@@MermanEli I understand the feeling friend. It's really nice when a big streamer notices a game you love. I watched Otz play VHS with Dowsey a year ago and that was a blast. I hope Otz and other big streamers try PP. But...acknowledging my bias, I have to admit that PP really shouldn't be in EA or having paid Cosmetics being in the buggy condition it is atm. That's just my opinion of course. I really like the movement of Mommy Long Legs and Boxy Boo. And it's super cool to swing like Tarzan across gaps or slam doors in the Toys faces. It's just the many bugs and overall lack of polish that makes me feel the game should still be in Beta. That said, Devs need to make money. And if players are having fun and want to support the game, I have no issue with that. All in all. The more Asyms the better. Capitalism and competition bringing the best products to the consumers.

The security issue killed hype for it at the start, they squandered their chance at the spotlight by taking too long on it. Don't get me wrong, it's a tough job, but you can't go into a multiplayer game and expect to get by on EAC alone.

Hmm, I don't see the two being in competition to be honest. Despite the horror aesthetics and being asymmetrical, the two are very different games. VHS is harder to get into, more balanced and competitive-friendly, and it's at its heart an FPS that happens to be assymetrical. The teams are directly trying to fight and kill each other. DBD is less skill-based, more unbalanced, casual-friendly and it's more about chasing and running. There is little direct conflict with the killer.

This reminds me of another DbD-style game called White Noise 2. I distinctly remember you had to find notes about the monster before you can banish it, and if the monster is exposed to too much light, they get teleported away from the survivors, called investigators

I remember playing killer in that game and felt pathetic about it. If you thought ghostface loosing his power because someone looked at him was bad, in white noise 2 you get heavily stunned and moved away because they aimed their first person flashlight at you. It's just such a lame thing for what is supposed to be a dangerous power role. Even vhs monsters have a better time and they feel like the teens are the real monsters.

That includes me, i wanted to grind VHS but the idea of have more 1000+ hours and leave all my progress its frustating, so thats explain the low population in vhs. Its really sad because is free, have better graphics and really balanced gameplay and fun.

The game at launch was about as friendly to newcomers as games like For Honor are now. A small base of highly skilled players unintentionally gatekeep the game.

The thing holding this game back is that its a deathmatch mode once teens have weapons but teens get to know where the killer is and monster does not. This essentially means that all good teens just hug corners and pop out to get a free stigma once the killer walks past. Really ruins the game and forces monsters to play really boring and passive, which causes there to be no monster players and ruins the que times of teens.

Well, not quite. While the Monster can't use any abilities while being hit unless that ability says otherwise or they have a mod for that ability that allows them to use it, they can still move a bit and attack, so if they get too close to a Teen, they might be able to get a hit off. And if they do manage to get a hit off before they're fully damaged, not only does the stigma not count, but the Monster will also roar, preventing the Teen they hit (and any other Teens nearby) from using their weapons. A Teen's weapon will also break if they go down, unless they have Brett's Vice Grip perk that prevents that from happening, but that only works once, requires either 2 other Teens to be dead, 1 other Teen to be dead, or a lot of perk points (14 out of 30) and if you're NOT Brett, it'll cost more skill points to use. In addition, if a Teen goes into the injured state too many times (about six according to the wiki), they will become Busted for the rest of the match, making their chroma trails much more visible and easier to track, and preventing them from being healed back to Healthy by any means other than with a Sacred Staff, and that weapon doesn't start charged up, only charging when healing a Teen, healing yourself, when all Teens are healthy, or when using the Pure Sacrifice mod, which will cause the Sacred Staff to charge up to 50% on its own, but at the cost of draining your Health to do so, at a rate of 1% per second.

Also if a teen hugs a corner and pops out you just die if they do it I the right spot, and there are a lot of right spots on EVERY map that the monster has to go through.

As I said, you can still move and attack while being damaged as the Monster, and if you get a hit off before they fully damage one of your Stigmas, it resets, and the Teen hit (and any other Teens nearby) can't fight back for a bit. W.A.R.T. even has an armor ability that prevents one Stigma loss and allows him to use abilities while damaged for a short time.

You do not know they are there and they make zero noise so when they pop out there is no baiting and unless you played against morons you won't be able to hit them during the small bit you can move because they will space it properly. Also your ability to find them has too long of a cooldown to be used enough to prevent this.

