Unless it’s some weird technicality with mahitos blades technically being hands still, it’s gotta be the cheeks. It just makes so much sense storywise, he said boogie-woogie is dead cus he likely can’t clap his cheeks consistently during a intense fight, and considering it would make a similar noise it’s likely a clapping sound that todo has to make rather than clapping itself. This also explains the vibraslap, instead of binding it to the action of hitting it, he binded it to the sound itself which would make a LOT of sense considering it makes that sound dozens of times a second, compared to him actually only hitting it once.

I think it's clear based on the editing of their fight that Todo is capable of perception blitzing Mahito with brief bursts of explosive movement. Building off of this we also see that the sword arm Todo swapped with was snapped in order for it to be a separate third subject for Boogie Woogie (many people don't seem to think about the sword being snapped for some reason which clearly indicates that Todo broke it.) Based on this my impression is that; 1.) Todo blocks the strikes 2.) Mahito attempt Idol/Idle Transfiguration 3.) Todo sees the attack coming straight at him launched with the confidence that he can't use Boogie Woogie. 4.) Todo quickly snaps the blade and claps before the intact blade or the Idol/Idle Transfiguration can hit him (based on how he's above Mahito he might have even tossed it upwards before clapping) 5.) he claps and counter attacks.

The fight scean in Shibuya does a fun thing where it usually shows the POV of the weaker fighter missing information and not seeing what the stronger fighter is doing. And for 3 Frames exactly, Todo's hands are out of Sight. Todo moved so fast like, Mahito we did not see him clap his hands during that moment. He clapped his hands and that's what happened.

I feel like how Mahito was though, it wouldn't fit with his character. He was frantic, and maybe stupid at times. But he was brutally efficient even if it was just to mess around. I think he was fully intent on going for the killing blow with IT instead of just trying to deflect. when you look at 1:36. the most reasonable thing is that when he catches both swords, if you notice he crosses his arms to catch the swords that may look that was for showup but in reality he may have clap the moment he crossed his arms to catch the swords, but they were probably moving faster than sound so the clap sound got a little bit delayed. this would mean that is not that he needs both hands but to make a clap sound (something that he will need at least a hand or both)

The writer/creator mentioned he forgot to draw or detail it, but Todo brought his hands inwards quickly and let the back of his hands clap together. And boogie woogie is activated by using two fleshy (or specially made artifice) coursing with energy to activate the technique. Because he says boogie woogie is dead after his slap with mahito to bring yuji in. Lost one hand, and his other was thankfully protected mostly by his own energy, but mahito s energy still burned through enough to cause a sudden warp that causes enough friction to burn his hand and fingers. But Todo didn't know it was just slight enough to be healed by the greatest jujutsu healers. Then an artifice able to be made that used his energy gave him the ability to activate boogie woogie again.

They never specified he had to clap with his hand, he could have used his fingers to clap or his feet and maybe clapping with his hands makes it easier for him to use his cursed technique rather than his fingers which might be weaker (idk wtf im theorizing here but maybe? At the time I was still holding out hope it was one of those 5D Chess moments where he expertly held up this act for all his appearences that his ability required the clapping, making it well know to all combatants as well, only to at the final hour appear behind the opponent like "I Lied 👊😁" as in his ability is just on demand teleportation with no activation condition.
