A lot of people think that there was no point in having Percy miss the deadline but I think it was worth it for that scene. One of the hardest things a god can do is swallow their pride, they are among the most powerful beings in the universe and they know it. This shows how much Poseidon really cares about Percy. He surrenders to his brother, wounding his own pride and jeopardising his own reputation to save his son

Poseidon can also afford to have more care for his mortal son than most gods can, as its a forbidden child he both has to keep track of, and the only mortal child hes made in a long time. The extenuating circumstances around him basically force him to pay attention in a way he probably would'nt with the amount of kids hed likely have without the pact

"Zeus is a little bit of an A-hole" Oh, I could tell you other instances, but they wouldn't be suitable for KZbin. Still, it's a shame that he was Lance Reddick's final role. RIP🕊 This series has been awesome. Apart from how dark the lightning is, this is how you properly adapt this story to screen. I love how much closer it is to the book. And Annabeth is absolutely the highlight. Leah Jeffries did such and and amazing job and really embodied the character. I can't wait for them to adapt the other books.

I really like the changes they did for this episode. Really like how Lukes betrayal was done, he comes off way more sympathetic here. I also like that they had Gabe petrafy himself instead of Sally doing it, especially, with Gabe not being as aweful as he was in the book.

Honestly, in hindsight, it was a good choice to not go with book Gabe. He deserved it when he was turned to stone in the book. And, last I checked, Sally Jackson used the money she made from selling his stone corpse to finally go through with continuing past a high-school education. The book really said "no redemption or sympathy for the guy who hit Percy's angel of a mom. Straight into the depths of Tartarus with you."

That’s the thing with Alecto (and the other Furies) in Greek myth. She was sadistic and muderous, but was always fair and did it for the “right” reasons. Heck she was technically the worlds first prosecuting attorney in the Orestia myth

I actually liked the change to Gabe turning to stone. In the book, percy gives Sally the Medusa head. She then intentionally shows it to Gabe and sells the "statue that she made" for money. In this version, Gabe decides to be a porch pirate and steal something of Percy's only to get immediate karma plus since extra for everything he's done. I really hope Disney renews this for seasons 2-5 to get the entire series. Then the Heroes of Olympus series. Then the Trials of Apollo series and Magnus Chase series. If Disney does this right, they could have 17 years of content out of this. Plus the current season. Plus the 2 new Percy Jackson books Riordan wrote. We could have 20 years of Riordan shows and I'd watch every single one!

@@WeeLassReacts Lance Reddick was especially known for his role as Commander Zavala in the Destiny games. I remember seeing that the Destiny community was especially devastated by his loss, and I don't even play Destiny.

okay so: i think that annabeth already suspected luke during the conversation in the cabin, which is why she followed him invisibly 1) she's smart, she probably already deciphered the prophecy lines in her head. neither her or grover was gonna betray percy, and luke was the only other friend percy had made 2) she knows luke, she knows that him not talking to chiron is out of character compared to his past actions, as is leading percy away into the woods. but she also knows he has a grudge against the gods 3) clarisse (and the other ares kids) isn't smart enough to be the thief, but luke's father is the god of thieves. if it wasn't a child of ares, a child of hermes makes the most sense 4) grover probably told her about what happened in the underworld with the shoes- which were from luke

To explain the necklace thing, in the books, the rivalry between Athena and Poseidon is highlighted more. So when Annabeth gives Percy her necklace for luck she said something along the lines of “Athena and Poseidon fighting together” which kinda ended that mini arc. I’m a little sad they didn’t include those details to further explain the necklace scene, but it was still a really cute moment :)

Kronos is also associated with time. His name gave us words like chronological and chronology. Side note whoever designed how Olympus was going to look onscreen did a fantastic job. The scale really felt like a home of the gods.

as Ares said in ep 5, Kronos straight up ate his 5 children (Demeter, Hestia, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon), then Zeus was born and he made Kronos puke them back up. Zeus proceeded to chop Kronos into many, many tiny pieces and chucked him into the bottomless pit of Tartarus. edit: Lance Reddick, who played Zeus, passed away last year in 2023

Charlie Bushnell absolutely KILLED that final scene as Luke. I know a lot of fans were worried about how Luke's character and betrayal would be handled. I don't have words for how phenomenal that casting choice and performance were. So excited to see more of him and Clarisse moving forward. I think I might actually like the show versions of some of these characters better.

The necklace she gave percy is the half blood necklace, it has one bead for every year the camper had been on it (I think at this point she has six) and the ring is from her father's college, the only thing she has from him. They should have explained these things The4 only thing from this show that bothered me (Besides the darkness of some scenes) was that it would have been perfect with one more episode: We spent only 3/4 of an episode in camp, there should have been more screentime on that place because its one of the key parts of the worldbuilding. They could have shown us the different cabins of the children of the gods, their particullar skills (in fact that would have been great for the montage of percy failing at things) and the different creatures/places of the camp (something like when harry sees howarts the first time). We would spent an entire episode inside camp and then the quest starts in episode three There are several things that are omitted here, for example demigods have dislexia bc their brains are programmed to read greek, and the adhd is their battle instincts. Also in the books they explain that percy's mom was with gabe bc his smell covered them from monsters, I feel like those are important parts of the lore

Yay, I've been looking forward to watching this! I'm so glad we got to watch this wonderful series together. It's been such a treat. I still can't believe that this show exists and that it's this fucking good. It's too good to be real, and yet it is. And you're such a ray of sunshine too, so I was so happy when I saw you were reacting to this. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for news of a season 2, and I'd love to watch it with you then too! Until then you'll find me crying on the floor about Percy's conversation with Poseidon and how heartbreaking his fight with Luke was 😭

Just a note about Percy and his feelings for and relationship with Poseidon (and the gods in general) - that interaction on Olympus isn't their first. Poseidon saved Percy's life the first time in St. Louis, and the nereid told him his father has been watching out for him all his life, knowing that to acknowledge him would be deadly. Add in what Hermes told him, and it's natural that Percy would be more sympathetic to the gods than Luke is.

Epic Finale Reaction! The fight between Percy and Ares was good. I definitely love how Percy confront Zeus regardless of what could happen, and how we get to see Poseidon’s love for Percy, when he not only intervenes, but surrenders to his younger brother. But I think the best thing that they definitely did adapt well for the finale was the revelation of Luke’s betrayal. Not only how they had used the flashback of sparring practice to foreshadow Luke and Percy’s duel, but how surprisingly Annabeth was there to witness it as well. You can see how this act of betrayal affected all three of them. Luke was a brother to Annabeth, was a friend to Percy, and even he still felt hurt for what he did to them. I definitely did love seeing how not only do our Celestial Trio make the pact to meet back for camp regardless, but we get to see the aftermath of Kronos still planning his revenge and needs Percy still to make it possible. The fact that for the post credit scene was to see Gabes actually turn to stone was well executed. I cannot wait for the second season as I’m more interested to see how they adapt the character Tyson. 🧑🏼‍🦱👩🏿‍🦱🧑🏾‍🦱🧑🏻‍🦱🔱⚡️⚔️🌊💙💛🤍

Yeah, the Olympians are terrible parents, but as far as I know, none of them have eaten their children like Chronos did. I get Luke being mad at the gods, but allying with Chronos is just plain worse!

Most folks also forget or gloss over the part of Kronos Mythology for why he was ruler. Dude made sure he was the last kid his Father Oranos would have. And he didn't kill Oranos or eat him. So...yeah.
