2:59 so many dps players are champs who will go push cart for the team! as a support who plays shorter range heroes, i never really want to have to push cart because I'd rather be there for aggressive teammates. I'm aware the cart needs to be pushed, and often, right as I'm about to go back, one of the dps will disengage and go to cart. its really nice! i always make sure to use the thank you voice line while looking at them so they can see the text and know I'm thanking them specifically also, a lot of Ana players will push cart. one time, the Ana on my team got a lovely scenic tour of route 66 because the tank, dps, and i kept pushing and getting stagger kills that the enemy couldn't really contest point until 3rd. in plat/diamond, tanks typically won't play on the objective except when they actually need to contest/anchor, which i appreciate very much. dps players and some supports seem more than willing to do it, including me even though i dont prefer it. i have channeled my inner emongg and been the one to push even on Mercy occasionally* *although i, unlike so many people, actually use the cart as cover instead of standing afk on top of it, and i keep the Glock out and shoot potshots towards the fight when possible. I've stolen a few elims like that 😂

Definitely one of the biggest things holding dps back in plat is not taking off angles. Very powerful. You avoid the spam damage that is directed at your team and they have to focus on more than one angle. People mistake this for flanking, but sometimes an off angle is just the high ground slightly above your team, or if they're high ground you're low ground behind cover. Or if they're on the right, you're poking them from the left. Hopefully that makes sense. I went to high diamond just by thinking about my angles and positioning more in that manner.

It's because I would stay in one place too long alone. It's hard to explain all of this in text. Watch awkward's videos.

I feel like another part is knowledge about how heroes work and how teammates play. Part of game sense is learning how your teammates and enemies play styles and how to adapt and incorporate that into what you do. From the sound of it he was too peeved about the tank being countered than realizing the reason hanzo would've been good is that cas was already static meaning they needed someone to act as an entry/flex/distraction which goes with what was said about taking an angle forwards and playing aggro. While taking space is helpful, realizing what must be done where separates players more than mechanics. I've seen worse aim in top 500 but they know every inch of the game and vise versa.

@@WolfRites it's a ranked mode. it counts. and I would argue that open queue is harder than role queue in many ways. you have to be competent at a number of heroes in each role so you can play what your team needs. in role queue, I can specialize in 1-3 heroes of my choice and always play the role I want. i don't have to swap mid game to a different role and adjust my whole play style. listen, just because you don't have the courage to play open queue and climb in it doesn't mean the game mode is somehow less than the mode you play. don't be a dick.

Only the initial impact damage is doubled on hacked targets. It's not nothing, but it makes starting with hack VERY situational since a lot of targets will react to it the higher you climb.

I usually start off with hack for doom tracer, genji, zarya, lucio and hog.. theres probably more but most others the virus and just shooting does the trick.. Im trying to stop mobility or grabs usually if I hack first

IMO the biggest question on whether or not to hack is, how often does this character use shift? Zar, genji, tracer, kiri all worth hacking first if you can.

hi t_rev! i am also in plat currently, although i was diamond 3 last season, due to the rank reset and a lack of time to play comp, so please take my advice with a grain of salt. also, I'm a support player, not a dps player, so i don't have a lot of hero specific advice for you. I will edit as i keep watching the video. 1. on Sombra, you're in and out of fights very often. you will commit to an elim but you don't seem to commit to the team fight and end up being out of the fight for a significant amount of time. i think a lot of this is because you feel like you're not going to get healed, either because a lot of lower ranked supports think Sombra should play independently so they dont heal Sombras or because you think sombra should play independently and you don't want to burden your supports. or maybe its a little bit of column A, a little bit of column B. you are part of the team, and your supports should heal you generally speaking. yes there will be times when you're off doing sombra things so a support shouldn't be with you/shouldn't go to you to heal you. sometimes them healing you will let the enemy know where you are. there are situations like that. but during an active team fight, it is your supports' job to help win the fight and part of how we do that is we try to keep the team alive. we have the resources to heal, so that's part of the job description. it's okay to stay in the team fight for longer than you do. yes, use your translocator to escape but just escape back to your team so they can heal you and you can keep fighting. sometimes the right play is to go for the backline, but sometimes playing with your team is the right play too. if you are near the team during a fight, within LOS, and not impossible to save, your supports should heal you to enable you to stay in the fight. if you're not feeding your brains out and you don't get any healing because you're legitimately being ignored, thats on your supports. that's their mistake for having an extremely outdated and stupid belief about how to support a Sombra. 2. SHEEEEESH you hit some nasty shots on widow and hanzo. we love to see it. some thing i think you might benefit from doing is checking on your supports a little more. just be aware of where they're at, what's going on with them. part of your job as dps is to help peel. there was one moment on widow where you were getting healed by mercy as you were getting out through the tunnel on second and you didn't even look to see if they were with you or following you. they didn't get picked off in that moment but there are times when a support will make a risky play to come help you and get you out safely. it's only fair to try see if you can help them get out safely too. I know it's a lot to keep track of on top of all the fundamentals you need to keep track of, but there's a lot of value in being aware of your teammates and being in tune with them. 3. treat yourself to an mmo mouse. they come with 12 side buttons so you can have easy, immediate access to emotes, sprays, and voice lines to make sure they're in the enemy's kill cam when you get the elim. my mmo mouse was like $30 online so they're not crazy expensive and to me definitely worth the price.
