This one was not the extended version, because some people on the comments said it was not necessary watching that for the first time, and when I saw it was almost 4 hours and a half, I agreed 😂 I just don't understand why they would leave important stuff out from the "normal" version. Extended version was supposed to be extra scenes.... But eventually I'll watch the long version.

Most of us watched the theatrical version first and with it coming in at 3.5 hrs it was already pushing the limits when it comes to keeping people in the theaters. One day you'll catch the extended and you'll be able to enjoy those extra scenes.

For you: Elrond is a half-elf. Is father was human and mother elf. He rose up with human and elf. His best friend was aragon father. Aragon's father died, and aragon was left alone. He rose him like a son. When Aragon was a teenager, he first meet Elrond daughter for the first time and they felt in love instantly. But Elrond told him that the only way he would accept him to marry his daughter, would be if he prove that he is the king he is supposed to be.

this trilogy is Peter Jackson's masterpiece, one of the best movies of all time, but buy the book and learn everything about Tolkien's world, for example, Eowyn did not kill the witch king because of her femininity, but because Galadile gave Pippin Bodes, which was made even before the second time in the server kingdom exclusively so that it could harm him, because otherwise he could not be killed with a regular weapon.

damn, missing a lot of the points of the characters and story. At least she enjoyed the movies. Also, Frodo gave literally everything he had for the task, both in a physical and mental way, absolutely true that it would have been impossible without Sam, but Frodo dealt with the pure evil that was trying to corrupt him all the journey to the point, at the end, he was broken beyond repair and needed to go to Valinor to heal, there was no "after" for him. Also, in the tabern drinking at the end, they are not bored, it is like the war vets when they come back from war and everything is the same but for them is not the "same", kinda ptsd where all the experiences changed everything for ever, especially for Frodo. Sorry for the TLDR but my man Frodo needs a bit of recongnition here without taking Sam's credit, which is the humble hero that Frodo needed.

'I don't get her story.' Arwen and Aragorns story is so important. Imagine an immortal that's a couple of thousand years old giving that up to spend a single lifetime with a mortal. That's essentially what she did. So a reason her father was so reluctant is because he's essentially signing his daughters death warrant and will not ever see her again once he leaves across the sea. So he's definitely justified in his concerns. But it's like she says to Aragorn in the first film 'I would rather share one lifetime with you than spend all the ages of this world alone.' It's beautiful. And the themes of immortality and death are key in Tolkiens Middle Earth. Essentially for the Elves the world leaves and they eventually fade with time. For men, they leave the world so they build all these amazing structures to leave their mark. It's a heartbreaking admission of our own insignificance in many ways but also plays on the idea that death is somewhat of a gift and being immortal wouldn't be all that great.

Slightly more important than that is Elrond is actually Half-Even. That's his full name, Elrond Half-Even. Elves don't just generally have the ability to just give up immortality - it's only the special bloodline of Elrond. Elf and Men marriage is incredibly rare - and the most famous of all is Beren and Luthien - the first to start the blood line of the Half Elves - and who you can catch Aragorn singing about in the Fellowship of the Rings scene when they're camping after meeting at Bree. Elrond's father is Earendil - arguably the greatest Middle Earth hero of them all - a Half Elf who literally challenged the Valar (Gods) by journeying to their forbidden land for a noble and courageous cause and thus being rewarded the option for his blood line to choose Immortality or Mortality He had two sons - Elrond and Elros. Elrond chose to be Elf, and his brother Elros chose to be of Men. These men of Elros were gifted longer life due to their half-elvish heritage. Aragorn is a descendant of Elros and thus a great distant nephew of Elrond. Aragorn is one of the last descendants of that blood line.

Men who return from war seldom receive recognition. The Shire folk (in the movie) didn't even know what was done. Tolkien had experience of returning from WWI to a place that no longer seemed his home. But in the book the story ends very differently and the four Hobbits are very much appreciated for what they do after when the arrive back in the Shire.

Frodo wouldnt have made it without Sam, but Sam wouldnt have been able to carry the ring all that way, it seems it would have corrupted him before the volcano pit, as we saw a bit of it when he gave it back to Frodo. So they were both equally important. But lets say Sam did it by choice and strength, and Frodo had that natural ability and some kind of purity. In the end we all recognize Sam as the hero, thats what matters.

Here's an interesting, possibly heart-breaking question. Why three eagles? Why did Gandalf bring three? Obvious answer--he doesn't know Gollum is dead. He still had hope for that wretched, tortured creature. Frodo's flesh and soul were wounded too deeply to heal anywhere but in Valinor--the Undying Lands. There, he will live long and eventually heal, in a holy land of supreme beauty and peace. Also in the books much is made of a song titled "Samwise the Brave and Frodo of the Nine Fingers" which was created in Gondor in the wake of the War of the Ring. The book also notes that when Sam's wife died, about fifty years or so later, he went to the same havens and took a ship also to the Undying Lands, an honor accorded to very few indeed.

Unless an army on foot is prepared, an army on horses will do a lot of damage to those on foot. Denathor succumbed to despair, he saw no possibility of victory. Dying seemed a better option than being slave to Sauron. What Gollum is doing high on the mountain? He is doing his part, of course! Once the ring is destroyed, everything done with the ring, including the tower, is undone. Sauron put a lot of himself in the ring, so he became a spirit in the shadows, unable to take form ever again. If that helps, after the main story, Sam was elected mayor of the Shire (main task: presiding at banquets) 7 times.

