The barrels are purchased from Valleyfield distillery in Montreal or Paliser (Black Velvet) distillery in Alberta. Blended and rebarreled at Found North and finished in the casks noted on the website.

I believe the guys who started this were out of the Boston area, Somerville. It's two brothers who, during COVID, were like, hey, let's start up a whiskey company. They found a bunch of really old Canadian stock and bought it up. The blends are consistently stellar and unique and fly under the tater radar. If you can find a 007, it's pretty amazing. You guys are great and just downright fun to watch; really loving the channel.

Rare form in the first 90 seconds. 😂 We’re huge Found North fans. They source 100% grain whisky from Canada (fully aged 100% corn, 100% rye, 100% malted barley whiskies) and blend those fully matured whiskies into a derived mashbill (and then do any additional finishing after that). Very unique in the space of Canadian whisky to do this and release such high age statements, especially at cask strength.

Good to know and thanks for that info. I am clearly terrible at Googling lol. I'm definitely on the Found North train now though and gonna be actively chasing future releases for sure 😅

Just found your channel recently and have been trying to catch up on your videos! You guys are great!! Found North bottles are great. I have batches 3, 5, and 6. I just won the lottery for the opportunity to buy batch 10. The fact that they are now using a lottery system for their releases just shows how good they are!

So glad to hear it! I too got lucky with the lottery this time around and very excited to try batch 10. Really appreciate you hanging out with us, welcome aboard! 🥃

Ruby Port is the freshest and least complex of fortified wines, deep red in color and filled with sweet flavors of red fruits. Ruby Port is made from wine produced from a blend of red grapes, fortified and aged no more than three years to maintain its fresh flavor and brilliant color.

Lot 40 Cask strength, Wisers 22 or 23 year old cask strength are both amazing bottles too! The Lot 40 Cask Strength is 95% unmalted Rye and 5% Malted rye. The Wisers is usually a blend of corn and rye.

Not too many Canadian whiskies are 91% corn....so that might explain the different taste.
@peterwhite5072 ай бұрын
Actually most Canadian Whisky are corn with rye blended in. Wisers 23 will use the 1/11 rule younger rye to maintain the age statement.
@jtf2dan2 ай бұрын
@@peterwhite507 The Lot 40s I recommend are 100% rye, Alberta Distilleries focuses mostly on rye in their products, Highwood distillery uses mostly wheat in their products, but yes most distilleries blend corn and rye, just not sure most of them are 91% corn or over...
@peterwhite5072 ай бұрын
@@jtf2dan I know, I own multiples of L40 11 and 12 and the entire line, even the horrible peated and Port finished versions. The old Highwood Ninety 20, Stampede 25, Can Century 21 year. were all Potters Corn. When it comes to the 1/11 rule Wisers 22,23, and Canadian Club Chronicles (41-44 years) releases added rye and a couple Chronicles added Cognac and sherry but younger. That way they could maintain the age statement on the bottle. As you know the 1/11 rule does not effect the age statement as it does not have to be even mentioned.

Just saw a video of yours where you tried a whiskey that you had opened three years ago, down to less than a quarter full and hadn't a cork. Those are simply unsuitable conditions for tasting a whiskey. Just a purely amicable suggestion.

1% rye? Why?
@ryanmillar96072 ай бұрын
Oops, barley.
@peterwhite5072 ай бұрын
@@ryanmillar9607 Because a minimum 19 year barley casks are hard to come by in Canada. The Rye % is being going down as well since those aged casks are getting rarer. Hyper aged corn whiskey barrels in Canada are a dime a dozen (Just ask Cat's Eye distillery). I would think that Found North is buying casks with less age and maturing them in their warehouse.
