Sorry for this essay, the Gravity Rush series are some of my favorite games. The moment I tried the demo I REALLY wanted the Vita, as I fell in love with the character designs and music. Even though I feel like its potential wasn't fully tapped and clumsy decisions were made along the way (story and design wise), I loved its setting, music, art, characters, and while the mechanics were flawed, I had alot of fun while playing. I enjoyed flying around, doing kamen rider kicks, parkouring and gravity sliding around town like some punk skateboarder. I actually enjoyed the racing challenges more than the combat in this one. Kat is one of my favorite video game characters, and I don't have many of those outside of some fighting games. Her design is cool, she's cute AF, I like her naiveté, upbeat personality, willingness to help others, confidence, and cheekiness. Also she has a goth gf. Kat is all about the present. She is more interested in what's going on around her and saving people; you'll forget that she is an amnesiac. She may come off as a pushover but her inner thoughts and later events show she has her limits, and even a bit sarcastic. At one point she joins the army only to go AWOL. I adore this floaty kicky gyaru hobo. Kat is bae. Before GR2 I got Remastered to unlock costumes in the sequel, and while replaying I appreciated the game even more. I even platinumed it again, which isn't something I do. It's probably cause it's an easy platinum, but also because I love the game so much. I'm proud of the fanbase for delaying GR2's servers shutdown. Sure it's a game that doesn't really need online functions but I'm more mad at the implications that Sony didn't treat this IP very well; its lack of marketing, getting overshadowed by other games like Yakuza 0, and the feeling that some corners were cut, which is disheartening when Toyama wanted this series to be remembered by many. Like...pls play these games Also uh, Sexy stages when? Hopefully after reviewing Gravity Rush 2.

Bro you are a man of taste. Loved these games flaws and all. Sadness cuz it wasn't treated properly by Sony, launched in a crowded ass window near tales of bersia, yakuza, nioh and kingdom hearts collection with horizon zd coming shortly after and the only game that got marketed heavily was horizon. Shame on Sony.

The most entertaining Playstation title is the most underrated. I've been in love with this game ever since it was a demo on the Vita and needless to say it's easily my favorite franchise. Now imagine my reaction when GR2 came out, that game is EVERYTHING!! They didn't just innovate a franchise, they made it impossibly better than it already was! Japan Studio has earned my respect at that. Hopefully, they are not intimidated by the poor sales and release a 3rd installment, especially now that Playstation fans are supporting 1st party titles a lot.

I really love the characters and the lore of the world. The lore blows my mind and trying to figure out what the world and kat is. Of course part 2 explains it all. Part two throwing stuff is over powered and is used a lot more than trying to do that cannon spike drill move. I really love this series. I want a part 3 I really love doing the side mission. They add so much good story compared to other games that want me to kill a rats in the basement for 10 gold.

Great! I wanted to get the first game, but the brasilian psn wasn't helping with the price, then i found at a store the second one, physical media version and very cheap, so i end up buying it. So far i'm enjoying a lot, they kept all the very different side quests, varied locations to explore, now they offer a lot of upgrades, and some of them will encourage you to use melee combat, unlocking several hits to your basic combo. But the most amazing aspect is how good looking the game is now that the second game was made for the ps4, everything so bright and colorfull, very nice. hope to see a review of it too!

The Gravity Rush series is AWESOME! i first found out about the GR2 demo last year when randomly browsing the PS Store out of boredom. I fell in love with the demo and saved up money to buy both the first and second game about a month ago. The game is very unique and has a sense of charm to it that makes you keep coming back for more! GR2 steps it up a notch from the first installment, and I consider it to be the best! I really do hope they come out with a third one, but I heard that the creator said that it would most likely be on the PS5...;(

I like this game a lot, despite it being obviously low budget. Especially the music and atmosphere are something I don't get that often from games nowadays. That being said, I clearly remember the audio mixing during boss fights being ass. Everytime you beat them and see the special move kill, the game audio cranks up to 11 for some reason. Weird thing is that the second one is probably a lot better as a game, but for some reason I liked the atmosphere in the first one more... Maybe it's cause I got used to it and it didn't feel fresh and unique anymore.
@beat-man51676 жыл бұрын
I felt the same thing about the music in the sequel. The first game had some really comfy ass music, and Resistance and Extermination is a great battle theme. Plus going to depths of Boutoume was an interesting journey. Some of the places in GR2 felt disjointed.
@gurglinghermits30436 жыл бұрын
The first game feels intentionally and consistently more atmospheric. The game really does feel more like a ‘Daze’ like the original Japanese title suggests, in that you’re really trying to orient yourself to this strange and dizzying world. There’s lots of questions you’re always asking about the world lingering in the background. It’s much heavier on the scope of the lore. Meanwhile GR2 feels more like a ‘Rush’ since the game tends to forego many of those mystery moments in favor of skipping you along your merry way to your next fun activity or action set piece. There’s a bit less contemplation about the strangeness of it all, but it is closer to the events happening within the world imo.
@beat-man51676 жыл бұрын
You've pretty much nailed exactly what I was thinking when I didn't know the words to convey it. GR1 consistently made me curious of where the story's heading as it made me feel like the it was leading me somewhere.

