Gentlemen it certainly sucks getting old, im about 67 years old, and my body aches, and nothing works anymore, but damned if i didn't listen to and witness the best music ever in the 60s, 70s and 80s. We were blessed with about a million of the best musical artists ever to grace this planet, we listened every day when these songs were brand new, so this old boy can't get no satisfaction listening to the lackluster, computer contrived bullshit that pains my ears these days. Oh man, does that bring back great memories! This song was played at our 9th grade year-end party. A girl who I had had a crush on all year but was too shy to say anything asked me to dance. We ended up dancing to several songs and had a great night. One of those youthful moments you never forget! I moved away that summer, and that dance was the last time I ever saw the girl. Even now, almost 50 years later, I think of that night whenever I hear this song. A+ indeed!

I went to school with the bass player, Paul Goddard, from the 6th grade through high school. He was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He showed me the guitar cords to a simple song that I wanted to play. I asked him if he could just play anything and he said he could play anything he could whistle.

Band was in our town for 2 days and they stopped in to my restaurant for a meal. They were so nice and returned after the show for another meal. We were just a chain restaurant but they said they didn't take chances on the road because they didn't want to get food poisoning so they stuck with places they could count on. They treated my staff very well and good tips even from the support\advance crew. We stayed open late just for them.

I’m 54 now and grew up in the 70’s with very cool, music and dancing loving parents. Music played in our house every day. This song brings back tons of great memories for me of my dad (passed away in 2018) teaching me how to dance to this song. I’ve always loved it. Atlanta Rhythm Section has had two singers alternating over the years. One would leave to pursue other interests and the other would step in. Both had great voices. The singer here and throughout the 70’s was Ronnie Hammond. I liked his voice best. Sadly he died of a heart attack in his drs office in 2011 aged just 60. The bass player Paul Goddard died in 2014. The loss of these two was the end of what was a truly magical sound. I believe the remaining living members still tour with new members but they don’t peg the sound like Ronnie did here in this song. I love music so much and it kills me that so many of the greats are getting really old and passing away. Music today can’t hold a candle to true musicians with amazing talent like these guys had! Thanks for reacting to it. I knew you’d love it. It’s simple but powerful!

This song is headphone candy, and sometimes I catch new intricate surprises, even after decades of listening to it. The tune was released when I was five years old, and I remember hearing it for the first time sitting in the back seat of a '75 Pontiac, unbuckled and unable to see above the inner door panels or to the windows. So, my first memory of this song was the interior of a car. We Gen-X'ers turned out just fine.

JR Cobb was a member of the Classics IV, before being a founding member of ARS. During 1967 thr Classics IV had a top 3 hit with the song “Spooky”. ARS released a cover of “Spooky” in 1979.

Back in 1977 or 78...Christmas after this album debuted. My older sister and her husband bought this album for me. I was around 14 or 15 and all they really knew about me was that unlike most girls, I wasn't into disco...lol. I had heard the song a few times on the radio, but I don't think I ever had heard it all the way through. I was really impressed with the music. It wasn't quite like the rock music I was more interested in, but it still enjoyed the album., I liked the smooth melody and the vocals. I still have the album.

Saw a lot of great bands in the late 70s. One of the best concerts I saw was ARS with the opening act being, Wet Willie. WW set the place on fire. I figured ARS was gonna have a hard time following those guys, but I was wrong. They blew the place up. Those guys could jam. Especially the two guitar players. Some of the most tasteful guitar playing I've ever heard.

You have to understand that some of these guys were from the Classics IV and The Candymen. The song writer and producer Buddy Buie wrote Spooky, Stormy, and Traces. This was a great outfit.

Thanks for reacting. Engineer Producer Rodney Mills is a master. He did so much for the sound of ARS. Barry Bailey and JR Cobb complimented each other so well on guitars. The whole band were pros which started out in early days as Roy Orbinson's band. Champagne Jam.

I grew up in Doraville and lived very near the studio where ARS recorded. Was always so proud to be from the same town and loved the song "Doraville." Fun fact, in the 80s, I had the opportunity to work with Paul Goddard in a Stereo Village store. Good times!
