The taste of emotional damage from ShB never goes old, even after so many years. I see a thumbnail with Emet's serene face after the Hades fight, and some sprout in the corner depicted in a status of emotional dissolve, I click - no second thought. Also, I take note of the channel. Because its creator will inevitably go on to do Endwalker sooner or later, and I wouldn't want to miss the second filling.

For Emet, there is a great bit of physical story telling as well. Look at his model prior to the fight: he is hunched over, his eyes tired and weighted down. His burden has weighted him down, over and over again. A thousand, thousand life times searching for a a way to bring about the grand design. And he can do naught by try again and again. But after we beat him? Standing straight and tall. His burden unloaded. He is unfettered by his duty, his gaze clear and strong. And all he asks of us is to remember the Aincents.
@ninjafoxgamesgeekery5 ай бұрын
I like to point a few things out because there's SO MUCH to take in through the ending. In Rak Tika, when asked how Emet knows about the mural, he says "Because this is our history. Our story." When you, joined by Ardbert, are engulfed in light, Ardbert tells Emet "This is our future. Our story." Emet's lines at the end are in the trailer, from the gremlin: "Who are you? No one! Nothing!" After you defeat him and Emet asks that you remember them... he's accepting you proved yourself. You're worthy to inherit the star. Because of this, he's standing up straight, no more slouching. The weight is lifted from his shoulders. Someone else noted, yes, Urianger is actually visible floating in the water on the bottom right of the screen at the last second before the scene fades at the beach. And I noticed someone else commented on this, but when Ardbert is walking into the Crystarium to his comrades, his axe is no longer stained. His guilt is washed away. But fear not, the patches are just as emotionally impactful and Endwalker will make you think about your life, purpose, and meaning. So many more emotions ahead!

emet-selch is one of the best villains ever written in a FF story imo. He had plenty of times to kill you and your friends during the fight on the purple rocks before the hades fight and he never dealt any serious damage and just sat there goading the whole time. Think he WANTED us ( the players ) to kill and stop him
@xviii57805 ай бұрын
Imo he not so much *wanted* us to kill him, but he was just very tired and he probably suspected that his plan either wouldn't work, or whatever it would bring back wouldn't be the life he missed. He accepted that he can't move on from the past and decided to die with it, Amaurot projection being his sort of last goodbye.
@christiantaboada5 ай бұрын
Good assessment
@Stickarms994 ай бұрын
I've actually never considered that, but I think you're right. He didn't just suddenly change his mind about us right before he died; he genuinely *wanted* us to be able to prove to him that we're worthy of inheriting the star. So that he could die in peace, his burden lifted. He wanted to know that he could just entrust the fate of the star to those capable enough to bear that burden in his stead, so that he could finally rest. That way, he will no longer had to toil for eons to restore a world that he knew, deep down, could never again truly be like the world that he once knew. Of course, he wasn't about to hold back and just *let* us win, and his end goal still deeply motivated him to continue opposing us with his life. But on some level, he was always sort of hopeful that you just might overcome him, which would in reality be the best case scenario for him and us alike.
@Julien-Limosino-873 ай бұрын
Just my humble opinion but I think he made a plan aligned to the one of Hyadelyn. She will get it at the end of Endwalker. He acted like Prof Snape or Itachi. I love those kind of false villains.

@@Stickarms99 And there's also the fact that right before the Hades fight when Ardbert helps us get back on our feet and stops the Sin Eater transformation, he sees us as Azem. His dearest and oldest friend in front of him again after all those countless eons, he finally got to see his dear friend again one last time. And I think it was his realization that we _are_ Azem that gave him more comfort than anything else, as in his defeat, he knew that he could finally rest and leave everything to his old friend one last time. For the first time in all those countless eons....Emet is finally content and at peace knowing that his old friend lives on within us.