I first saw Gravity Rush on PS Vita when it first came out. I really wanted to play it, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Years passed by, and I found the CD and I was like "cool I am buying it" and there was a squeal of it, so I got it as well. After playing the first part, I can say I really enjoyed it. I thought the idea of controlling gravity for super powers was sick, till I got motion sick watching Kat fly around. I really like the mystery part of the story, and I can't wait to explore the 'world' we are in and those 'black hole' stuff. (Still playing the first part of the game.)

I totally agree about the boss fights. Halfway through the game, I just started spamming my special attacks to beat them. Most of the bosses do suck but i never really died except maybe like once. I hated the alias fight because of his dragon head cores. On second playthrough I realized that its a waiting game where he is only vulnerable before making a voice taunt then fires at you before going off to the next fuel silo. Raven and Yunica were decent. Their themes are cool. While Yunica wasn't that great, it did feel like i was in a dogfight. They were never really hard but I felt the similar to your criticisms with ff15 bosses. Dodging is spammable, and REALLY useful; try not to forget midair dodges. While stasis is clunky, it helps to throw debris at enemies then follow it with a gravity kick. Gravity sliding is faster and funner way of ground traverse. i.imgur.com/ZXMoZxQ.gif The great thing about these games as you can seamlessly change modes of traverse. From running and jumping into a gravity shift and aim towards the ground into a gravity slide. The camera orientation issues can be solved by just furiously mashing R3. You'll be *mostly* fine. I have the right stick sensitivity high and the motion controls to very low for minor aiming adjustments. Reason I bring all that up is to show that this game is not that clunky, at least from my experience. Not many gameplay vids on yt show this. I dunno if you notice this: as you bounce off a gravity kick, you can tap L1 to cancel the knockback and quickly press R1 again and spam gravity kicks faster. It is a tad broken, but only a problem near endgame after many upgrades imo. My problem with the combat is not that it's clunky, it is because it's becomes kinda unbalanced later on. It's not that kinda action thats about combos, but i feel it's not great when combined with simple combat that it's too focused on. The second game does reward ground melee, which it builds up the special gauge instead of it automatically charging. And it's good as I enjoy doing those ground combos anyway cos she looks cool doing those kung fu kicks. And the stasis is made better, if not OP lol.

I recently finished it, took me a while because I kept abandoning it (it became boring and frustrating to play). I didn't really like the game; in general, it's a good product, the music is fun, the protagonist "Kat" is super cool, the art design is wonderful, but besides that: -Awful controls -Empty Open World -Terrible Saving System -Annoying Enemies (combat gets old very fast) -Repetitive objectives and side quest's I have some more nitpicks, but let's leave it there, after playing it for the last time, all I wanted was for it to end already so I could close that game forever.
@cactussenpai96256 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Gravity Rush is a weird game. It's not a game for everyone, because of the controls and the art style. I for once, love the controls to bits. You hated them. It's amazing how people can have such different opinions about games! But I'm glad you at least gave it a try and finished it instead of just skipping it.
@Fullbatteri6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, honestly, all my other complaints would have gone to the trash if I had liked the controls; I'm older now, lately, I've realized more and more that I have less tolerance for "bad" controls that to anything else on a video game. I wanted to love Gravity Rush, the game just looks so beautiful, it's like the kind of game I adore, and by the end I was so incredibly mad at the controls and the camera, that the whole experience crumbled, and I started seeing more and more things I didn't like, again, when I like the controls, I ignore most of the problems with the game. I'm glad you liked the game, it's definitely a product that deserves an audience, it has so many good things about it, that's why I didn't give up and finished it with all the DLC sidequest included (how else could I give an honest opinion if I just had thrown it away). In the good news, my sister absolutely adored the game, her only complaints where that some missions (and the final boss) felt eternal to her, and the saving points where a real problem for her (they don't let her play as long as she wants, so she ended up repeating some missions because she just couldn't save the progress). Cheers bro!