Werewolf (who's Hunt lasts for 25 seconds) has an ability that disrupts the Teens, similar to being caught in the Monster's roar when they damage a Teen. It has a charge-up, but the Savage mod will, after escaping damage, reduce the charge-up from 1 second to 0.2 seconds, a charge-up period that is not long enough for the Teens to react to. And above all else, remember this. *THE TEENS ARE UNARMED AT THE START OF THE MATCH.* In addition, a Teen can't progress two workbenches once, if they worked at one bench and start at another before they finish the first one, the first bench will start to lose progress. If you chase them away, they either have to come back to the same workbench or start all over.

Also very important tip to new players do not use your full wepon to destroy armor, try to deal around 80% dmg to armor bar to slow monster down but still keep your weapon and keep making distance

I definitely recommend giving it a shot! It's a free game, and the devs have been actively on top of fixing bugs and adding new content, like the recent christmas update. I will say that the game has a sharp learning curve, but a high skill ceiling to improve. If you choose teen, the queue's are definitely on the longer side, the games still in early access as well. If you choose monster, you will likely get your butt kicked a bunch, BUT the monster queue's are much faster and since you get so many games, you can shrug off losses and learn quick! If you decide to play, good luck - It's free, so no harm in giving it a shot, you might like it!

Glad to see you give the game another spin. I've been having a good time with it, myself. There've been a lot of improvements since it's come out in Early Access. Pro-tip about the book of the dead: it appears in one of 25 pre-determined spots in any given map, so if you can get those memorized it becomes a much quicker snap for the teen players. The purple stuff is from the Busted status, which is permanently applied once you've been hit 6 times. There's also an item monsters can use to temporarily inflict it. The only way to recover while Busted is using an uncharged Mending Staff weapon to heal the teen. Body blocks are selectively smart since teens are only finitely able to be hurt before being hindered badly. They're good for if a teen needs to live because they have a kill weapon or they're going to die if downed again and you happen to have plenty of health bar left so you may as well be a wall for the greater good. The reason why you can't reshock the teen is because they're glowing because the shock afflicts them with a status that stops a reshock for a short time. Basically, they're shocked for 3 seconds, and 4 seconds after that they can be shocked again. Makes it where you can't oppressively keep a teen pinned. I've been trying to use my streams to bring some more attention to this game, myself. I'd love to see it grow. Perhaps I'll see you around in the future, since I play on the EU servers from time to time.

Otz don’t forget to read the monsters abilities through the mutation section! It’ll tell you important numerical values whether that be cooldowns or effect duration, it’ll also give you through info about any effects a skill will apply, the game has a decently steep learning curve so take your time! And ask the vhs community about any questions you may have! I guarantee any problems you have with this game can be avoided, same with learning how to counter each monster ❤

a mild explanation of features added since last time otz played this: plagues can be obtained without bringing them in by hitting survivors eight times. the plague fetched is random each time. busted status: The word "Broken" was copyrighted, so they had to improvise. a broken teen cannot be healed to the healthy state, unless healed by an unpowered staff. also, otz didnt know, but while in DEATHWIRE's drift mode, he can do a drift move by pressing the movement key opposite to the direction you are currently moving in. great to quickly peek a corner but stay behind cover

Reading through the comments, it seems like the biggest issue with the game is that playing "Monster" isn't fun. If no one wants to play Monster, then queue times are longer, which turns people away, etc. Monster generally needs to be buffed. In the first game, Otz returned to the same crafting station whenever he needed a Cursed weapon. Perhaps after a station is used, it should be "deactivated" until all stations of that stigma have been used, so Teens have to seek them out, forcing them to take risks rather than hanging out in one corner the whole game. Maybe Monsters, as the game develops, should get a wider variety of power types. Dollmaster is a good example of having a character who isn't just a slugger the way WART and the Werewolf are, and if the next Monster is a shapeshifter, that could be pretty cool! I don't really know what other kinds of Monsters there could be, but these new designs are much more unique than WART and Werewolf! Also, they need to actually market somehow.

I really miss VHS. I'm just sad that the game is suffering from the Asymm Curse (survivors being significantly stronger and/or easier than monster, to an insane extent). The biggest reason why I don't enjoy this game anymore is purely because of the Teens' power level, which forces the Monster to play extremely slow and scared, which never feels good.

I’ve been playing VHS non stop for the last week or two and I’ve already sunk 48 hours worth of time into matches (out of 90 total on steam meaning 42 of my hours are spent in menus/queues unfortunately) But I’ve been enjoying playing it so much that I haven’t played the dbd winter event whatsoever so far Granted, I’m probably burned out from dbd (after 9k hours) but VHS has been a refreshing treat that I’ve barely gotten frustrated with I play all monsters but mainly Wolf and Doll And I play a bit of teen, just the queues are so long that I don’t bother as much. Glad to see some of the dbd folk that left it for dead are slowly coming back to give it another chance.

