Took some time to finally check out this legendary platformer. I want to gain more understanding of the design in this game and see what I can take forward into future game development projects. #gamedesigner

Celeste is my favorite game of all time :) I think your analysis is spot-on, modern games can be great when they don't try to appeal to everyone, but simplify the scope and do one thing really well. Personally, I love how the mechanics and the story interact with each other. Bonus points if you have 2 hours to spare: there's an excellent video called "Celeste Developer Commentary" where Maddy & Noel talk through their design process and show early iterations of the game. It's fascinating!

It definitely made an impression on me, its been awhile since I played a solid compact game like this. Got to the point, made it's mark and then let me move on. I respect developers that know how to stick to a vision. The story also was a nice touch, the game didn't need it, but the story helps with the frustration, almost made me feel like someone was there struggling with me haha, even if she is just a bunch of pixels.

Highly recommend the platformer and puzzle game 'It Takes Two' It's really fun to play with a friend (since it's multiplayer) If you're looking for more platformers, you should add it to your list.

I've started that one earlier this year but unfortunately my wife is bad at platformers 😭
