So true Simon. Sure, we listen to Classic Rock on the radio but now we have the pleasure of seeing folks react to our music the same way we did. A good song will always be a good song. Hearing it today for the first time or 50 years ago for the first time doesn't matter. We loved those songs for a reason. Talented musicians and singers made these tunes and to not pass them down to younger generations would be quite a loss. The way I see it, maybe somebody will be inspired by these tunes.

I love this song. The Canadian singer Anne Murray did a cover of this song about a year after this originally came out (1971-72ish) that actually made the charts in the US and was a frequent play on AM "Top 40" radio (KJR Seattle Channel 95, LOL🤣🤣☮️). That rendition makes a few relatively minor changes and dropped one of the verses, but is still worth a listen. Especially since you've just heard the original. I think you'd like "Your Mama Don't Dance" by Loggins & Messina. You'll likely laugh at the premise since you're raising your kids like we did ours, with Rock & Roll as an integral part of everyday life. Thak you so much for many smiles you have brougght to my face over this past year so since I've been subscribing to your channels. Kenny Loggins wrote "House on Pooh Corner" when he was a 17 year old student & later recorded it with Messina in the early 1970's. Then in the 1990's, as a father, he added a final verse to the song, now called "Return to Pooh Corner" and rerecorded the new version with Amy Grant (she is mainly a gospel artist whose husband is Vince Gill) as a duet. Yes, when Kenny did those "rocking" songs in the 1980s, we kind of thought he was faking it, since he'd been so successful in the softer mode when playing with Jim. (This was probably unfair, since there's no reason he can't be versatile. But it's not only the current "playlist" generation that tends to shove artists into a particular slot.)

Ive been dealing with a horrible divorce (involving a child) for 12 years. It involved a gun today...long story...but at the very beginning of the crapshow about 11-12 years ago, I was left homeless after a very bad divorce. I was reduced to living illegally in somebody's attic and working in "fast food" for a little while. The restaurant piped in classic rock and the walls were COVERED in class rock memorabilia. It was a great atmosphere. One day, I was deep in my thoughts and missing my child at work and this song came on. I had been keeping a brave face through those hard times, but the lyrics of the song were too much in that moment...and I started crying. Not sobbing, but tears rolling down my face uncontrollably. I continued to take orders while customers looked at me like I was losing my mind. It wasnt "my darkest day", but definitely a bad time I think of often. Jim Messina took a young Loggins under his wing to help him develop his art. They became quite popular. They were the number one duo in pop music until they were dethroned by Hall and Oates. Their style was pretty folksy. Two of their biggest hits was "Your Mamma Don't Dance" and "House on Pooh Corner." Pick one of those for your next from this duo.

I always loved this one. We kids would all sing along and I'd think about how that's the way I would want things to be in life. Another one like that is Seals and Croft "Summer Breeze". Kenny Loggins also has a great duet with Stevie Nicks "Whenever I Call You Friend" which was a big hit. Of course life always seems complicated when you're living it, but what I would not trade for the simple times I lived back then.

Would be great to hear some Seals and Crofts in honor of Jim Seals who just passed away last week.

One of my long-loved Loggins and Messina songs is "Watching the River Run". It's about life and friendship/companionship. Highly recommend it. There is a Kenny Loggins and Stevie Nicks duet called "Whenever I Call You "Friend"" that you should be aware of.

Amber is buried in this song…all her emotions were written on her face. Such a great song but your reaction made it even better.

Loggins and Messina had more of a folk rock/soft rock kind of sound than Loggins' solo work. Honestly, I like that earlier style better.

Don’t compare eras, talent is intergenerational. This era also had Nicolette Larsen, Air Supply, England Dan, Anne Murray and a lot of other unexceptional and forgettable talent. Ever listened to Billie Eilish?

Another beautiful Loggins & Messina song, that would be wonderful to react to (maybe even with Luca joining in) is 'House At Pooh Corner'. It's all about the world of Winnie the Pooh, and if you're not familiar with that series of books, I'd highly recommend them for their gentle lessons on what it means to be a loving, kind and caring friend, through characters who are very different in personality and attitude but who all value individual acts of loving kindness and also community.

You know what even more beautiful than this song? The look that Jay gives Amber at the 2:00 point.

Logging and Massina did a song called the "House At Pooh Corner" and in 1994 Kenny Loggins released an album entitled "The Return To Pooh Corner" the song involves the characters of Winnie The Pooh, but the meaning is about growing up and losing your child like innocents. There are many great songs on the album such as "All The Pretty Little Ponies", which includes David Crosby and an excellent version of "Rainbow Connection" by Kenny Loggins.

Love the softer side of Kenny Loggins! Thank you for the wonderful reactions! I’d love to suggest “House at Pooh Corner” if you haven’t heard it. Loggins wrote it as a senior in high school and I’ve always sung it to my babies at bedtime. I think you’d really enjoy it. 🙂. Congrats on all the success!

House at Pooh Corner is another sweet song which Kenny wrote when he was 17. He tells a great story in concert about how that song was okayed to be recorded. Forever and Celebrate Me Home are beautiful ballads. In concert he does a fab call and response with the saxophone on Celebrate me home. I’m excited to be seeing Loggins solo x2 in June and Loggins & Messina at the Hollywood Bowl in July!

Loggins and Messina was a favorite group of mine in my 20s. Messina brought more instrumentation to the group, while Loggins brought lyrics, catchy songs and that voice. They fit together well. If you want to hear more Messina in the mix, try their song, Angry Eyes.

As someone has already pointed out, Loggins and Messina had a couple of hits ("Your Mama Don't Dance", "My Music"), but their albums were full of gems, some hits for other artists. As someone has mentioned, Anne Murray had big hits with "Danny's Song" and "A Love Song". And one of the first hits by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was "House at Pooh Corner". All beautiful songs. My favorite is "Watching the River Run". Now do yourself a big favor and next time you lay down for a rest, put on Loggins and Messina's greatest hits album!
