Hello, the Mob Vote can be quite a controversial topic, so just a reminder to keep the comment section civil! Thanks! Also, making mobs just cosmetic is a good idea, to an extent. Because (I think), that if mobs were just cosmetic there would still be people calling Mojang lazy for not making them functional, or just being annoyed that they are adding 'useless' mobs. Personally, I think, that making mobs have some functionality but not so much that it feels like a feature vote or a major loss if we don't get a mob, is the best option. Because then you're primary reason for voting won't be functionality but also the mob's aren't going to be criticised as 'useless'.

I think 1 round votes are a bit worse than 2 round votes because there is a possibility that, because people that hate a mob would've voted for the other two options and the minority of people that like that same mob would've voted for only one, the least popular mob would win.

I think it's great that now people like you are showing to the comunity that mobs aren't scrapped, and that is just a votation, there will always be winners and losers, that's just how a votation in anything works. The last part of the video aknowledging that we should be rational and kind to eachother as well as be calm when the mob we vote doesn't win is right on point.

Problem with them being in "rotation" is the mobs that weren't added in the previous years have never been added into the game even after all this time, so sure the idea that they'll be added into the game "eventually" is perfectly fine and if they were drip fed in over time with the first mob voted for getting preferential treatment nobody would be mad, but from what we've seen from previous minecraft mob votes it's just not the truth. Those mobs that didn't make it have never made it into the game and might never and it's such a shame.

And what I meant by snow is that when they announced mountains as biome vote candidate, one of the features was 'snowier snow(powder snow)', and when mountains won the vote, a lot of people was like "wow you voted snow over chest boat".

Things I want in Minecraft: Shaders (it's beautiful and shiny) Ambionce for the over world and it's bioms more animals and mythical creatures more golems and illagers new weapons like the trident and crossbow new armor types like the turtle helmet and wolf armor (the armadillo won the vote) And new block types stone brick infected with sand or dirt or snow for floor builds And new hostile mobs/peaceful mobs And one new boss (Highly recommend the redstone monstrosity)

By the way, after inspecting the colour palette of the glowing item frame, I've reached to the conclusion that that functionality was most likely ment for the other naturaly glowing item that was also added in 1.17: the glow berries. So yeah, the glow squid should've lost because making it useful ment making other features useless.

Great points! I think I agree with everything except for the 1 round thing, I think 2 rounds make it feel more fair. Also I think another important thing is that the mobs feel equal in terms of content added, this was definitely a deciding factor for the sniffer vote, and it seems like its going to be with the 2023 vote as well

I think that the voting time should be as it is now everyone gets x amount of time before mc live to vote, BUT we should vote for our nr1 mob and nr2 mob. So a first round would count in everyones nr1 vote and during round to where there are only two mobs remaining everyone who voted for the lost mob would instead count their nr2 vote.

Haven’t watched past the unscripted part yet, but imo more so than the amount of mobs added per update the main problem is that with each vote having three options, and with each yearly vote having three entirely new ideas, there’s just this infinitely expanding backlog of genuinely great ideas that are most likely never gonna be added into the game, at least not for a VERY long time, but even then it’s up in the air as to which one it may or may not be. Imo they just gotta have more votes that bring back past 2nd place mobs or biomes or whatever, or maybe even limit it to two options rather than three so it’s not as diluted and two parties are guaranteed to be displeased while only one is fully satisfied, and just stop teasing so much new stuff and not promising anything like we wish they would stick to, since as the list of losers and unused ideas gets bigger and bigger it only increases disappointment on average since the content that is teased but isn’t added comparatively is much more vast than the content that is actually added. Sometimes even when Mojang DOES promise something, like revamped birch forests, they backpedal and say they didn’t promise it, even though they literally announced that it would be part of the next update, which is the exact same as promising. Or sometimes Mojang even adds something and then removes it for a stupid reason, like the fireflies which they very well could’ve added and just made the frogs NOT eat them. They just do so many things that make us distrust them and not enough things to earn it back. It takes time of course, and some recent features such as the new cherry wood, tuff blocks and trial chambers I’ve really loved, but I hope they stop undoing that earned back trust and are especially careful going forward. Edit: also I heard that they have capes to the people who actually participated in the vote which imo even if that was already planned they should’ve just not done after all the uproar and social media protesting, since there’s no way they didn’t know that was gonna piss several people off, including myself as someone who does not have a cape

While having the indefinitely expanding backlog of mob concepts is not great, to be fair, these are just mob concepts we are being shown that are put in this "maybe we'll get it, probably not soon at least" state. Whether or not they do the mob vote there will be unused mob concepts, although showing them off with a mob vote and then not implementing them is (understandably) disheartening for many players. Also, yeah they did lose a lot of player trust due to poor communication but as you've said hopefully they are in an upwards state of gaining more trust. Which seems like it is happening - just very slowly - as Mojang learns from past mistakes and understands how to do things in a better way. In regards to your edit, the cape was given if you just joined the Bedrock voting server, or if you voted through the launcher of minecraft.net. While I get it can be annoying to not have gotten the cape, I still think it's a good thing. People loved the Minecon capes back when those were in person, so if they do a cape for voting each year, I think it'd be even better than Minecon capes as you just need to own the game (and know about the vote before its too late) to vote.

@@Shamwarizim_ the recurring cape thing is definitely a good idea. Just sucks that the most controversial vote yet had to be the one they started it on lol. But yea an opportunity for literally every single player to get a new cape each year would definitely improve community morale, provided they tidy up the votes a bit. At the end of the day I will say it doesn’t hurt as much given that they’re just concepts, and maybe in some ways it would be better for them to simply not show them to us, or at least not give them *quite* as much life as they seem to in the animations and focus just a little more on information rather than presentation. I really think all of these problems would be solved with just better communication with the community. For a game as big as it is, Mojang really doesn’t communicate back and forth with us enough in some ways. But with the seemingly shifting approach to how they go about updating the game and the increasing emphasis on community feedback, I am confident that it’s a sign of better things to come.
