Just remember. This thing was made by the Final Fantasy team, the ones that wrote FFVII/VIII. This game goes hard on the what tf/why tf factor in later chapters. Also, there's some kind of meta if you want to lose less parts/races, just look for a Silvia engine then change it for a R32/R33 engine whenever you can, slap a lightweight 4WD chassis and a lighter body of your choice (the starting one is actually really good till the end) and you are good to go. But i prefer to experiment and just level up stuff bc why not.

I played this game a few days before thay announced the transalation proyect, and I dont know, the drifting just clicked on me after some races. Theres objectively a "meta" and thats with the r32 r33 engines as they are the best in the game. One thing that i never understood in how the drag with tetsu works meaning that these cars have way more power that the game says, I just use low weight 4wd chasis with the 86 for those kind of races (chinatown too). Theres some special and rare special editions cars like the skyline 280, the monster -R etc, and events that i have only triggered once even tho i play the game a few times per year. Its truly a good game. and not even mention the banger that is the intro movie song.

Alfa Romeo Racing Italiano with rewind system first here (Grid having 0-5, Forza Motorsport 3 having the modern dumbed down rewind we still see), can increase with points to 1.1, 1.2, etc goodbye the original rewind system. Of course racing Lagoon and ChoroQ for NPCs interactions and stats or whatever the case. Upgrades and tuning in many ways. Pink slips to have a lose condition in a game like a broken item but instead of a car repair irs fhe whole car, besides trading but events to win upgrades like Juiced. I know oink slips existed in Midnight Club I think. I haven't played rhe series enough to know. I own LA Complete Edition I'll get to it. Handling and other skill points for aspects of a car in a one make advertising game. You don't get that in Ford Racing. There is upgrades in Ford Racing 1 besides jumping cars but not the focus on later entries. Can't say for Lotus (not looked into it enough), Viper or others. Sega GT Car builder parts/chassis, sponsors and more, Pure for ATV customisation of parts/cosmetics (not as flexible as NFS, Forza or others livery editors just presets). The WRC 2 for PS3/360/PC management system. You hire staff and they have points that scale. Mechanic or PR people. With 3 bars of stats. MotoGP 9/10 does similar. Repairs being a things in racing games maybe. Communication/interviews in F1 games and race teams to select, each one feeling different and noticeable like GT games did and other games have since with a car's quirks. Managing a team and NPC interactions. Your team mates leaving you. F1 games are a great example if people haven't watch Raycevick's F1 09-21 video. Anything with tuning I'd say counts. But others expand in various directions. I mean Forza Motorsport 1&2 region system don't really go anywhere but Rode 4's is restrictive. I assume may build up to things but no idea as it's really hard to play normal or very easy presets for AI. Same with MotoGP games around it. Ma y older are more accessible. So you have tuning or actually talking to NPCs like ChoroQ and TXR games whether Drift sub series or main series on the highways. Or point systems like Alfa Romeo Racing Italiano let alone other particular systems of customisation parts or cosmetics.

Bruh, why. It's more text than it is racing, the racing is meh, and the characters look *AWFUL*
@detipacier6 ай бұрын
@@eins2001 Okay, I hear you, and I get where you're coming from. But I assure that when taking your time in the different overworlds to collect stuff and complete extra races, it really makes a world of difference pacing wise. Besides, even if the lack of voice acting does kinda suck, especially for 1999, the characters depicted through these text bubbles are very entertaining and interesting in my opinion. Granted, the story itself really isn't great, the whole plot about your character not actually being himself, and the voice being the real him, while neat-ish, makes zero fucking sense that I do concede. I think the racing is actually okay but I will concede that the beginning of the game is the roughest patch and I did almost give up. The cars are very slow, the collisions are so trash they must be calculated with random values, it all feels like a chore. But once your car gets past the 300hp mark, things actually start getting much better. Collisions seem to have been optimised for higher speeds of impact, so they actually start getting better. The racing gets far more engaging as tracks get a bit more technical and interesting while the car becomes a lot more fun to drive. At some point it alomst starts to feel like a slightly more realistic take on Ridge Racer Type 4. Also, this ties into the main aspect I love about this game, that being the customization and player agency. It is CRAZY how many parts and combinations you can make and have those be competitive. No two player will have the same build and I am very confident when saying that. My personal build by then end of the game was a black and white, quadruple turbocharged, rotary powered, lotus europa with a group C bodykit. It weighed 650kg and made over 800hp. How many other games would let you make something that insane? And that's barely scratching the surface! You can make a 4x4 Skyline powered group C bus with yellow rims, you can make an MR Daihatsu Storia with a Diablo kit or even just a serious tune without any extravagances. It's that player agency that I love and the attention to detail. When you chang a car's drivetrain, the body of the car will change to reflect the new engine placement, even Forza doesn't do that! And talking about agency, I love how there is no difficulty select at all, the player simply starts with a navigation system to indicate the direction of upcoming bends. The player can find a better one very early in the game if it's not enough or they can discard the one they already have for extra performance. I do agree that the character designs aren't great at all though, especially for the guys. But I think it adds to the charm and they can sometimes be so bad it's good. And in my opinion, the game makes up for it, not just because the in-game graphics are actually pretty damn good, but also with its soundtrack which I absolutely love. It's not the greatest ever, for sure, but I think it is still pretty damn good. That ending theme especially being one I listen to quasi on the daily. And just the amount of stuff to do in this game is insane, with 6 whole different areas, 4 of which are quite expensive and detailed open maps with a lot of side activities in each, which is why my main gripe with this game is that it does not have a post game, and that sucks so much, genuinely a big fault of the game for sure. Overall, I will never claim this game to be the greatest at anything apart from maybe customization and even that I wouldn't feel right claiming. It's definitely in the 7/10 range from an objective standpoint, but I just love this game personally despite all its flaws because there's a lot of good to be found if you're willing to dig. And I also find it insane that this game was released in 1999, in a world where the only other game with that level of customization was Sega GT, and that game genuinely just sucks. I think that even if to the modern eye, this game is really nothing but a few good ideas tied in a bunch of eh, the innovation it brings and how good it was for the time to me make it worth remembering. So once again, despite everything, I do not fear to claim this game as one of my favorite of all time. But I do hear ya lmao