It completely stops your momentum and lowers your speed dramatically, mixed with how stealthy teens can be they just hide in a cheeky spot and as soon as you go past they blast you while you cannot run anywhere. No counterplay and good Teens did it way too often to the point playing Monster was worse than playing Killer back when Survivor meta was at it’s peak. They should make it so certain abilities can be used while taking damage and you move faster than you do now because once you’re caught by good Teens you’re dead 9/10. Even streamers mumble to themselves as soon as they see a Teen “Oh I’m dead” Also I would go as far as to say Teens get a lot more info than the monster does which was good when matching new Teens vs a good Monster(previous matchmaking was really bad) but now that they said they fixed it I think some more information for the other Monsters would be nice. Next would be the progression system taking too long for us to unlock things(back when I used to play it took 100 hours worth of matches played to max out a character’s Journey, and all of that just to unlock underwhelming and boring perks and a few cool mutations. Also when it’s a 1v1 the Teen is pretty much dead, it would be nice to see some fighting chance being implemented (free book of the dead if not used yet or way faster crafting)

@@queuebe4068 those are some of the main issues, Q times will only improve once more players give the game a chance, and since there’s no advertising and the new player experience is so rough(especially for Monster) you just don’t see them sticking around. Teens get long ass Qs and new Monsters got wiped, in less than 2 months the game went from 4.6k ppl to 400 and now 200. I believe wholeheartedly this game DESERVES a second chance, it just needs the devs to take the right steps to fix it. I genuinely believe in VHS and I pray so it succeeds because I enjoyed it.

@@xornedge8204 i agree 100%... back when i played it... im a solo mind you so as a teen with no mic you get destroyed... and as a monster it felt really stressfull to even move... and constantly ambushed by teens htat blast you into oblivion... the only killer i did kinda well was dollmaster and thats cause you can tp away if you are attacked

@@TObserverT Doll Master kept nerfed to Oblivion too. Sadly good Teens didn’t like having a character with an extremely high skill ceiling get value for the effort put into learning him. Last time I played they were gutting his late game pressure with some Doll count nerf, I think it was every time you get stunned you lose a Doll, which is really stupid for a Monster that NEEDS the Dolls to even have a power in the first place.

VHS is so great. As a monster player, I am happy to be there for all teens, also I don’t mind being gank squatted, its still much more fun then facing a swf in dbd. Also some hints, tips & tricks: In otz teen gameplay, he faced the W.A.R.T. (Weaponry Amphibious Replicant Technology), his abilities are: Leap: he leaps forwards and lands with a shockwave, staggering you for a very short time Acid armor: he armors up, which protects him against weapon damage and drasticly reduced the slow of weapons, also can still leap when hit. Destroying the armor with a weapon is possible, however at the cost of used weapon. So either outkite him, or use 2 weapons. If wart hits a teen while armored, the armor is gone. Detect: Wart sends out a shockwave that comes back after a few seconds. Teens are hit twice with it. When it returns, it shows the location of the teen when first hit, giving wart a rough idea of where you are. I Love wart, it is my main. Also his chase theme and terror radius is insane

This game makes me sad. When I have not played it I love the idea behind it. No hooks to camp, objective forces you to get up in the monster's face at lest once per objective. Mix in Useful Items that let you find what you need, some of this I low key wished was in DBD in some minor form.

One thing to remember when playing as Monster is that "Feasting" reveals you to the entire team of Teen players. Exposed in this game is simply "Your aura is revealed", and not an instadown like DbD. You can use this to your advantage by baiting them into coming to you, though for the most part it's a disadvantage. Feasting also does a small amount of extra damage to the health of the downed Teen, so you can use it to get them just a little bit lower if you know you're safe at the moment-- It's like 0.25% health per second, so it's barely worth it, but it is an advantage. While downed, they already take damage over time, you just slightly accelerate it by feasting.

Fun fact, every map has a strong loop and okay loops. Loops are only as strong as ones skill level using said weapon. Us competitive players call it 'kiting". In high level play kiting is essential for your team as it buys them time to craft, heal, pickup downed teammates, ect. Hope this helps

Honestly, I still think Video Horror Society has an interesting concept and has potential to be even more fun than a game like DBD. The main problem with it is really the lack of players which is a real shame. @@capafer4266 not true, it depends what servers you go on. But I find monster fun to play. I've gotten a good handle on werewolf and I play it super aggressively. Using it's speed barely gives teens a chance to react when you come flying around a corner
