A Fallout 3 remaster is totally necessary due to the performance and optimization issues that plague this game on PC, not to mention the thousands of issues which were only ever fixed by the “Unofficial Patch” on the Nexus. Hell, FO3 sometimes just doesn’t work for a bunch of modern systems which is pretty rare among 16 year old games

I still remember my first time playing it very vividly.. oh 2008, what a great year. i had a year off, finished "work school" and got my degree, had a year untill my job started, bought a new pc, moved together with my girlfriend and spend so much time on Lotro and fallout 3

I just don't get why people think deleting the whole style, like the slightly yellowish tint from Fallout, looks better in any form. The yellowish tint wasn't just a visual element; it was a crucial part of the game's vibe. Its removal not only makes the game look bland but also strips away a significant part of the setting conveyed by the game design, creating a contrast from a once vibrant world to a dystopian wasteland. While sure if we consider time passed after the bombs dropped, the area would not be as dramatic in a yellowish tint. It's equivalent to saying hey, let's turn on all the lights in dark settings of a horror movie. Also, removing all sorts of tint and shade results in every part of the game being bright and clear, as seen in the before/after video. This enhances the focus on lower-quality textures. The benefit of styles like Fallout is that they fade the focus of the eye on things. Is it realistic having a tint? Absolutely not. But so aren't ghouls, molerats, any sort of mutated lifeform, being able to just radaway heavily radiated conditions. Sure, it's a "preference," but the true beauty in improving graphics is the mastery of enhancing the vanilla because you want to improve the given experience.

Finally someone who understands! I only use texture mods like HD Overhaul, Legacy Reborn and EXE and for lightning Clear Sunny Weather and the game looks way better and more realistic without compromising as much the art style.

I loved the darker night in DC Moods, but RWL seems better for lightning (only by a little). Can i install a standalone darker night mod what is compatible with RWL or would they work fine together? Also, does Enhanced Weater effect fall through building when you are in an interior area?

Yep I went with TTW best of times guide and is it the wasteland survival guide website it has a list of mods they guaranteed compatible. I love Mod organizer 2 way more than vortex as you can run different mod lists.

do you still experience random out of the blue crashes with these mods? Im using just 5 mods and im crashing every 10 minutes ... pipboy light rangex4 with cyan light, realistic wasteland lighting and BetterGamePreformance mod and the maximum txtures pack. My pc is abeast and sits at like 15% gpu usage and 10% cpu with all my settings maxxed and i get a buttery smooth 250fps but the crashes are reallly something else. it crashes while just WALKING sometimes .

Lone Vault D., how did you even got F3 to run? For some reason the game (GOTY steam version) wont even start on my PC (GF3070 laptop with Ryzen 9 5900HX and Win11). :( I tried TTW, but installing a lot of amazing stuff like textures and such requires LODgen, I followed TTW, WSG and NVVR guides to the letter twice (took me a lot of hours of modding, would be easier if I could use Begin Again pack but im in Poland so only NV PCR version for me which doesnt work with most Wabbajack modlists) and the lodgen still gets broken. I tried every solution trying to run F3, none work. New Vegas is perfectly fine though out of the box so to speak.

3 was and is still a little to grey/green for me even with these mods. A lot of people complain about fallout 4s use of bright color accents but it was exactly what I MYSELF needed for the game.

Try TTW combines the Fallout NV and 3 into one game. The websites Best of Times and Wasteland Survival Guide give you a step by step guide. The hardest thing I faced on the first go was with downloading and that you had to name some mod modules otherwise they overwrote things. But I am playing TTW it's excellent way more fun ,plus I get bored there is a train to NV!

The vast majority of mods are click and play at this point. Especially of they are implemented through vortex mod manager which is directly connected to nexus mods. I'm sure you could get the hang of it.

I have a good PC and consoles. I spend more time messing with mods than I do actually playing the games. It is frustrating but for some reason I get more joy out of making it all work than playing the games I’ve already mastered. I spent the most time putting together different mod packs for Minecraft. My kids love it. We play together. When it comes to FO3 I know nothing about modding it.

