Slash, Duff (bass), Matt (drums) are from GnR. Slash was in a group called Slash's Snakepit soon after he exited GnR in 1996. That group had some cool songs, as well. This song was about (lead singer) Scott Weiland's battle with addiction.

I remember seeing Slash and Duff on the Carson Daly show one night in 2003 with the guys from Cypress Hill and Scott Thompson from Kids In The Hall. It was one of the coolest interviews I've ever seen, especially the Scott interview. It was meant, I guess, as a preview that a supergroup featuring Slash, Duff, and some "to-be-announced" guest musicians was on the horizon. There was a jam with all the guys and I don't think I've ever heard Slash sound as good as he did that night.

Slash was in a band he put together called Slash's Snakepit while still in GNR with Matt Sorum (drums) Gilby Clarke (rhythm guitar) Mike Inez (bass) and Eric Dover (vocals). Made a couple of albums called It's Five O' Clock Somewhere and Ain't Life Grand. He made the first album while still in GNR as GNR had nothing in the pipeline after the Use Your Illusion. world tour which caused friction with Axl as he wanted to start work on new GNR material but Slash said he was touring to promote his album first. Then the problems really started to say the least. A good song from that first album is Beggars and Hangers On in which Duff from GNR played bass.

Only one who wasn’t previously from GNR when they recorded this song was Scott Weiland from STP, and Dave Kushner. Axl had a bunch of rough years. Velvet Revolver didn't implode as Slash had enough of Scott turning up late or not even turning up to the studio of which Slash had to deal with previously with Axl Rose and wasn't going to go through it all again so the band made the decision to fire Scott. They tried to help Scott, especially Duff who turned to martial arts to get himself clean but with Scott being who he was as a junkie who couldn't kick the habit only had himself to blame for being fired and ultimately losing his life.
