As I recall, the Tokyo Dome announcment said they'd be localizing the previously Japanese only games. Everything should be in English. Personally, I hope this does well enough that we get a DS game collection with reenabled online support.

i'm hoping that this will do well enough for konami to move on to do the ps1/ps2 games, gamecube, and maybe even the ds games as well. like, they could easily do a "duel academy years" collection for the gx era games. for the second half of dm, they could do something like "millennium ages" for the forbidden memories trilogy and anything else missing before they switched to gx. a tag force collection would also be sick. i'd love a collection for the 5d's ds games, since i just didn't have the means to play them as a kid, and playing on emulator is impossible to do the turbo duel sections on, even with cheats.

Unlike what that Reddit comment said: Worldwide Edition is actually NOT an upgraded version of Duel Monsters 6. Unlike Eternal Duelist Soul vs Duel Monsters 5 which saw noticable upgraded (though sadly at the cost of duel puzzles), the only changes to Worldwide Edition are a better starter deck, 3? (maybe I forgot someone) AI decks saw a slight difference (Weevil has his Drill Bugs removed for random cards, possessed Joey saw his Cannon Soldier + Scapegoat combo removed as well as Dimensional Warrior in favor for more beatdown, and Bandit Keith had Blast Sphere and Time Machine "replaced" with glitchy disappearing cards, because those cards were removed entirely. So, all downgrades IMO), and limited tournaments reward you with all cards fitting under that limitation you don't own yet when you win it (a massive reward that DM6 doesn't see). Oh, and a slightly different banlist (the reason why for example Yami Marik uses 3x Card Destruction). But most importantly: Worldwide Edition saw a bunch of cards removed from DM6 without replacement. This was in order to fix a password glitch that made some passwords unusable (but removing cards for that??? That's basically the same thing as the password not working, but worse). I mentioned Blast Sphere and Time Machine before, but most notably: DM6 has Des Gardius + Mask of Remnants, 2 cards that would not see the light of day anymore in an official simulator (not counting alternate rules games like Reshef) until halfway in the DS games, so that's a huge disappointment. Umbra and Lumis for some reason don't use them even in DM6 though, so there was no deck change there.

my expectations were: - only game boy games - translated - modded/upgraded/fixed/added missing content so, so far so good, 14 games is far more of what was i expecting so i have little hope for the last point but, who knows. i understand people wanting the playstation games but it was a bit unrealistic for the first compilation tbf.

Honestly, I'd trade every single game in both collections for Forbidden Memories, Duelist of the Roses and Capsule Monster Coliseum in one collection. I wouldn't have an issue with both collections if I knew Konami would bring back the ps1/ps2 titles, hell, even Falsebound Kingdom would be welcome too, but it seems that ps1/ps2 era titles are usually neglected when it comes to ports.

I feel you, but I'm quite curious to try out some of the Gameboy games too. I finished DM1 a while back, and it was surprisingly fun once I got the hang of how fusions and card drops work in that game. PlayStation titles seem to be tricky for some reason, in the Castlevania collections, Symphony of the Night is also missing, for example. Let's just hope we'll get em eventually, they can't possibly miss the opportunity to milk FM and DotR into oblivion.

I get your point, but there are people who like these early GB games and are very nostalgic about them. Also, it‘s nice to get the Japanese only titles finally playable, so I don‘t view this as a „meh“ product, just something different, and I‘m glad it‘s happening!

Capcom did the same thing with Mega Man. We got a fair amount of the collections people wanted, but they sure didn't want to take any financial risks or put in a lot of effort, so they chickened out on giving us the Mega Man Legends games. They also haven't delivered on their soft promise of new Mega Man games, only giving a statement implying they're stuck in the preplanning stage.

I never had hopes for Forbidden Memories or any of the PS2/GameCube titles being included in this collection. I said it from the beginning: it was going to be Gameboy titles only, since they already had the emulator for the Castlevania Advance collection and they wouldn't develop a PS2 emulation just for this. Watch how they'll do a second collection with the NDS titles sometime in the future, just like they did with Castlevania.

