My grandpa had a worm farm next to the pond he lived at. He left bags and a pair of tweezers for fishers to collect worms. For $2 and you could grab up to 20 worms. For $5 you can get 50 worms. Fishermen always got their worms at my grandpas little worm farm instead of the tackle shop.

I remember when I was a kid my dad would load the ATVs up with our fishing gear and would task me and my sister with turning stones to find some worms so we had bait. We would ride for hours and then spend the afternoon fishing in the creek. I miss those days.

Grab an old twin mattress, and build a frame that is about 10 inches high. Put a layer of weed-be-gone under the frame and place it on the ground. (The weed-be-gone will allow for drainage.) Fill the entire frame with a mix of dirt and food waste, (no greasy foods). Throw about 4 packs of worms from a bait store into this mix. Allow about 2 hours for the worms to settle, place your mattress on top and wet it down. Not too much water, just make sure the mattress is good and damp. Cover this with plastic in heavy rains but otherwise leave it uncovered. Lift the mattress every couple weeks and add more food waste. In 1 year you will have so many worms you can start selling them yourself. You can harvest in about 6 to 8 months but you will run into lots of small worms. I always let my worm beds sit for at least 1 year. I no longer do this but i had 4 beds at one time and would rotate out my harvest every 6 months after the initial year and i made a decent profit. Best of luck.

BTW you can promote your worm sales to gardeners also. Worms help loosen the soil for added root growth, which makes for healthier plants.
