the manga confirms that light does do research on his victims, and avoids killing petty criminals (it seems impossible bc of how much people he judged, but it seems it’s one of the many plotholes obha doesn’t talk upon 😭), so the amount of innocents light killed probably wasn’t many

I don't remember why he told Light that specific lie, but there was a reason (probably to just discombabulate him). But the author also said that L never had a friend in all of his life, until this point in the show. :(