Realistic Wasteland Lighting GOTY causes some weird LARGE SQUARE TEXTURE in the sky that appears when you look straight into the sky. this happens when you come out from a building and look up. others have suggested placing the mod last in order but that didn't help. still looking for a WEATHER mod that replaces skies so that it overwrite the sky section of Realistic Wasteland Lighting

i feel like the green tint was a very intentional stylistic choice. like it makes the world feel that much dirtier, dead, and more polluted. of course everything would have this yellow green dirty look after the environment was nuked and irradiated

If your going to mod FO3 it should to be through Tale of Two Wastelands! There’s so many more mods available and people are still creating mods for TTW almost every day! Btw don’t use Vortex! Use Mod Organizer 2!

Honestly I don't think I'll ever do TTW - I like Fallout 3 and I like New Vegas, but separate. Even the improvements to gameplay haven't been enough to sway me - I like Fallout 3's non-iron sights, repair system, etc.

i never understood why ppl were upset with how fallout 3 looked when its about a post apoc story of the world ending covered in radiation and 200 yrs later so is everything supposed to look normal? the sky the water the 200 year old buildiings or post boxes bright and colorful? this is why i hated ppl saying vegas was better. Compared to 3 it was so damn bright and as the fallout games release they get brighter and more colorful. Well Fo3 & FoNV lost the artstyle somewhat. For one Powerarmor isnt very "Power" more like a Heavy Combat Armor type of thing and yes it should be more colourful atleast buildings and cars etc. This is one reason why i like Fo4 more not just because its more up to date but because it revived the artstyle the game is trying to and is said to depict. DC all looks the same grey and boring buildings same with cars and NV is no different tbh. These are not big asks they couldve made PA similar to fo4 (ofcourse not as specific like modifing all ur pieces and mixing but Frame and changing paint is not out of the 08 technology. As for buildings and cars i mean come on its just paint and make the buildings have more character.

That "glow-up" at the beginning is just a lateral move lol. Honestly though, FO3 can look much better just through color grading and lighting. But I'll mod the F out of it from characters to weapons and all the high res textures my SSD can contain.

It kinda is for some of us tho. IE even with mods, i cant play the game for more then 10 minutes without a CTD. Fixes, patches and performance mods never changed how long i could play for. did everything else they were supposed to IE FPS, stuttering and input lag. but the game in of itself suffers from memory issues which can be helped with the 4gb enabler but is not a 100% for all users. as it'll hit its cap and CTD, almost like Ark Survival Evolved getting Ark Survival Ascended because of ASE's memory and performance issues. unless BGS wants to toss a mod dev the engine code.(I assume it would be needed to improve the game, i am NO dev so I truly do not know) a remaster is needed for a playable UNMODDED experience. Great Mod list otherwise, always love to see updated recommendations for older games

keep dreaming. ITs never been discussed by bethesda and HIGHLY unlikely to ever be brought up for discussion at this point. Theyre practically making a whole new game as a freakin addon for Fallout 4 , theyre still updating FO76(albeit not very often) its just very unlikely to ever happen with theyre current projects in the works. Not to mention they would really just make it a mess with the way bethesda is going these days. I would hate tosee them remaster FO3 at this point.

A Falllout 3 is really nescessary. Right now, in this instant, if i download it from steam and open it, it'll crash in about 15 minutes. Because of changes on the Windows OS over the years. Yes, i know that there are Mods and configurations that fix that, fine, but i would gladly pay for a complete remake, that delivers better performance and overall character animtion. Less stiff enemies, with more intelligence, that actually use the cover and such. Maybe polishing up some quests to have more options to complete them. A Remaster could help performances and graphics. But this would be just a coat of paint. What i wish is a real Remake. Push it up to Starfield Engine. Think the maps as real 3D enviroments, remove invisible walls that make no sense and such.
