So this again shows that it is probably better to chase the northern lights by one self (and spending that money better for a dog sledding tour ;). Thank you for this nice video!

The cold months are usually good but sometimes clouds affect visibility and it's hard to predict when that'll happen.

on your northern lights tour, what was the full thing your guide said: "anything below 8 (degrees)....." ? It would be interesting to know. Thanks!
@fougiss22 күн бұрын
She was saying as soon as it gets to like -8, you have to be careful because the cold seeps in very quickly then. So don't take your gloves off and don't stay idle for too long.

Hi can you share the exact aurora tour you’ve taken ? I tried the link, too many packages to look at. Tks 👍

Thanks for watching my video. I've just tried the link in the description and it takes me straight to the tour I've booked with reviews. Maybe it was a glitch, so let me know if it still does not work for you. Update: There was an issue with the short url as it would sometimes take you to the exact tour and sometimes to a search page, so I've updated the description with the correct link now.

what was the name of the hotel? was it nice? Thank you for this video.
@fougiss10 ай бұрын
It's Enter Amalie Hotel which is 2 mins walk from Radisson Blu where most excursion pick ups are done. The people on the reception were really nice and helpful and that's the only budget hotel that served breakfast (hot, not take away types) that I found. Room was clean and warm too. I went in Dec 2023 so if you want to know anything else, ask away while it's still fresh in my mind :)

What was the camera equipment that you used? Was it just an IPhone camera? Tripod? What was the exposure settings to capture the lights? How much did you spend on transport?
@fougiss3 ай бұрын
I used the DJI Pocket 3 to film. If you have a recent smartphone, you'll get good photos but with video, it's more tricky as you're filming in pretty much pitch black and you can't use long exposure. I've had to denoise the aurora footage when I was on the plane and the excursion. Check the link in the description to see which excursion I booked and what the costs are now.

Can you see the aurora in Svalbard?

Definitely but it depends on the time of the year that you travel and how clear the sky is on the day of your tour.

You can stay as long as you want but the last cable car return to the bottom of the hill is at 23:30 or midnight, so make sure you don't miss it!

I think using cable cars to see Aurora is a good idea and cheaper. Is that very windy on the top?

Wow it is amazing 🎉 I am planning to travel to Tromso just to see northern lights with my husband and 6 years old daughter. Do you think chasing aurora will be suitable for my daughter? And i think this will be our only chance to travel for northern lights so which month do you suggest for tromso? I guess you had some tips while you were there 😊 thanks.
@fougiss8 ай бұрын
To maximise your chances of seeing the auroras, it's better to travel during the winter months. In my video, you'll see how cold & windy it gets walking in absolute darkness under heavy snow away from city lights. The excursion lasts around 6hrs and you're idle most of the time looking at the sky, so those are things to consider when bringing your daughter. Dress like you're going to the North Pole and go with a tour where professional photos can be taken if you're not good with adjusting camera settings manually. All the best :)
