Surreal to go from the Vault being the first channel I ever watched to being part of the dry week video content to now having one of our barrel picks reviewed! “Saddle up! That is flavor!” Oily, viscous, and dense is what we love to shoot for with our picks. That woody note in the background reads like a dry cigar box that makes it really unique to us. So glad you enjoyed it!

I was fortunate enough to get a bottle of batch 001 back in 2020. Since then I’ve gotten every one of Found North’s batch bottles (001-010) plus a few single barrel ryes, and two of their High Altitude Collection (Hell Diver and Peregrine). It’s some of my favorite stuff out there. I have yet to be disappointed by a bottle. It’s all full of flavor and character. No bottle tastes like the last. I don’t want too many people to discover them, but I think that train has already pulled out of the station.

I’ve got Season 3 barrel 5 sitting unopened. Waiting for a special occasion. Oddly we have access to 17 year and the Season series in my area quite often. Time to crack it open.

The short barrels are single barrels for store picks. The normal releases are in tall bottles. Nick Taylor is a great guy, he got his start working at liquor stores in MA.

This is blended flavouring whisky in canada they make 100% grain distillates, light and then flavoured . They take all of there unblended distillates and make a seperate blend with them in the barrel. Pretty interesting concept

I’m not sure you’re saying this, but to be clear, Found North has no additives in their whisk(e)y, including flavors. Sorry if you weren’t suggesting that, I just wouldn’t want people to think they did.

Most canadian distilleries do stuff differently, they distill 2 seperate batches and age them completely separately, one at a higher proof that is called base (light) whiskey usually in a double column still setup and in used barrels. Then they have flavouring whisky that is distilled to a lower proof in a single column still or a pot still and filled into new oak/bourbon barrels and varies in age but tends to be older. They then blend these two together to make there flavour profile. Found north on the other hand more than likely sources flavouring whisky’s (the good shit) and blends those together to make a flavouring whisky “single barrel”

Just a couple years ago, you could find bottles of this sitting on store shelves. Eventually, they started announcing their releases and you could buy a bottle online. Pretty quickly, they began selling out entire batches in a matter of minutes. They eneded up switching to a lottery format to allow more people to get bottles. There are lots of people who would be thrilled to win the chance to buy a bottle of batch 10. Glad I was lucky enough to get one!
