You put so much work into the previous house that I was surprised to see you had moved, but your reasons for moving sound right to me, and it looks like you’re in a nice older house that you can do a lot with. If you’re happy with it, that’s all that matters.

Thick vinyl plank flooring , in a wood textured finish would look great in your basement, and you can lay them without glue or click locking. They literally lay side by side, and tight to the walls, and that's it. You could have a floor laid in a day, and they are very good at getting the wood look to seem real. They vinyl is sweat proof in a basement, and wont seize up, and lift as real wood does with the changes of humidity.

Your home is known as a “Storybook” Style. It was very popular after WWI, especially when American soldiers came back to the US after the war. Many wanted a similar style that reminded them of the houses back in Europe.

Great vid. I hope you kept the buttermilk paint it's a great colour. I have the same in my kitchen here in Edmonton. It was picked because the person who did it painted Susan Hayward's kitchen also painted ours after he moved back to Edmonton where I am. Plus for the era of the house it fits...

You found a neat Arts and Crafts cottage style home. I'm sure there are a lot of vintage stores in Seattle where you can get furnishings from that era. I ran a B&B in Phoenix and one of the 3 houses on the property was from 1924. I loved that place and had so much fun searching for stuff for it! That kitchen is perfect for a single guy... or a bf who cooks.

Andrew, you did a great job remodeling the "woods" house - give yourself credit. It was emblematic of you withdrawing more into yourself and that was definitely not what you needed or need now. There has always been a lot going on inside Andrew - much more than you present to the outside world - maybe a little darker than the way we think of you. You bring an automatic smile to people when they think of you - few can do that, but it does not mean YOU are smiling inside. I have been following you since Paragould days and wish you only good things.
@kjgammon16582 жыл бұрын
Yes, very correct! Andrew is much more psychologically complex than meets the eye. Always searching, never satisfied, the deepening uneasiness or unhappiness always percolating inside. He wants to be loved so bad... But his narcissism precludes that. Only "father time" and maturity will heal this. I was once there myself.

First off....... Welcome back Andrew. Nice to see you again. The new house....... Wow man, it's awesome. And yeah, it does have that fairy tale cottage look to it. Being an older house and having some of those "amenities" such as the sconces, the hanging rail, those are cool. Things from days gone by............ And speaking of days gone by, man that kitchen stove. Yeah I'd be keeping that also. Looks amazing, and great condition. All the trees, the whole yard...... Love it. And obviously so do you. Looks like a place you will be very happy in. Take care, and Happy Holidays to you..............

If you really like this cute little house, don't change the things that will screw up its value. It is mostly original from what I can see. Kitchen counters are possibly not original. I'd love to chat about keeping it a very early 30s house, and it's not difficult to find the age. It's adorable and you can furnish it as a single man with taste.. Go slow, ask if you aren't sure and remember that 100 people will give you 101 different ideas. Stick with a noted designer, the relatively small cost will pay huge dividends. Wm.

Hey, Andrew. So cool to get to "sit down" with you again. It's a beautiful home, which I hope will delight and serve you well for a long time. I know you'll get into the yard and garden and make it your own as soon as the weather allows. (Always a guess in SEA! lol) Very distinctive architecture. I like it. Must have been cute with the snow falling on it. Get some videos of that! I 'd love to see more video of you and your friend group, you and Kolton, etc. You pics are fun, but I'm sure they're great personalities which come across best in video rather than pics. Also, take us along as you play-- on the Sound, around SEA, in the mountains, doing sports, working out, outings, exploring, shopping, and meet-ups. I know it sounds routine and same-old, but it's not to us. We are interested in you and your life, your perspectives, what you like to do to learn, for fun, to play, and for entertainment. Also, you see a lot of places as you travel about for work. Give us a curated video of your worklife in a given month-- impressions of the airports, cities, hotels, interesting chats and stimulating cases you see (anonymously, of course), homecomings. I'd love to see your days with Arbor- walks, meals, playtime, cuddles, dogparks, etc. You've got a new house to decorate and do renovation with, so show us that. Roadtrips for snowsports, around the PNW-- to the Sound, Olympic Peninsula, Vancounver, Van Island, Gulf Islands, boating on the lakes, hikes in the forest, walks around the new neighborhood, visiting downtown, etc. You don't have to highly edit or narrate. Just take us along, show us what you're seeing, talk to us as it unfolds, be yourself, and let us know our fave gay eye doc! Sending you lots of love, support, warm wishes, and hopes for a great time with friends and family these holiday days, and a fantastic New Year in SEA! You're always welcome to visit down here in the lower, drier part of the PNW. Lots to see and do. Just shoot me a DM! 💛 🐕🎄

I knew you were not going to last there the minute I watched that video when you bought the house. I have felt the same way. As a gay man especially one that loves nature, it is really hard to "tolerate" living in the city sometimes, but if you leave and buy something with more nature in a remote area, you feel very isolated. This was a struggle for me too for many years. I bought a place five years ago in Provincetown, MA that combines gay community with beautiful nature, hiking/biking trails, great restaurants and gay community. It takes a while to find the right location that combines community with access to activities that make you happy. You can also have both when you get older. I still have my place in the city and go back and forth often. Best of luck to you

Looks like a very nice house and it has so much potential but it does have a LOT of windows, especially in the basement and ground floor !!! First thing to do is get an Alarm and some security bars on the basement windows and some motion detection lights for the rear of the house. Getting furniture will be fun, lots of fine mid century furniture ... but please don't paint everything brown as this seems to be "in" at the moment. Enjoy and love your new home Andrew !

I love the Arts and Crafts style woodwork and windows in the new house. Look up Mission style furniture and other stuff like American Arts and Crafts Movement and Eastlake. They'll all go better with the style of the house than mid century. They're not as popular as mid century (which is garbage ;) ) so you can get some really good pieces for not much money.

Congratulations on the new house! Although, yellow was a popular first floor color for walls back in the 30's, I wouldn't be surprised if it a different color before the realors/stagers got ahold of it. With all that exposed woodwork and the hardwood floors, I don't think brown is a good choice, but you have all those spare rooms that you can paint and experiment with paint colors. Just realize that the lighting on one side of the house is going to be different on the other side of the house and it's going to affect your perception of the colors on the wall. Does your fig tree produce any fruit? You may want to invest in a food dehydrator(some air fryers offer this feature), if you don't already have one and/or look into fig jam and preserves production(hint: usually occurs in a kitchen)

Interesting house. I owned a tiny 18th c house for awhile and I found the lack of storage space and lack of a sizable yard for the dogs problematic. Yours comes with a basement area so storage space might not be as big of a problem for you.
