Absolutely nailed it with the Silent Hill 4 comparison. I love them both, but the cross-over hauntings in Fatal Frame 3 have stayed with me much more over the years. They’re so much more subtle and creepy. Tbh I forgot everything that happens plot-wise in the game but everything that happens in the bathroom... I still get freaked out by showers with that cloudy/frosted glass

My favourite Fatal Frame! And on my Birthday Week! I love the story and the super solid mood and general atmosphere in this game! I'm really happy to see you review it. My only gripe is that I wish it was a longer review, but that's only because I enjoy your content and review style and I love listening to your perspectives on titles! Very happy you did this! Keep up the awesome reviews! :D By the way, any chance you can review a game called Ku-On? It's a From Software horror title, and I've seen almost no one touch it for reviews. It's a brilliant little title, and I think you might enjoy reviewing it if you can get your hands on it. Also a PS2 game.

I finished this game last year, i really enjoyed it, i liked how it got more personal than the others games. The plot elements bonding the three games together and stuff, cool ideia. the combat forces you to use fatal frames regularly and i really liked it, made the encounters harder. but i'm not sure what is my favorite so far haha. btw i started the fourth game on wii, clearly took inspiration on the third game, you will see.

The first one would be a solid start. It focused on one mansion, the sequel on the other hand had multiple and more open areas to explore. It wouldn't hurt to start in Crimson Butterflies either. Your choice.
@thorhighheels6 жыл бұрын
The first 3 Fatal Frame games are on PSN. Which is where I got this one as well. Plot wise it's best to start with the first one, but it is a bit rough compared to the others, so I wouldn't stress playing it too much if you don't end up enjoying it that much.
@FoshanWingChunKuen6 жыл бұрын
I really loved this game when I play it more than 10 years ago. At first I feel it so much slow than Crimson Butterfly but I was so invested in the story that I couldn't contain a few tears at the ending. Great review as always and best regards and happy new year from Argentina. Btw.... you should really check the game Total Overdose... a really bad but extreme addictive and fun game... an strange hybrid of Max Payne, GTA Vice City, Prince Of Persia, etc....

I tried to play this game when I was younger and couldn't really get into it due to its ambiguous objectives. Also from what I recall, the beginning section was super slow paced and drags on quite a bit. I did a blind run with a friend to try and show him how scary the fatal frame games were and ultimately we ended up getting bored by it. I think you are right about this game being different from the first 2 in how its focus more on its plot and trying new things by trying to pysche out the player giving them a sense that they might be going insane and truly empathizing with the victims they are investigating. Definitely a game to play by yourself and really pay attention to the plot/dialogue. Great video as always, I definitely have to give this game another go.

Always wondered about this third entry. After setting aside the first sequel, and the first entry haunting me, or rather beckoning me to replay it this does spark attention in going back to this franchise. Then there's the fourth and recent installment to consider getting into as well, which I understand can be rather janky from a demo playing perspective on my part. Thanks for setting the new year into spooky motion.

Tbh this is my favorite game in the series, so it's really cool you appreciated all the things I love about it. The backtracking is a little annoying but it never bothered me much. My biggest gripe was being forced to fight with Kei's shitty camera.

This is probably my fav one in the series, I just like the theme of you getting used to a place and suddenly getting betrayed by its, as you put it, coziness. Also, Nostalgia and it being my first game on the series might help it a bit, but it's the pacing, it's well made. Granted I never had a wii or wiiu to play the other ones.

fatal frame 3 is def my fave game in the series. it's so personal and so melancholy. i definitely understand the cons you talked about, but they never truly bothered me. maybe it's just because i didn't die that often lol. i also just enjoyed the atmosphere and music, so i didn't mind backtracking too much- also for completionist reasons, because of you backtrack there are side quests and extra hidden ghosts as well as hidden files. there's just something for everyone in fatal frame 3 i feel.

I really like this series, and I started from 3 then went back for 2 and love them both, like 4, can't play 5 cause I don't own a WiiU. I already like the Japanese aesthetic a lot + horror + effective drama, and at the time I didn't really care about the technical aspects so much to be bothered about it. But my experience is boosted because my first run with it was in an old house in the afternoon, the lights coming through the curtain and the door opened to the silent corridor. That house twist actually traumatized me a little though.

Great new video dude. I have always wanted you to cover the FF. Will you be covering the earlier installments as well? Also I have been hunting for FF and it is hard. FF is more rare. There weren't a large amount of copies to begin with couple that with what copies that are good enough left, circulation is piss poor for sure. As we move into the new decade the culture of retro will include the 90s and early 00s. As a result demand and interest will rise and people will be looking back with fondness. It makes my quest a whole of alot harder. I bet if i do find a copy of any FF its gonna have a hefty price tag. I am so irked that all the .Hack games go for 50-75$. Can anyone tell me if the prices I am seeing are truly justified? Another to add here is Suikoden. Anyway awesome vid looking forward to what you have planned for us in the near future. I have mixed feelings about this game. Main minus of this game is it length. Survival horror is a genre that is very repetitive and became frustrating quickly. What's the point of making 20 hour horror game. After 10 hours it gets worse nad worse. I hate backtracking and half of this game is backtracking. I like that it have a lot of new cool features and story is good( although it's too much connected to previous games in non obvious way, it's very easy to get confused) I also think it's the scariest of the trilogy. But i won't play it again because it's too repetitive after 10 hours.
