So I turned up in my Scout Regiment cosplay from AoT. The kids loved it and I impressed upon them not to look down on others for their hobbies or intrests. Say what you will but gojo is a craftsman first and foremost. He lost his shyness when he looked over the clothing detail and knew right away where things were messed and and knew how to correct the flaws. In episode 2 he took detailed notes on the outfit marin wanted to wear. He then showed marin in episode 3 what he was planning and she put her faith into his abilities to make the best outfit for her. Gojo may be awkward but give him a bit of prodding and he'll show you what he can do. Sure the show may be about cosplay and a budding relationship it's just another take on other genres out there like initial D. Get a shy guy that's also a gearhead taking about cars and his shell disappears.

This anime, to me, seems to have a smaller side comment to make about cosplayers. You have cosplayers that will go half naked to a con to represent a character and then get all "RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION" when people stare at their boobs or butt. They flip out over every little thing yet flirt with people that are interviewing them or someone that can further their "career". It all relates to that skit that Dave Chappelle did on one of his specials. "You may not be a whore, but you sure are wearing a whore's outfit."

It really is incredible. When I was in middle school I had two best friends who were unashamedly obsessed with anime and other classmates would indirectly make fun of them for it. Now I teach sixth and seventh grade and every year there will always be at least one group of kids in each class that's into anime. The ones that aren't are still not interested, but it's not seen as something weird, just something that some people like.

The animation is so good that it takes what would be a pretty girl in most animation and makes her OUTSTANDING! The detail in the makeup, nails, clothing, and actual body shape. DEAR LORD! I read the manga and it expand a lot. There is fan service but lot of relatable things people will find enjoyment. Don’t know the anime will fully do everything, but there are lot of people who are open minded and won’t judge them as they think they would. Still a scary world with many people that you need to find the right ones to open that shell

Trust me when I say it gets even *better*, for me especially after a certain train scene. Gosh, just remembering it gives me goosebumps. So far, I'm loving the way they made the characters, especially the colours, not sure about the voices, but the actors are doing a great job. Some scenes made me think I'm watching an anime movie, not a series, yet others immerse me so deeply that I forget it's almost over, it's one of those anime that makes you want to watch it more and more and you just forget about the time as you're enjoying it so much.

I've read about 60 or so chapters into the manga, and I would recommend sticking with it, because about half way through that length of the run, the fan service cuts waaaay back (and even where the anime is now, the fan service becomes less than the early episodes) and their relationship actually progresses.

For me this has been one of the surprises of the season, I really don't get the feeling they are going to go over the top with lewdness and really hope it continues to be more like Ep4 where it is instead going to focus on the struggles and growth of both characters as well as their affection and a growing closeness between them. Aside from Akebi's Sailor Uniform this is one that I look forward to every Saturday and always gives me at least a few moments where I'm smiling, laughing, tearing up from all sorts of emotions. It's feeling like this could be the seasons Horimiya for me, a surprising dramatic and a bit unconventional love story. The artwork and the animation is just beautiful and accompanied with simple melodies that just weave themselves into the scenes wonderfully it comes to the fore and fades into the atmosphere perfectly. I feel like everyone who is working on it really deserves full praise for their efforts and are elevating their artforms together to pull us into an engaging world and story. For me it's often the little details that strike me most and I find plenty of those in each episode. It just feels authentic and relatable and warms my heart. I know some have said the fan-service detracts from show but I disagree and instead think it makes sense when you consider the theme, the young characters involved, and most especially Marin's passion; so I think they are doing a terrific job of dancing on the line of trying to be fittingly risque' without just putting camera angles in positions to provide lewd shots in the middle of every other conversation just because... Boobayz! or Azzcheeks!... that's the kind of stuff I find tiring and this is nothing close to that, rather I feel it's entirely fitting when used and elevates the scene and the character herself. In a word it's "Art" as it should be. It's definitely one of my top 3 for the season so far.

I really do enjoy both of these characters and the development of their connection so far has been promising. I do think the scenes of Gojo panicking overstay their welcome, particularly in episode two. My main concern, which I have with almost every romance show I start, both the character and relationship development will plateau and the series will enter the purgatory of will they won't they forever.

This is the hard part of any story that relies on sexual tension to drive the story. The moment they actually hookup, the tension is gone and the story is over. So you can NOT have them hookup until the story is about over but if it's successful, you want to write more books or series or movies or whatever to satisfy the fans and make more money. Problem with this is of course that it just keeps getting drawn out and you lose any sense of progression to the story. It's a formula that can work beautifully in a shorter medium like a standalone movie or novel but is very difficult to pull of in longer formats. Very few have ever succeeded. For a classic example for any other old people in here, there is the TV show Moonlighting. That show was great right up until the moment the two MCs (one of which was Bruce Willis) finally hooked up. At that point, it was dead. They tried to drag it out a bit longer but all the charm was gone.

