Before the live action announcement, I had expected them to take inspiration from The LEGO Movie (which replicated stop motion) by trying to sort of recreate the Minecraft *Machinima* style. It would still be 3D animated and with more polish, but it would still try to look more like gameplay footage.

My biggest issue w/ the piglins being the antagonists is that, in the game, they're just kinda dudes walking around and living their lives. They aren't villains.

This seems to take place briefly after Minecraft: Legends, a game set in the past in which the Piglins are all led by The Great Hog, who's corrupted and influenced by another called The Seer (whos name is apparently now confirmed as Malgosha) using the Orb of Dominance, an artifact that essentially serves as an imprisoned and weakened form of the ancient evil god known as the Heart of Ender, who is destroyed far in the future in Minecraft: Dungeons

My guess for the "I AM STEVE" scene is that Steve has been alone for many years and when he finaly comes across people and maybe saves them from some sort of danger (likely caused by Steve), that he comes out with this big show trying to be the awesomest guy there is because when he was alone, no one was more awesome than he. The plot seems to be a continuation of the story from Minecraft Legends (a spin off that didn't last more than a year). In the scene where you see Steve confront the piglins you can see in the center The Seer the main, but unseen boss of Legends. The tesseract looking thing is likely The Orb Of Dominance, the actual antagonist of both Minecraft Legends and Minecraft Dungeons sought out by the most powerful it is a tool of destruction and domination...... Either that or I have heard the theory that it is some kind of thing that allowed the 4 peoples to come through from Earth into Minecraft through the blue nether portal, which would also present it as an object sought after by the piglins or any antagonists. anyway I just realized that this comment is already super long so I will stop talking now.... I first thought the movie was going to be absolutely terrible but then I re-watched it over and over again and got a feel for the plot and caught the Captainsparklez references and now I think it would be really cool if done right.

@@layncemc Eh, I guess, but the movie might not be good for other people watching. Eg: me, I love playing Minecraft, but don't know anything about the spin-off. For people getting formally introduced to Minecraft (not many but some exist) this movie will show to everyone why Minecraft is fun, and why they should play it. If the movie's too complicated, not fun enough, or does not appeal to Minecraft players, then it's gonna do poorly. That and some other things I don't know off the top of my head. Sorry if the way I typed was a bit confusing.😅

First off, how do you take a game with an infinite sandbox world and then cram it into the most formulaic, cookie-cutter story imaginable? Minecraft is all about creating your own adventure, exploring new worlds, and building epic stuff. So naturally, the Minecraft movie thought, “Hey, let’s make it about a random, chosen hero who has to save the world from some generic evil force with, wait for it... the power of friendship!” Yeah, because that hasn’t been done in a billion other animated movies already. Like, I’m surprised they didn’t throw in a wisecracking animal sidekick to complete the cliché checklist. It’s almost like the people behind the movie didn’t even bother looking at what makes Minecraft special. Where’s the sense of exploration? Where’s the thrill of discovery? Instead, we get some convoluted plot about Ender Dragons and villagers that feels like a rejected storyline from a Kung Fu Panda knock-off. The world of Minecraft is supposed to be vast, strange, and sometimes terrifying. Yet, in the movie, it just feels like background noise for a mediocre adventure story that could've been swapped with literally any other animated film setting. And the characters... my goodness, the characters. The magic of Minecraft is that you are the character. It’s your story. You can be anyone, build anything, and go anywhere. The movie, on the other hand, decided, “Nope, you’re gonna follow this one bland, cardboard-cutout protagonist because we said so.” Instead of allowing us to experience the freedom that the game gives us, we’re stuck with a bunch of generic archetypes who deliver lines that sound like they were copy-pasted from a Saturday morning cartoon that got canceled after one season. The animation itself? Don’t even get me started. They somehow managed to take the blocky, charming aesthetic of Minecraft and make it look awkward. How is that even possible? We’re talking about a game with pixels for crying out loud! Yet somehow, the movie’s animation feels like it’s struggling to embrace the game’s simplicity, instead opting for weird, overly polished visuals that don’t capture the charm of the blocky universe. Instead of using the minimalist design to their advantage, they tried to make everything shiny and slick, and it just ends up looking off-putting. And let’s not forget the pacing. It’s like the movie took the idea of grinding in Minecraft and decided to make that the structure of the entire film. You’re sitting there waiting for something interesting to happen, but instead, it’s just more wandering around, more boring dialogue, and more filler scenes that feel like they were shoved in to stretch the runtime. They tried to make it feel like an epic journey, but instead, it’s more like watching someone play Minecraft on peaceful mode with no objectives for two hours straight. No stakes, no tension, just... nothing. Ultimately, the Minecraft movie completely misses the point of what makes the game so great. It’s as if they were too scared to do something truly creative or bold, instead opting for the safest, most uninspired route possible. They had the opportunity to create a groundbreaking film that embraced the creativity, freedom, and imagination that Minecraft is known for. Instead, we got a soulless, by-the-numbers cash grab that feels more like a slap in the face to fans of the game than a tribute. This should’ve been a celebration of what’s possible in a world made of blocks, but instead, it feels like they built it out of clichés, corporate notes, and the crumbling remains of every bad video game movie that came before it.

Its obvious its gonna be the type of movie they go "oh my god" and "oh my god" again, and they go from a unnusual situation to go on a crazy adventure and gotta be quick. Like, how he said.. jumanji, I hate it.. never liked this stuff. There is another movie with the rock in this style, and it's like a drug.. it rushes to be commercial. Just because we are younger they think we prioritize nonsense over calm, atmospheric, u know.. the epicness of transcendental sublime.

For me the biggest issue is the conflicting style Like The tree leaves aren't even really blocks I don't know what's going on with the world generation, must be a really rare and bizarre seed There are blocks that dont exist in the game And my god the mobs look weird The only things that looks somewhat "good" are the Ghasts But anyway I think that when they entered Minecraft it should have been entirely animated Just being live action outside Minecraft There's oficial books that do basically that

in Minecraft: Legends, they have to use machinery created with the help of the Orb of Dominance to spread the Nether's spores into the overworld's atmosphere. This seems to take place after Legends given the appearance of its main but unfightable antagonist, The Seer

This looks very much like a Jumanji situation. Only due to the popularity of Minecraft, it won't work as well. These characters will be amazed by the world's mechanics (e.g floating trees, crafting, blocky everything) But we as the viewer/Minecraft fan's already know these things. So it'll be a very cringy movie. I hope the movie handles these things similar to how "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" did it. Where there was only 1 throwaway line from Mario: "Oké, so these brick's are just floating here?" And that was it... no more questions asked, moving on. I really hope the Minecraft movie takes the same angle, but I doubt it. Which is disappointing. I was really looking forward to a good Minecraft movie, and this isn't it.

I understand people being indifferent about this but this feels, to me at least, like a massive spit in the face to the identity they’ve been cultivating in recent years, the animated Minecraft update trailers are the perfect example that they know how to make something that represents how the game should feel, but they continue to not listen and make something no one asked for, I bet they didn’t work with a single person who’s played for years, put hundreds of hours into worlds, played with modpacks and shaders, made any type of art relating to it, no one who has invested any substantial amount of time or energy into Minecraft at all, if they did, it would not look like this