First off, I’d like to apologize for the long comment. If Konami is planning to revisit the Tag Force games and truly do them justice, it’s essential that each title includes every character that appeared in the anime of its respective series. For example: Tag Force 1 should feature all characters from Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters Season 1-everyone from Yami Yugi and Seto Kaiba to Kaibaman, Gravekeeper’s Chief, the Admiral, and Beauregard. Tag Force 2 and Arc-V Special should follow the same approach, ensuring comprehensive character rosters. Additionally, several aspects of the games need significant improvements: Duel Points and the Tournament System: These systems require a complete overhaul for better balance and progression. Rank Advancement: By the end of Tag Force 1, players should progress from Slifer Red to Obelisk Blue, and this advancement should continue consistently through Tag Force 2 and Tag Force 3. The biggest mistake Konami could make with a Tag Force reboot would be to release the games as they were without addressing these necessary updates. Here are some specific suggestions: New Characters: Introduce more characters to expand the roster. Updated Duel Points System: Slifer Reds could reward 1-3 medals. Ra Yellows could reward 4-6 medals. Obelisk Blues could reward 7-9 medals. Main characters should reward 10+ medals, with a cap of 15 medals. The total required medals could be set at 120. Progression System: Starting Tag Force 2 as a Ra Yellow after finishing Tag Force 1. Starting Tag Force 3 as an Obelisk Blue after completing Tag Force 2. Finally, to enhance replayability, each game should offer unique storylines for different character pairings, and the card pool should be updated to reflect the era of each respective game.

I think you should look at this from a video game company's perspective rather than the TCG side of Konami. This looks way more like like Castlevania and Contra collections. If I had to guess, I'd say that they would go one of two routes. 1. They remove all Japanese only games for the English regions, with maybe them translating just the ones with online play, or they might translate particularly short and basic games like the GB is known for. 2. They will translate them all and will have a second collection console games, and a third collection for the DS games (Very similar to how they broke up Castlevania due to the dual screen functionality, coincidentally Capcom did the same thing for their DS remasters) if the first collection does well enough. Luckily the bar is low for these kind of releases. Konami isn't exactly known for quality control with their game divisions outside of MSG (even then it's still kinda shaky).. That said, their collections have been some of their best releases lately, huge bang for buck value even with minor issues.

There are already some nice fan translations for some of the games, like DM1 got a nice english translation fairly recently. It wouldn't take long to just patch the Steam release with it, I assume, especially if it really is just a gameboy emulator running.

Capsule monster coliseum was my favorite video game period when i was a kid. The only downside for me was how that the ai's capsule monsters didnt appear in higher levels as you progressed, But it was enough of a challenge for kid me .

1:03 Because it is not a GB/GBC/GBA game. It is a playstation game. If the leaks are correct, then it is excluded for the same reason Forbidden Memories is. Anyways, I am just waiting for the official news to arrive. I am genuinely kinda tense because this can either go really well or super poorly(We all know Yu-gi-oh official localizations). And well, it still saying Eternal Duelist Soul instead of DM5, which depending on where this goes, invalidates the currently unfinished work I did in translating it into german.

It's not exactly a "Nintendo" thing, it's because this is a "retro" pack, all the games here are able to me translated, upscaled, and play tested by a small team, it's a budget project. PlayStation, and later, DS games are way more complex or laborous to modify. If it's anything like other Konami collections, they will ground up the games into 2-3(4?) different collections if this one sells well enough.

I will not be purchasing this trash. Nor do I subscribe to the idea of being held hostage in hopes they'll release a collection worth buying in the future, either do it right the first time or don't bother at all Konami. The WC games or Tag Force I can understand wholeheartedly, but this cannot be sold as an "early days" collection when it's missing several games that released during this time.

Asia english version is also about $30, $15+ cheaper than US, similar to suikoden. The fact not all translated for yugioh makes the US version even more useless imo. 2:10 that is sad but a lotta businesses are too big to fail 😢

They even had neo geo pocket color vol 2 for $16, which $85 total for the 3 game collections is a steal. Just a pain to have to wait for everything to be ready in March but hopefully time will fly. Maybe they will update (or PC fan translates) but one of the screenshots of the US early days was in Japanese.

I get your point, but Forbidden Memories can be quite fun if you take the game as what it is; a very grindy duel simulator with a different ruleset; and try to create additional fun/challenge with self-imposed restrictions (like Jon_Oh‘s legendary one-type-runs) or by playing one of many, many mods that exist for the game to spice things up. The same goes for many of the other early YGO games: The first time I played DM1, I had little fun if any, but once I planned out a deck I wanted to play and got familiar with how fusions work in that game, I had a lot of fun beating it!

@@Din-Oh I mean I like it lol wouldn't have mind it being in this collection, even if I am not sure if I could ever bring up the time and patience to completely play through it without any mods to speed up the process. But some people (here and elsewhere) make it sound like it's that one highlight game which would have upgraded the whole collection by a huge margin. However, like most other people I hope this will be successful and we'll be getting more games. I am personally very eager for Duelist of the Roses, as I never got the chance to play that one.

Honestly I hate Forbidden Memories. It's way too difficult and te grind is abysmal. Amd the less said about the goddam star Chip ststem the better. Personally, I would love Nightmare Trabadour from the DS to get a re relase since that's my personal favorite Yu-Gi-Oh game.
