From South Carolina, The Marshall Tucker Band is a blend of blues, country and jazz. From the beginning of the flute at the start you know it's going to to be great. They helped establish the southern rock genre in the 70's. Such a blending of different music styles. Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZTop would be other HUGE Southern Rock bands. Any songs of these three bands you will not be disappointed in.

Marshal Tucker Band wildly popular back in the day, and obviously the music is TIMELESS. Your reactions, adds to the fun of hearing these favorite songs from back in our day! All "Boomers" agree....we had the best music. I have to say, there was alot of experimentation musically, going on back then...thank goodness!! Some awesome stuff. "Cattle Drive" is one of my very favorite Marshal Tucker songs.

MTB is one of the best ever! Don’t miss the Allman Brothers! The Allman Brothers Band lines up heavily on the Blues side of Southern Rock. Duane Allman was one of the two lead guitarists with Dickey Betts. If you’re familiar with Layla by Eric Clapton, Duane created the guitar riff at the beginning of it and played on the track. Clapton wanted Duane to play in his band but he instead wanted to pursue an independent band with brother Gregg. Their first album release (1969) had been out for almost two years when Duane tragically was killed in a motorcycle crash (1971.) Gregg also passed away in 2017, there’ll never be another voice like his. Both are sorely missed. Check out Soul-shine, Dreams, Midnight Rider, Whipping Post, Statesboro Blues, and on and on ..... Ramblin’ Man has I think the strongest country sound and is one that Dickey Betts sings lead. The live recordings at the Fillmore East are the best and you can hear and appreciate Duane on the early ones. Great reaction! ♥️ FYI - Craig, one of the best documentaries I’ve ever watched is about Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals Alabama. Artists from Aretha Franklin to Wilson Pickett to Clapton and The Rolling Stones recorded there. It tells a lot of the history of Duane Allman when he was simply a session musician in the studio before the band ever recorded their own music. Mel McDaniel "Louisiana Saturday Night", Alabama "If You're Gonna Play in Texas" Just listened to a classic country song "Della and the Dealer" by Hoyt Axton, his other classic songs "Evangelina" and "Wild Bull Rider". This is more desert Southwest type country, with "Della and the Dealer mentioning Tucson, Arizona, and Evangelina brings in Spanish influence. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Classic storytelling country songs...also, Willie Nelson with Ray Charles "Seven Spanish Angels". Please step out to the desert southwest!!

Great song, great reaction video. I will let others give you the next MTB songs to enjoy. But when you are finished with them, I recommend the band Lynyrd Skynyrd. Perhaps the epitome of the genre. Start with Free Bird ( live version in Oakland Ca), and then That Smell ( my favorite Skynyrd song), then maybe Simple Man. Possibilities are endless. But got to give props to MTB, this song has always been easy to listen to.

I'm not sure if you've reacted to "Bob Segar & The Silver Bullet Band - Against The Wind" this band is extremely popular, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if you've heard some of his songs in movies and commercials. I'm also a huge "Allman Brothers" fan "TABB" they are one of the best southern rock blues bands of that era. Bob Segar sways a bit more southern country rock. But this is considered classic rock... you got so many other great suggestions for songs by "TABB" I thought I'd just recommend another artist. But either way it's all great music 😉👍🏻🎶

If you like Souther Rock as an offshoot, then you would like some earlier offshoots. Johnny Horton would be considered Folk Country. As a Brit, you would enjoy his song "Sink the Bismark" It is a tribute to the valor of the British Navy during WWII.

Craig I think you’ve reacted to The Eagles’ Hotel California and these 70’s reactions made me think of them. They were one of the biggest bands in America throughout the 70’s and are still performing. Sadly we lost Glenn Frey in 2016 and he was possibly my favorite one of the group. This is such a beautifully written and performed song. You won’t be sorry. Also check out Peaceful Easy Feeling, Take It Easy, Best of My Love, Tequila Sunrise .... just to get started. And for perfect harmonies Seven Bridges Road is a must. The Eagles were considered rock or folk rock but their music had a strong country influence. Their songs would often crossover to country radio. Theirs is music that will never die. ♥️

MTB is one of the greatest Southern Rock groups. This song is a bit more country, but who cares, it's a GREAT song. It's similar to their "Can't You See" which is one of my biographical songs. I can't remember if you had done other Southern Rock greats like Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, and the Allman Brothers.

So glad you like southern rock .You should really hear "Playing for Change-The Weight" - It is an organization that takes different songs (this one is southern rock also) and they have singers and musicians from around the world (literally) sing and play it. Featuring Ringo Starr and Robbie Robertson (Robby wrote this song) . Playing for Change wants to bring people of the world together for peace through music. It is stunning and will really lift your heart! Be sure to watch for all the countries and all the different instruments.

I sent that list of notables for folk & southern rock...I think you'd dig Lynyrd Skynyrd a lot. While they have fast songs, they have 3 most well known ones that are a must! Great guitar as well...great band. Many died around '78 in a small plane crash. Heard a lot of them the following summer at camp and on the radio. "Free Bird" of course. But, also, "Tuesday's Gone (with the Wind)" and "Simple Man." You'd love them, I'm sure. I'll try to stop suggesting. I'm probably being annoying and I've certainly sent many your way. Sorry.

I hope you carry on with this journey with The Marshall Tucker Band as you will not be disappointed. To me they were part of the crucial 3 of Southern Rock - The Allman Brothers Band/The Marshall Tucker Band/The Charlie Daniels Band...that's my personal top 3 and even though many will cry foul and say Lynyrd Skynyrd should be there,it's MY top 3,and I love Skynyrd,and had most of their recorded output up until '91,but I'd even put the Ozark Mountain Daredevils ahead...everyone has their likes.
