Dr. Strange was my favorite as a kid, because his superpower is study and knowledge. They really hit that note in this movie, so it definitely made my top 5. Shoutout to What If? for their takes too.

The Air Force Colonel was I think the guy from Iron Man 2, a lot of people mistake it for Rhodes
@carlgibson285Күн бұрын
Yep, it was the guy in the prototype Hammer-Tech suit. According to the Official Encyclopedia Of The MCU (yes, I'm that much of a nerd) Strange was already studying in Kamar-Taj when the events of Civil War happened.

Not sure if you noticed, but there was a warning at the very end of the credits. "Driving while distracted can be hazardous to you and others on the road. Please drive responsibly." Warnings come after the spells, of course 🤣

In the 1970s my brother let me read his Marvel Comics collection and Dr. Strange quickly became one of my favorite titles. I was very happy to see that when it was added to the MCU they captured the trippy, psychedelic tone of the comics, which harken back to its origins in the 1960s and 70s. I thought it was very well done and it became one of my favorite movies as well.

I think wearing the broken watch was a reminder of his journey from self-centered ass to hero. I always thought Strange's comment that "We are made of matter, and nothing more" was a missed opportunity. We are made of matter and energy.

I think you could be a doctor or a nurse btw. The study is hard; but that's mostly memorization. The character, empathy, and work ethic are the hardest parts and what separates the good providers from the bad. Being able to just talk to people is a huge part of healthcare. No one wants to be in hospital, often times the staff don't want to be in hospital, but actually connecting in a provider-patient way....nothing better. There are other great qualities to being a good doctor or nurse, but I think a lot of the most important ones are already there in most people. It's kind of instinctual. For the most part, we want to help or jump into action when we see others in pain. Doing something amazing for a complete stranger, like saving their life, is a rush all its own.

I like this movie a lot. I read Doctor Strange's early adventures as a kid and the idea and visuals were so well recreated here. Strange's origin is really a lot like Iron Man's Arrogant narcissus gets his comeuppance and becomes a better person. It's great to see the Inception VFX on steroids. Really gives the movie a unique feel. If you haven't noticed a lot of the Marvel movies have the hero go up against their evil opposite for their first go around. I think it's a tried and true storytelling device to convice the character what they believe in and who they want to be. Still a soilid first outtting for Mister Doctor.

So Dr. Strange's 1st appearance was on his own comic book in 1963. His comics were always a bit trippy. There actually is a Dr. Strange TV movie from 1978. 🤔 I don't know how hard it would be to find. I do know I've never seen anyone react to it. I still haven't watched your Hereditary reaction but when I do watch the movie I'll watch your reaction. Maybe a double feature tomorrow.

Mid-credits scenes; I’m still bummed that Mordo took away Pangborn’s ability to be healthy. With only a couple of words and no visual reveal, you recognized Thor/Chris Hemsworth with a cute little grin. That made me laugh. 😄

Nice. So, as a kid in the 80's, when my comic book collecting started, my top 3 were The Avengers, Moon Knight and Doctor Strange. I was very worried when I heard they were doing a Doctor Strange movie, as I couldn't imagine how they could pull it off. I'm so happy I was wrong. As in the books, Stranges' story is one of personal development and existential import. This is easily top 5 MCU for me. Still, there's no way they could do Moon Knight right.... :-) Like they couldn't possibly do justice to Blade either... :-)

Judging from your comment at the start you might have gotten the Marvel comics Dr Strange here confused with the DC comics Dr Strange who more recently goes by Hugo Strange with the "doctor" bit dropped even though he still is. Comics are weird.

Great reaction. This one is a solid origin story but stacked up against the other films it's in the middle tier. You picked up the soldier with the injured spine on Strange's phone call, pretty sure that was the pilot in Hammer's attempt at re creating the Iron Man suit. We see him get twisted front to back when Tony's in Washington and hijacks the tvs in IM2.
@havok6280Күн бұрын
It's only fair to judge this against other origin stories. If Iron Man and Guardians are at the top, this is just below that. It's much better than Thor or Captain America.
@j_t_mcКүн бұрын
@@havok6280 I've got IM - TFA - GotG - Ant Man - DS - Thor - TIH. Judged against it's peers it's lower mid tier.
