these look really cool, love the pink one! my only silly criticism of the controller as a whole is that I really don't like the font they chose for the letters on the buttons, it's weirdly big and it almost makes them look like buttons on a knock-off controller. I might be the only one who thinks that though, and I love everything else, especially the d-pad

Did you check out Xbox's YouTuve community-tab, or just their social media accounts in general? Whoever manages them knows how to communicate with fans (they actually reply to comments). They are awesome people and real gamers, which I appreciate. It's a huge contrast to Sony's social media accounts in a good way. Nintendo is kinda doing their own thing but looking at their channel you can see that it's clearly targeted at a more casual or younger audience.

It's worth mentioning that the controller (with no "engraving") plus the rechargeable battery is a cool $100 when ordered all together through the Microsoft website. While this price isn't entirely egregious it is a bit ridiculous that it costs nearly twice as much as the Sony and Nintendo options in order to get the same charge-n-play effect... in 2021.

Don't forget that the switch and playstation controllers can also do way more than the xbox controllers on pc. For what the controller is, it's ridiculously overpriced. Functionally you can use a 360 controller, and there wouldn't be any downsides

I swapped the Lunar Shift Special Edition buttons/d-pad/rubber grips/analog thumbsticks into a Robot White Controller and absolutely love the results. I did mess around in the Design Lab but you can't get an exact match on things like the really cool rubber grips with the swirl patterns that come on Lunar Shift and Stellar Shift Special Edition controllers.

Been sitting on a PS4 for years and finally upgrading to a Series X, got my fancy pants custom lab elite controller on order. Tbh, it was like 219.00USD and I’m not mad at that given what I’ve paid in PS4 controllers/kontrol freeks/back buttons. Tbh, it was a hard choice between that and scuf, but I think the perks on the xbox (especially the warranty) outweighed the scuf. Protip: if you order extra sticks, make sure to pick the color, otherwise you get black backups.

I ordered one around a year ago before the new consoles had released, and back then they allowed for grip on the back of the handles similar to how the Elite controller has now. It was an additional charge similar to the laser engraving and I'm really bummed they removed it. They also had the option for a metallic finish on the d-pad and triggers which costed more as well, but that was also removed when they re-launched Design Labs

@@droson8712 everything from Xbox is on PC, and more. By the time xbox is available you'll be able to build or buy a better PC for very similar price. If you have a good connection you don't even need a PC that powerful, soon all you'll need a phone or a tablet. There are more reasons to not buy Xbox than to buy one. I work with PC, so I understand you wouldn't want to game on one. But if there were any interesting Microsoft games, which there aren't at the moment, I'd rather buy a PC than an Xbox. So PlayStation and PC is the best combo.

Things that i noticed has changed from old desing lab. You cant have metallic colored triggers or d-pad anymore, camo and shadow front options are gone too and the d-pad is the circle thing and not regular d-pad (mainly because they changed it on controllers)

Just an FYI Xbox does not have a deal with Duracell… Xbox chose asked Xbox players in a survey what type of battery they want in a controller, and the majority replied AA batteries. Having replaceable batteries makes it so when the batteries stop working you can change the batteries and not the whole controller. Also they give very good battery life.

I really like the idea of a custom colored controller, but it turns out that the design lab controllers are pretty much twice the price of a regular one that is on sale. Xbox controllers are often available for as cheap as 40€, which is where I got myself a bunch of special Edition ones (Gears of War, sports blue, etc.) and a design labs controller is 79€ (with engraving). So I have always refrained from getting one, if I can get two regular ones instead. If they ever have a special promotion where I can get on for 50 or 55€, I might get one, though.

I kept thinking about getting a custom Xbox One controller from Design Lab for a long time but never pulled the trigger. By sheer coincidence, the blue and white Xbox Series controller Microsoft released this year is pretty much exactly what I had in mind for a Design Labs pad (only annoyance being that the d-pad is black instead of blue) so I immediately snapped one up. I'd love to see PlayStation do a similar thing.

Might just be me, but I wish there were more customization options. Different shapes, sizes, attachments, full color wheel, materials, capabilities, battery options, and button layout. If you make something they don’t currently have in production but it gets enough upvotes, than they can start selling that make. Sure, it would cost them more to do, but more people would want to try it out, and more people would be willing to pay more.

Bob I have a controller mission for you, make one more standard Xbox controller in design labs, with the new rubber grips, the metal buttons (triggers and d-pad don't get too excited) and find a way to give it hair triggers. I prefer the d-pad on the standard over the elite series 2, but I love the grip of the elite, so if it had adjustable or fixed hairline triggers, I think it might be, well really really good.

Well, I was GONNA comment on how the White-colored Xbox Series X controller is $55 instead of $60 (five bucks ain't nothin' these days), but now they changed the price of the white ones to $59. It's still technically cheaper, but... by one flippin' dollar instead of five. Anyway... Also, the controller is really freaking good! I use it for everything (Xbox One, PC, and emulation). I think the d-pad is especially awesome.

Or you can buy a rechargeable attachment for your Xbox so every controller you have can have rechargeable barriers. I snagged one at GameStop for $20 years ago and it still works 6-7 years later. When my controller says “low battery” I just switch it out for the other pack and charge that battery while I keep on playing. And the Xbox powers the attachment so no need for extra cables. Tada
