That’s so sad about roo was she completely refusing to feed them or did wag more over react and pull her out to quickly?? If she abandoned them then I get it but if she still fed them and slept with them then some times momma dogs have to let them know not to just eat all day long but when she allows it soo sad poor roo and pups!! It might have been to painful for her to feed them after she got the infection and maybe she knew her milk wasn’t good for them or something it breaks my heart I hope she finds a forever home!!!

She didn’t abandon them, she stopped nursing them because it was time. Even when puppies don’t need milk anymore, they still need their mom to teach them and the mom still fusses over them but slowly removes herself more and more, this is natural and not neglect or abandonment. That is why in a lot of countries it is illegal to separate puppies from their mother before an age of 8 weeks, even though they wean around week 5/6. We don’t know why Wagmor rehomed Roo to another foster home too early. I certainly would like to know but we probably never will. It really sheds a bad light on them and I wish Joey would know that this is not how it is done and might look for a more professional shelter to team up with. Maybe I am doing them injustice though and the puppies are already 8 weeks old but I doubt it. Edit: I just now saw the end of the video where Joey says that she was aggressive towards them and that is why Wagmor put her in another foster. I am not saying that this isn’t true or never happens but I still kinda believe that her behavior was misjudged where she actually was preparing them to be independent and that means showing them boundaries. I personally would’ve never removed her, especially since this is illegal or at least ill-advised before week 8

Joey confirmed what I had assumed was true. She was being aggressive towards the puppies and it was dangerous for her to be in the same home with them. She’s just at a new foster home now. Some dogs just aren’t as good mother as others. It’s sad but it’s nature. The pups will be fine and Roo looks happy at her new foster home. :)

@@MrsMrMoney it’s beyond rare that a mother dog would need to be separated from her puppies that young for behavioral issues. And Wagmor is pretty sketchy in the first place. I’ve worked with rescues and I’ll tell you flat out they wouldn’t have just heard “she’s being mean to the puppies” and leapt to separate. They would have done absolutely everything to try to keep mom and pups together.

As someone who has fostered in the past I can vouch for that fact. Especially with strays like Roo. Either way the puppies are thriving now! I’m glad the situation is working out. The pups will be fine.

Joey I can't stress enough how dangerous those velcro collars can be! They can easily eat/swallow them at this age which can cause intestinal blockages (I've seen it happen too many times with large breed puppies and the owners not realizing to it's too late) I would suggest looking into breakaway puppy collars, they are amazing and much more safe for the puppies since they aren't so easy to swallow and won't tighten up, plus! they fit for the whole 8+ weeks you're raising them for which is great!

It’s because they’re double coated that they shed that way. My rescued Shepherd dog is the same, but unfortunately he’s too scared of cars and people to get his undercoat raked. The comb you are using is great for the top coat, but a shedding blade or undercoat rake will remove the undercoat Wolf is currently shedding. I can fill a paper box in one sitting with mine, and about six boxes in total during his shedding season! I’m considering taking up spinning or felting to make use of the shedded fur; currently it hangs in a yarn bag for the birds to use for lining their nests...

Makes no sense to take away the Mum that early,...the mum is essential in teaching the puppies doggie manners. It is normal that Mum dogs are “aggressive “ when weening them off. They still teach them. That was not very responsible considering she is sitting at a foster now anyways.

Well, we don't know exactly how aggressive she was being with the pups and it is possible that she was behaving atypically. Also, there is a misconception that all mama dogs do their jobs well. They are not all wired to be exceptional mamas, with some being rather inattentive and neglectful towards their pups. I'm not saying that this was the case with Roo....just that we shouldn't make assumptions regarding the decision to remove her from the pups.

So she may have been growling at them for the puppy food...plus Sadly joey has no say in it as he doesn't own these dogs so even if he questioned it, it's not like he could do anything. I find most shelters or rescues sell and neuter and spay puppies at 5-6 weeks of age. Not that it's right or anything
