The subtly of the butterfly flying across the screen taking the same amount of time and the opposite way from the bird that follows the slash that ends the fight is one of my favorite design touches the animators have thrown in in the whole series. They sure do love throwing in junk to fill time but sometimes they do it with some serious class.

I swear, Zoro always gets hurt so bad in his fights. The others too, but it's especially noticeable with Zoro since he tends to fight swordsmen and get stabbed and cut rather than punched or kicked. For Crocodile's hand, I think it's a reference to Peter Pan. He's designed after Captain Hook, and named after the animal who ate Hook's hand. But you're right, he probably lost it a while ago. Oda likes to include some easter eggs about other pirates, real or fictional. Another one is Gold Roger, inspired from Olivier Levasseur who left an encrypted message supposed to lead to enormous riches, and started a huge treasure hunt.

I guess those attacks aren't too painful for Zorro. Because Mihawk's attacks had caused deeper wounds to Zoro. That's why the wounds inflicted by Mihawk are more painful for Zoro. After that, Zoro trained his body more, which is why these attacks are more like training for Zoro. not much painful.

Don't worry about sadness affecting reactions, OP is capable of bringing them out no matter what. You hate how Crocodile laughs? Just wait... Good that the battle against Crocodile cheered you up, if at least temporarily. It's always satisfying when enemies start getting what's coming to them.
