Yeah, its not so much fear of the ocean per se, so much as its the fear of bodies of water that are deep or murky enough to seem to be bottomless. Kaboodle is a prime example of Thalassophobia, if you see her freaking out playing doctor4t's Neverend, a really cool liminal pool dungeon dimension mod. Its more likely Megalohydrothalassophobia, which is a kitbash of different phobias to describe something more specific. Fundy seems to have a phobia, or perhaps a healthy fear that intrudes into video games for him thus making it a phobia, of large deep sea creatures, and gigantic Myctophids, aka Lanternfish, would certainly trigger that due to looking so utterly alien, especially when purposefully designed in game to look more terrifying and trigger more Megalohydrophobia or Teraphobia in anyone who suffers from it, the latter being the fear of large mythical creatures or monsters. Fundy seems to have shades of Teraphobia too, given his brief panic seeing the wyvern-like dinosaur bird monsters flying above the seals.

I do wonder if the fear is a fear because it's something you find scary and it's then categorized by people, or if it's simply a fear in and of itself... I'm doing a bad job explaining it, idk how to explain what I'm saying at all TBH. I don't have a fear of manmade objects in water, however, I do have a fear of deep water, but not because I'm afraid of drowning, or because of what might be in the water, it's just the... blackness of it scares me to death. It's not the thought of some scary monster or even a real shark in the water below me, it's just the thought of if I died and sank, I'd be lost... lost to the blackness. I just wonder if my fear, whatever it may be called, is a symptom of survival instincts or from my experiences, I guess that's what I was trying to say earlier, if the fear you feel is from experiences from movies or things you saw/did as a child, or if it's survival instincts of some kind. I'm thankful it's not a super bad fear, just more of a fear if I fall off a boat, did that once (with a lifejacket) and wasn't panicking with the deep water below me, but was stressing out. Funny enough I've gone diving and I'm fine while diving, it's just while being on the surface of water lol

My tips: STAY OUT OF THE ICE SPIKES!!! you have the mod aquamarine installed which will make them waaay worse and there isn't very good loot. Look for mount-like structures under the water or just anything under the water for the snorkel which allows you to breathe underwater. Using that and the necklace oceans arent nearly as scary!

I actually know of a modpack that plays a lot like this. It has a lot of the same mods too, just not ones that increase the difficulty every few minutes… except a mod that ultra-buffs all mobs in the beginning and also has the origins mod too for players. It also has a lot of other stuff, a mod-specific dimension through progression, extra/special crafting recipes for most vanilla items and ores, special block drops, compression blocks, etc. - This is also a Fabric API modpack like what Fundy is playing, so if ya wanna add more mods to it, just make sure to add Fabric mods from curseforge onto it.

I’m also terrified of the ocean. I was almost hospitalized 3 separate times for having _severe_ panic attacks - twice on a cruise ship and once on an island*. However, I must sadly say that you being afraid of the Minecraft ocean is very funny. *the island was too small to even have a hospital, so my parents just got me wasted on a couple rum and cokes. I was 13.

Honestly this is kind of what i miss in captainsparklez modded series. This balls to the wall of doing things that keeps me on the edge. The thrill of massive boosts from defeating something out of ur league and getting op stuff and the pain of losing everything due to taking risks. Despite the angler fish in the thumbnail being why I clicked, I'd suggest leaving Aquamirae (the ice maze) for later on when you have better gear. The mod centered around a frozen ocean and deep sea creatures is gonna be bad for someone with thassalophobia no matter what. But it'll be less miserable when you have better gear! Also I think the leviathan might give you a heart attack. When you eventually get back to it, pro tips for Aquamirae: If you find a ship before a tower, you can ignore towers (unless you need the loot.) You only need to find one horn for Cordelia (the boss). Bring something to stop her from regenning when she gets low or else have a crazy high damage output. (Another reason you are NOT equipped for this right now!) Water in the ice maze is your enemy, it gives you a freezing effect. The only way you're safe in the water in this biome is a full set of armor that you can only complete by taking Cordelia out. When you get to the bunker, the eel drops unique loot.

I actually made a modpack for me and my friends and its almost eerily similar to this, multiple of the mods you had were in mine, including the increasing difficulty.. though, in my modpack, the difficulty increases based on distance from spawn and how deep underground you are. Loved this video!

changes like this are why Minecraft is my top-recommended, favorite game of all time. There is so much versatility, even in just Vanilla there is a lot to master. Add mods? Nearly unlimited possibilities! There are magic systems, technology trees, horror creatures, fantasy dungeons, armor variants, alloy smelting, dragon taming, village building, etc. Any type of game can be made into a modded Minecraft world and all you had to do was pay for the base Java version. Insanely versatile way to change up a gaming experience!

the first dungeon that Fundy goes to on the second run is something that took me and my mates like 4 hours to get a quarter way through on. yes we went with iron armour and tools but it was so difficult.