Its my favorite non sequel this season. Even though I have read the manga, each episode still feels fresh. I terms of the manga, the fan service does get toned down and their relationship progress is slow but it gets there don't worry. Hopefully Cloverworks doesn't mess it up because I personally feel like they took on WAY TOO MANY projects this season.

I remember when I first found this series, I was just looking online for some new manga and saw it and normally I wouldn't have given it a second look but I said screw it and bought the first volume, and then I almost instantly bought the rest of the ones that were out at the time because I loved it that much, and then just a few weeks after I found out it was getting an adapted so this is the first time I've been able to get hyped for an anime because I had read the manga first and its with a series I probably never would have looked at. Also I don't need to see any of the other shows this year to say Kitagawa is best girl of 2022

I read the manga in 2 days, it's a wonderful look into the world of cosplay and how much effort they can invest in it. The whole "dolls are not a men thing" kinda falls apart because the grandfather is a doll-maker himself, although maybe not for the same reason. I'm not gonna spoil the whole scene, but there's also a nice moment where someone mentions it's weird he does her make-up, but is immediately rebutted by someone pointing out that male make-up artists are very common.

I'm sure it's already under your radar on stuff to talk about. But just in case if you haven't thought about making a video for it, I'm curious what your thoughts are for Sabikui Bisco. Aside from My Dress-Up Darling, this was the only other new show that isn't a sequel or continuation from the previous season that I'm thoroughly enjoying based on its style and unique setting alone. It kind of reminds me of Dorohedoro in a way, and yes, part of it is because there is a character that is pretty much En with extra steps. And I could be wrong in saying this, but I think we might have another Studio Bind like situation going on cuz I took a look at what the studio was that was making the show and it turns out that this is the first show this studio is producing, I don't know if they're exclusively focusing on this similar to Binds Mushoku Tensei, but looking at how crazy some the animation can be with the side notes of the small bit of CGI that's in it, I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case.

Coming from the manga, and the relationship between these two is in a good place currently: even with the romance element there, it's clear that it's not the focus of the story, and there's no rush in getting to the "now they're my significant other" phase. The goal of the story isn't to get these two together since they more or less are in all but name, it's more how they develop each other, a truly mutual relationship where they realize they can rely on each other, and in turn they can bring the best out of the other.

for Recommendation: Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu a bit old of an anime but has slight similarities with My Dress up darling but focuses more on being an otaku rather than one aspect of being an otaku, also it is a completed story that's been tied with a nice bow.

Ep3 broke the lewd cycle...its sooo much relatable and setsup our MC as character building and characterization...u should watch it and maybe skim the horny/lewd parts if u want to and give it a try...I have red the manga and I will tell u that lewd things will drop very soon...just maybe 1 more and then genuine stuff like not too much exposure of skin and actual good relationship btw the characters

The fanservice is generally spread out, appropriate (e.g. in episode 2, yes, you do need to take measurements in underwear to properly size clothing. And the measurements taken are all necessary for what is being made), and usually contributes to character or relationship development (like Marin's teasing in episode 3). Having read the available English Manga (which should match to about episode 10 or 11 in the anime), it never gets too extreme. More side characters are added, but the focus is on Gojo and Marin's slowly developing relationship, and the cosplay designs. Every episode will have a little bit of how-to about cosplay.

I´ve read the manga and i liked it pretty much in the first 20 ch more or less, but then the fan service went from tolerable to an entire chapter without anything important happening every 2-3 chapters and decided to put it on hold until the good stuff comes out again. I´m very surprised that the adaptation is getting that wholesome feeling of the first chapters when i thought they were going to exploit the fan service to the last drop .

I really wish the anime will have just a bit more episodes or another season, because the arc after what should be the last one is going to discuss crossdressing and it's legit a beautiful arc. And then there's school festival - Gojou's gameface is top tier man.

I love the show as well, and enjoying what fan service it also provides because it feels largely in character. For 2 episodes, Kitagawa was my best girl for the season, but the gorgeously written and animated Akebi-chan has shot past her on episode 3.

As someone that has read the manga. I'm glad to tell you that the fan service isn't there like almost at all. It's actually a really wholesome story and the MC does open up over time. Honestly I found it baffling they wasted a whole episode on the measurements since this only happens in like a single chapter of the manga. Idk where that came from. I hope the aniem doesn't focus on the fan service bc the manga definitely does not
