Just from watching, immediately I noticed your center of gravity was too far backwards. When someones paddling into a wave, the nose of the board should be level with the water, not pointing up. Too much drag. Move up an inch or 2 on the board. You want your nose to slightly go under when the wave begins to move you. Remember, don't wait for the wave to catch you, get to it quickly and catch it. Don't be afraid to simply paddle & not look backwards. You also look back a lot, that slows you down. And remember, smooth is fast. The smoother & more steady you paddle, the faster you go. Oh, and split your legs so your knees are on the rails when learning to paddle into a wave. It teaches you how to control the board with your legs while paddling. You got this bro. Surfs up boys!

Thank you so much for the tips! I’ll make sure to implement them the next time I’m out. Funny enough I actually found that by making this video. It allowed me to analyze the way I moved in the water from a third person perspective. So it was good to see and take notes. Honestly the whole surfing gig I see it as a marathon and not a sprint so I just gotta be patient and I’ll get better!
