Great video! I have an Alesis DM5 drum brain that also takes 9VAC. I wound up buying a transformer from Jameco, hadn't thought of modifying a DC power supply!

I used to have an SR16, it was my first drum machine 20+ years ago. I knew as soon as I saw the title of this video what the issue was. And in the first few seconds of the video it clearly says 9VAC on the back. Since most guitar pedals and even the Boss drum machines use the same 9VDC adapter, it’s understandable. This video is a good reminder to always check what type of voltage your equipment uses. Also that SR16 has some of the worst drum sounds and beats I’ve ever heard for an electronic musician. I’m sure I could do something with them today but back in the 90’s it was bad. I think I paid $300 for my SR16 around 1995. I do not regret selling it.

clever! Why didn't you just use an appropriate 9VAC adapter? Was it just to skip buying it? Also, wasn't the power connector (or the online manual) labelled as requiring 9vac for the SR16?

I have a 5 gallon bucket of power adapters that I use for projects like this, no need to buy new. I didn't have the manual, the label was rubbed off on the unit. I know i could look it up on-line. But I found it far more enjoyable to figure it all out myself.
