AvemZin add new game modes first of all. For example, add a “World Cup” format where there are 10 players and 1 goal (just an idea). Fix the item shop system so that items of our choice are attainable through playing the game, someone like me who has 2000 hours in the game shouldn’t have to pay money for things we like. They’ve already changed the esport circuit for the coming seasons, but advertising it more clearly to the rocket league community would also help. There is so much they could do but clearly they don’t have a marketing department.

IMPLEMENT A CHAMPIONSHIP IN RANKED. A really cool rank system would be to have ranks with whatever system you want, but at the point of ranking up (like from Diamond to Champ), implement a championship game between 2 players who are on the verge of the next rank. Your queue should wait for another player in a similar situation (I know a 5 min wait can be annoying, but this will push intensity). This championship will create pressure and make the game even more intense. Likewise make a game like that right before de-ranking, though a little less serious. Finally, a super random idea is that instead of MMR in the lower ranks, the game should use “Fragments” where winning gets you a fragment. If you win enough games, the Fragments build a key that unlocks the championship. If you lose, you lose a fragment or even get to choose one from the opponent. If you lose the championship, maybe break off 1 piece of the key.

Although I like the creativity, I don’t think there are any changes that need to be made with ranking up and down, nor some matches being more important/pressure than others. Frankly, I think the MMR(or ELO, I don’t remember correct terminology) based matchmaking needs to be slightly adjusted to try to limit boosting even more (as competitive matches tend to place a diamond 3 a champ 2 and a diamond 1 against all champ 2’s).

I can’t tell if it’s a greater number or lower, because I feel as though the higher end of the skill bell curve has grown in population. What I’m trying to say is that those in diamond 2 tend to show the skills of someone who was champ 1 or 2 like 4-5 seasons ago, and thus I feel it is honestly harder to get into champ. I got up to diamond 3 div 4 at one point, where I was carrying every team I was with. That was 2 or 3 seasons ago. I took maybe a one month break around the end of that season, came back, and started playing at diamond 1/plat 3 div 4. It took me from that point until now (probs about 3 months on and off) to actually progress back up to diamond 3.

@@retro7165 Well the counter to that arguement, is the playerbase improving at a rapid rate, and the meta change that has happened over the last 10 months has driven the game to be very mechanical based and solo play based, which is why you may see players being ex champs in diamond when in reality, its just the community getting better overall at a rapid rate at the high end of the ranking system. I myself struggle to get back to 1800 gc nowadays because of the change in how people play. They play more aggressive and mechanical.

King Triton To be clear, I agree that it is definitely harder to rank up. I tried to make that a bit clear in my original post with my personal anecdote. All I’m saying is that I don’t know if there are more people who are champion or grand champ nowadays percentage wise than there used to be, because things have advanced so drastically. The other day I played against a guy in solos who was champ 3, and every shot he took, whether it was a ceiling shot with a flip into an air dribble, or just a simple power shot, was pinpoint accurate. People these days are far more skilled than they used to be in terms of mechanics, so I feel as though there are far less of those people in champ or grand champ as is just based on the advances.

I’m not sure if this is already a thing (bc I have never read up on anything that states this exists) but I think ranking up/down needs to be more heavily dependent on individual score, and of course the individual scoring/assist time/saves thing would have to be reworked a bit. Personally, solo queueing sucks, especially because you can absolutely have an amazing game, but be dragged down by either toxic teammates or teammates who just may have had an off game, and lose despite absolutely carrying. In this loss, you still have a great chance to derank. My thoughts are that ranks need to be individually based to some greater degree so someone who just gets unlucky with teammates is less impacted by a loss than someone who clearly dragged the team down and deserved a derank

I've actually talked to some of my friends before and told them they should try to play it. But the fact that there is not a big increase in players is making it to where there aren't a lot of people with the same experience as them. So if they did play they just get discouraged and stop playing because they would lose all of the time. Most people who play Rocket League have had the game for years and even if they aren't that good they are still way better than someone who is just starting out. So not a lot of people are willing to give rocket league a try because no one like to lose and they don't think they would get very good at the game from losing all of the time.

I was thinking about something you were talking about there towards the end with Psyonix potentially missing out on revenue on players who would get it FTP. Let's say the average is $5 per person which would be $25 for those who bought the game. I think the money could easily be supplemented, if not be even more financially successful, by the in flux of players getting it FTP spending, on average, $5.

The ranking system is still flawed. On numerous occasions I’ve ranked down after winning. I don’t know if this is only a Xbox issue or what but it’s happened here and there since season 4. That’s just that. the whole winning 3 or 4 games in a row and still not ranking up is just as frustrating if not more.

I think they should make it free to play, however I don't know if steam actually has the current top player count correctly, for the past few months rocket league averages roughly between 250000 to 300000 online between 6PM to 9PM (GMT). this could be different at other times but maybe it only counts the players from steam and not from playstation 4.

The whole blueprint system is terrible. 90% of those items nobody is ever gonna open because they’re losing credits. At least crates were good and had a surprise factor. When I saw that crate icon after a match I got excited. I don't know what exactly you feel about the ranking system, I think it is fine as is. The only thing I would change is to make MMR visible in the base game without the use of mods or external websites. Just like SC2, the ranks are just for show and the only thing that matters is MMR. Any sort of system that messes with that ends up making the game more frustrating. i.e League of Legend's rank system makes me want to fucking rip my eyes out.

Just make it to where it's free to play casual games and you can't buy blueprints or get new decals or anything until the game has been bought. Then it's free advertisement, people get to play for free, and the competitive players won't have to deal with more smurfs unless they buy the game again. And the people that already bought the game can have a ton of coins added to their account (not necessary but like... I've never had those coins for blueprints so please)