Such an emotional adventure, a lot of people forget Frodo thought Gandalf died and sees him again (at 17:12) for the first time since the Fellowship movie. Speaking of Gandalf: "I better order up an extra eagle, just in case Smeagol made it too." ... btw, the ocean Belegaer separated the Undying Lands from the western shores of Middle-earth. Only immortals and ring-bearers were allowed to live in this area. Shadowfax, and eventually Samwise Gamgee and Gimli, along with his great friend Legolas made the final journey to the Undying Lands. First. Thank you so much for reviewing this story/trilogy. It is obvious your reactions are authentic. I haven't read the comments below...so my answers to some of your questions (and I'm sure I forgot some) might be duplicated: 1) Where is Frodo (and the others going on the ship). Essentially to the Elves version of Heaven (a place called Valinor...Gandalf's talk with Pippin about a "far green country under a swift sunrise"...that's Valinor). Men (Human's) cannot go there...they have a different fate. As the Elves are immortal beings (only dying if they are killed or totally broken in spirit)...the ships to Valinor are their escape from Middle Earth. Frodo goes as he has "been" a ring bearer. In Tolkien's lore...eventually Sam is given this honor as well...so yes...Sam's contribution is recognized. In fact eventually Gimli is given a place...the only Dwarf ever given this honor. 2) WHY does Frodo leave...he has endured too much from his "adventure". Knife wound, spear wound, spider bite, the burden of the ring, etc etc. He seek's peace...recall his statement about "never truly going back". 3). The scene with the 4 Hobbits in the "pub" is not to show they are bored...but to recognize that they share a bond unique to them (think Band of Brothers)...and everyone else in the pub is just going about their lives not knowing those 4 (and especially Sam) literally saved the world. This is very much akin to the experiences those who have served in combat experience when they return. No-one appreciates what they have done...nor can they understand or be part of the "Band of Brothers" 4). I don't recall if you said this was the Extended version you were watching or not. In the Extended version we do see the death of the wizard Saruman. In the extended movies his death is "similar" to what happens in the books...but occurs at the top of the tower of Orthanc...in the book it is in the Shire itself. That is one of the larger changes Peter Jackson made between the book and movie. 5) The "story" of Arwen. The love/union of Aragorn and Arwen is a mirror of the story of Beren/Luthian from the 2nd age of Middle Earth (recall Aragorn singing by the mires as he travels with the hobbits...he says it is a story of an elf maid who loved a mortal man...that was the tale of Beren/Luthian). Also...at that point and during the coronation Aragorn "sings"....in Elvish (and yes...the language they used was a complete Elvish language developed by Professor Tolkien...and they taught the cast to speak it as needed). The story of Beren/Luthian is so key to Tolkien's mythology. On the tombstone for the professor and his wife are the inscriptions...Beren....Luthian. It is a reflection of the love he felt for Edith his wife...and that story is replayed out in the love/union of Aragorn and Arwen (who by marrying Aragon gives up her immortality). I'm sure I'm missing some of your questions, and I hope you don't mind my long winded answers above. Professor Tolkien's works are often referred to as a "Legendarium"....they are vast...wide and deep in the details he created. The Lord of the Rings is but one part of the history of Middle Earth. Should you do "The Hobbit" movies? I think you'll enjoy them...they are NOT as good as LOTR...but if you understand that going in...they can still be fun (The Hobbit is an entirely DIFFERENT type of story). Thanks again...and be Blessed. Parting thought: Everyone needs a Sam....Everyone should try to BE SAM!

Yeah, some people will complain about your edits, but then they are not the ones busting their butts putting together these videos and trying to get them past the crazy YT copyright reviews, you know? If you really enjoyed these movies, go back sometime and just for yourself watch all 3 extended versions. If you are an LOTR fan, you will love the experience. Of course, the movies pale in comparison to the books. PJ & Co. had to cut SO much out for the movies, even the extended versions, and because of that they seriously damaged Denethor's character, and they messed with Faramir & Treebeard as well. But, all in all, they did a pretty dang good job of it I'd say. So, did you know that there is/was a stage musical adaptation of LOTR too? I actually flew to Toronto to see the original production back in 2006. I ended up sitting next to two super cute little girls and their Mom. They couldn't have been more than 9 or 10. They LOVED the movies and were super excited to see the musical. I asked them if they had read the books, and they both gave me a "look", and one of them said "Duh, they're kind of long." Their Mother was mortified but I laughed and laughed, LOL! Yes, the books ARE kind of long, but if you want to know how the story really goes, treat yourself someday and read the books. O........M...........G ...... i watched for 3 & a half hours & ur edit was missing legolas single-handedly taking down the giant elephant, ....it was missing aragorn saying “for frodo” .& running towards certain death...it was missing sam finally pulling up frodo from the ledge inside the volcano/mt. Doom, ....AAAANNNDDD, 1000% unforgivably it was missing aragorn saying “my friends.....u bow to no one” ....i was willing to forgive everything until that last one...my god, ur reaction was really good & heartfelt too, but u missed 90% of the big moments, u just breezed right past them....in the other 2 movies the edit was bad also, & i forgave that but leaving out “my friends, u bow to no one”, being cut out? Ive seen some horrible edits, but my god, noooooo -body cuts that out, i had never seen that....its like a chimpanzee on heroin edited that reaction ....& u apparently dont have a patreon channel.....im usually not big on complaining but i watched for 3 & a half hours & the payoff, the big moments....too many big moments were missing....holy shit, fuck....wow

ahn... I'm sorry? For me, watching for the first time, I didn't know it was an important scene. If I didn't put it in the video, it was because I had no reaction watching that specific part. Actually, the "my friends, you bow to no one" part, I was paying attention to how they've done that scene. The graphic effects, idk. Sorry if it was not what you were expecting.
