Imagine his friend never video recorded him at school playing the cello ..Prob wouldn’t be the Pentatonix as we know today ..What’s your thoughts?

So true. Much of life is the work we do like Kevin practicing the cello. Other things are purely things in life that are by chance, serendipity us older folks say, like the friend videotaping Kevin and the others seeing him. And PTX was formed as it was meant to be. Life is a cloth woven from work and if we are lucky, some serendipity As well.

The world would never know Kevin as the immense talent that he is, or Pentatonix. He's such a part of the whole that makes them the versatile and great group we all know. Likely he would have followed his other dream of becoming a doctor and doing missionary work in China and such places. I'm so glad he followed the path to PTX.

Kevin is a gift. His dad is a Doctor from Nigeria and his mom is a medical prof from Grenada. Kevin was born with Perfect pitch He lived and studied for a year in China and speaks fluent Mandarin. When I was reading this, I read, "He plays a wild sax," as, you guessed it, "he plays a wild sex." I was wondering what the hell that was. I went crazy trying to figure it out until I finally read it the correct way. Oh, geeze.

Yes. Have you seen Kevin on the podcast with a.... basketball player maybe? Can't remember his name but I remember he's also nigerian american as Kevin. Kevin and he clicked really well and they talked about how the band really support each other and hype each other up. If you've not seen it and can find what I mean (it's fairly recent, within a year), it's a great listen

Or maybe Kevin is helping Matt further develop his talents. Remember, Kevin is the oldest member of Pentatonix, and Matt is the youngest. And Matt and Kevin together make up the rhythm section. They work together so closely that people see Matt singing the bass notes that make Kevin's percussion sound so full and think Matt must be another beatboxer, because their movements are so much in time with each other. And Matt's bass is a good deal more subtle than Avi's. Frequently people never even realize they're hearing a bass. The same people who think Matt must be another beatboxer think that Kevin's percussion is being enhanced electronically to make it sound so full, when the truth is Matt is the enhancement. I don't know how aware Kevin is of some of the comments made by reactors and KZbin pentaholics, but it must grate on him to see the way Matt is sometimes dissed. Maybe he wanted Matt's help on this as a way to show off Matt's talents to everyone, and to help Matt grow as a performer. Or, more likely, maybe it cuts both ways. Pentatonix acts like a family. A loving, FUNCTIONAL family. Anything that benefits one family member benefits the family as a whole. Matt is obviously having fun being part of Kevin's big number, and his involvement keeps Kevin from having to start the "Kevin, Kevin, Kevin" chant himself. It works for everybody.

I think what I love about them getting into Singoff is I think Kevin arrived less than 24 hours prior to the audition, and they'd only picked Avi up a couple weeks before. And they STILL got on the show out of god knows how many auditions, and then WON.

If you were writing a novel about this amazing a cappella band that takes the world by storm, your editor MIGHT let you get away with a contratenor who has a range of just over 6 octaves, and a bass whose low notes blow out speakers in live performances. But he or she would draw the line at Kevin. The man is a polymath. Polymaths are the people geniuses look at and say "Gee, I wish *_I_* was that smart!" He has a pre-med degree from Yale and had already been accepted to Yale Medical School. He'd performed at Carnegie Hall twice as a teenager. His life could have gone in so many directions, and he chose to become a professional beatboxer. More; when they lost that recording contract they'd "won" on _The Sing-Off,_ he DIDN'T say "That's it. I'm out of here. I can still become a surgeon." He stuck with them, because that's who he is. And I can't believe any editor would let you create a character that improbable in a novel. Because truth is stranger than fiction.

Scott IS funny....yes. His dad is a doctor and mom is a nurse. They were originally against the idea but look at him now. You pronounce it O'LOOSH-uh-luh. He learned cello boxing when he was in a special college program as an undergrad when he studied in China for 6 months. He speaks Mandarin. His favorite music is classical music....being classically trained in cello. He takes his electric cello on tour. His regular cello is named Beyonce and it was challenging to take it on tour because it is more fragile than his electric cello. He shreds a mean cello.

Our son won a football state championship last fall and had only played tackle football for two years, he played baseball growing up and just had his last hs game of season, he played soccer, ran cross country, did pole vault, tennis, Boy Scouts, server at church, etc. having had all those experiences he found football and baseball are where his heart lies now that he’s in high school.

Kevin might be an advanced human from the future sent back to show us our potential. Or Kevin could be the DaVinci of our time. Kevin is such a true genius and a musical genius. He has so many talents in him I can't believe he hasn't self-combusted. Can play multiple instruments, sing, beatbox, write, compose, speaks multiple languages, perfect pitch, as if that wasn't enough, he was pre-med at Yale. He is also a humble and wonderful human. Maybe when he is done making music, he can become of Nobel Laureate after curing cancer and brokering world peace. He has a regular cello named Beyonce and the electric cello is named Mr. Carter
