The final duel is one of the most 40k things I've heard of. Massive armies are battling between the Imperium and Chaos. At the outskirts of the battle a lone dropship flies past enemy lines with a strikeforce of spacemarines and an inquisitor. The team drops into the back line, hit hard, suffer massive casualties, but in the end succeed in their mission through a duel to the death with the BBEG.

For biomes/tables for next time, it'd be really cool to have something underground, sewers or caverns. Might be crazy complicated, but it'd be best of all if it connected to another table on the surface at certain points on the map, so you could have players move between adjacent tables, ducking underground and reemerging elsewhere...
@MordianGlory Жыл бұрын
I have thought about interconnected boards, but the issue you get is people have models on 2 different tables. That means lots of players moving around which increases the chances of people bumping into each other and their models, but also it means that you have people waiting on each other. Best to have people assigned to a table and stick to it for the day, with some minor reassignment between day 1 and 2
@Musabre Жыл бұрын
@@MordianGlory Yeah ive come up against this logistical problem too. What you COULD do is include a subterranean connection that simply takes effect in between day one and two to see what gets to move boards to reinforce another table? Cool idea though!

Biome ideas: 1) The Tryanids have cut out the middle man and infested the still living trees. Mutated alien trees that can be made to spawn infantry type 'nids and digestive fluid filled swamps growing out of old trench lines from all the imperials digging in for their last stand when their armour was called away. Deep in this horrific jungle sits the growing body of a hiveship. 2) The Imperials are keen to seize orbital control. The Spaceport is the site of this battle! Large open areas interspaced with bunkers and outbuildings, a large facility in the center of the map, with 6 imperial transports already on the field. These transports are completely STUFFED with ammo, and explode big time if killed. The center structures also contain surface to space cannons that could shoot down the ships in orbit if seized.

This may be the best video you've ever made. Would love to show up to an event like this, but im a broke american in rural texas. Kind of shame; one of my biggest ..not problems, but things i wished were different in 40k, is that since each game is in isolation, theirs no real consideration for a grander campaign. Leaving early to preserve your units is never worth it over risking it for a biscuit. Making sure certain characters survive or just buying anther round so that the other boards have anther turn of air superiority. This is no bigger picture for you to fight for. I love the idea of a massive group event like this. Also Idea for the next one. Make one table a battle barge, One part of the board has drop pods, anther macro batteries, and a third the reactor. As long as the guns are still up they can bombard a section of anther board. drop pods can freely reinforce with any units present in reserve, maybe even throw in the teleportarium for terminators in that same section. Invaders can swarm the ship and gain control of any one compartment, use it for themselves... or they can just overload the reactor and everybody has like 3 turns to evac before it blows. Maybe anther board has orbital defense batteries on the ground that can fire on it at the risk of hitting the compartment with their own boarding party in it. Bonus points if you use the Boarding patrol rules and terrain. No Tanks or large vehicles, just infantry blindly fighting for each and every corridor.

Looks impressive. You need truly big tables to pull it off. A good idea is to use U-shaped tables (like it was shown in some pics) so that even a normal sized player can move models around in the middle of the board otherwise the minimum height requirement for an event player would be seven feet. :)

Absolutely stunning work, really really impressive event! I did appreciate the narrative focus in such a large game, since I feel like narrative play is where 40k shines the most. For example, an Apocalypse match where modifiers or rules in the larger battle mats is determined by the outcome of Kill Team deployments that are happening concurrently.

Thing I used to do with large 10-20k games was make special objective rules like a chaos world where terrain constantly moves and causes dangerous terrain checks for anyone it landed on, you found interesting things that made the map itself able to help kill off a few dozen models or tanks, random traps or mine fields for defenders and ambush tokens for attackers letting them deploy on the opponents side of the board or as if they had infiltrators rules for infantry and light vehicles. You can't really play anything silly like take and hold when you have thousands of mini's on the board.
