As somebody who similarly has had a large hiatus from viewing F1 or playing any F1 games, playing F1 2018 on Gamepass has totally reignited my interest in both the games and the real thing. If anybody is unsure about buying F1 2019, I suggest trying 2018, although it notably lacks the additions of the 2 fictional drivers or driver transfers, everything else is as stated in the video, Codemasters really are the kings of video gaming motorsport.

@Tomás lol how about Rogue Squadron on N64, the level challenges to get medals were brutally hard....but if you did it you felt like you did something amazing..... like I remember in RS there was a challenge to fly Beggar's Canyon and fly through the eye in the needle at the end which was pretty hard to nail cus at even half speed if you were off by even a little you'd hit the sides and blow up lol and you could only do it in a X-Wing if memory serves they had all sorts of other challenges too, combat, flying ability, accuracy, survivability etc even speed lol the demands for doing the challenges were demanding but not mandatory, all you had to do to progress was finish the main mission objectives and for bronze, silver gold medals I forget what went into em but it was all about how well you did, shoot down X many enemies, be fast, be precise, don't die too much, I think if you got the side objectives too you got bronze and the others added more objectives like Goldeneye ---- speaking of Goldeneye that was another, modern games just mess with AI or add more AI or make your shields/armor/health mean less but Goldeneye only slightly upped AI, added more enemies and added more objectives without going to lengths oh let's give the lplayer half health or no shields etc.... hell even Timesplitters did this but those games were a lot smarter with AI I mean TS1 was simplistic and once you got the time crystal the splitters would come after you aggressively so you'd have to run to the portal game 2 added a real story to it, splitters only showed up now and again game 3 went deeper and added a real enemy to fight, not just the splitters.....eh still all 3 games had real challenge to em and were fun

9:58 "And how rapidly McClaren ascended" watching in 2020, I don't think many people could have guessed how quick their ascension to the top of the midfield would-be this year. That's what's great about F1, even if the top team has been dominating for years, nobody can predict which mid-field team will take home the points on any given day. Between rule, politics, engineers and engine manufacturers changing seemingly every other day, it keeps the sport fresh. And fresh is what we need now since Ferrari is a mid-field team now.

Your opening to this video is almost word for word how f1 has been in my life. It started with an F1 game on Sega Genesis, then one on N64 that I sunk a lot of time. Then I fell off until F1 2010 and I was hooked again but fell off later. This year my sister's boyfriend got me back into F1 and after catching most of the first half of the season I picked up 2019 for the summer break. I did nothing but play it for two weeks straight. What this game lack is that rival drivers are all pretty much same. Example Max should be Max, aggressive and hard to overtake. Kimi fast but fair on racing. And also for some reason i like to have option to join to F1 season on mid-season. There is something fun to go to Williams on middle of season 2019 when results have been very bad. But since you replace Kubica for example Spa gp and you beat Russel or got point and turn Williams reputation. There is something i like to think on my F1 sim.

I always tell people who dont watch f1, that if you really wanna know why and how F1 races are more intense than it looked, try and play an F1 game with minimal to no assists and in a mid to bottom teams. You can feel how delicate and intense battles are in races. Battles for points dont only lie within the wheel to wheel battles. The strategies, the qualifying, practice sessions, car reliability, r&d, management, all are crucial elements. Theres a reason why certain drivers are really happy with only a 9th place and some successful drivers say it's "very hard" to achieve what theyve achieved.

So glad to see this video! I've been grinding the codies f1 games since 2012. Lots of ups and downs in the yearly iterations but I'm very happy that 2019 was the one you decided to give a shot and talk about. It's a wonderful game. The codemasters games have seemingly endless depth. When you're first learning, there's the burden of building muscle memory for how the cars behave, having to memorize lines, braking points, and turn in points for ~20 tracks, learning pit strategies, etc. But the more you play the game, new challenges present themselves as old ones become mastered. And this pattern doesn't stop no matter how high up the leader boards you are as a player. There is always another layer of complexity to these games that you can master to gain time.

I love that you compared it to Wipeout, that's what i tell people who are interested but don't know anything about F1, being familiar with it helps but at its core it's Wipeout (though i'm a Rollcage kinda guy).

What in the world, I didn't know an F1 game was this deep. There is a whole infrastructure under the simple premise of racing cars, and I *love* it.

Every time you win in F1 you should play Tema Da Vitoria because that's what Ayrton Senna would want

I’m legit excited for the CoD4 Years Later, considering I just bought it as a newcomer to the franchise. I can feel that intensity that people always look back on fondly.

I've been checking back on the channel every day after you teased us with the fucking nuke scene and it's still not here. I haven't even played COD 4 in years so I don't really know why this matters to me so much but... please!

No games get my heart rate and adrenaline going like good racing games. Fighting games can get close but a good race literally has my body thinking I was actually just in a dangerous and close race.

I really didn't expect to enjoy this because I could never see myself playing this type of serious racer games even though I have been a fan of F1 since I could remember. But I could really feel that this video was a result of a huge satisfying journey that started from a small fire and I appreciate that a lot. it's always very nice to see how someone gets suddenly invested and passioned about something new. ( in that regards I really really really suggest the documentary "Speed", and if you want a good action film about F1 "Rush" is the best choice ).But all that been said I am constantly feeling like I can't understand the point of this types of videos you make, I don't know if it's my English skills or maybe a lack of understanding but it is really hard for me to get a perspective on them, for example, was this a good game or Bad? do you have more interest in the sport itself or the game that it's based on? do you want racing games to be RPG or only about the races? and most of all do you recommend this game or not?. in this world of youtube we are used to being spoon-feed everything and that's probably on us but still, I could always see the benefits of a longer and more structured video than one jam-packed full of info but short. but nonetheless, this was definitely a joy to watch and I wish you all the best.
