I love how sophisticated the fake brand deal is, designed perfectly to sucker you in and to seem reasonable to you... And then as soon as they get control of your channel, they blast so much spam that the channel is immediately closed down so fast that most of your subscribers never even notice any of the spam videos... It's like, all the subtlety and contextual creativity lets them sneak silently through the door... But once they're in your house they just start screaming at the top of their voice so that the cops immediately turn up.

Nate's laugh at around the 22 min mark. That pure, diffused "if i don't laugh about it, i'm gonna rip out the person's trachea" level laugh. Hoof, you guys have been through the ringer. Glad you got the channel back, and thank you for sharing what it's like on your end.

Thinking back to the hacking saga from my end, I can follow when I saw it got hacked, got taken down, being very confused by a Give Heart with the crypto logo and a Dragon Ball Z cover and nothing else, and then updates coming back after that. Nice job Nate on hacking your manager account and Dookie on your amazing school day! Also : you do know the about section still mentions the hacking, right?

I was really really hoping that we'd get a more in depth talk on the situation and I'm really glad we did. Not only is it good information to know, but it honestly is just nice to be aware as followers and its interesting to understand. Also, only ever got hacked once in my life, my childhood Animal Jams account. Someone took it over but they didn't change the password, so every so often as vengence, I'd go back on, sell all their items, waste all their money, change their animals to white w red splotches and Xs for the eyes, and then leave. Then id wait a few months, log back in, and do it again. I was a very petty child.

This was a good podcast, I’m glad they felt comfortable talking about all of that hacking stuff, it’s good to know what to look out for, even if you don’t have an audience or anything, anyone can get hacked. The school stories are interesting too, and yeah, the school system is definitely broken (I too often daydream about getting transported back in time and having to relive those years again (I did also think about Bitcoin but I didn’t even think about Amazon), although for me I think the biggest issue would be living under my parents again and having no privacy or freedoms. I don’t think I could take that again. School though was kinda a highlight for me most of the time.)

i was really worried when i first saw that the channel got hacked. and almost in real time, i noticed how nate&dookie got hacked and even took screenshots of when they changed the name. i was mostly confused why they would even go to the lengths of being like OH I HACKED YOU TEEHEE SORRY HAVE YOUR CHANNEL BACK

I just played minecraft while this played. But all I learned from collage is to never sign into your socials on any public computer. Cause you're gonna forget to sign out of Facebook and people are gonna change the password just to F with you. Luckily for me, it wasn't a total lose cause I only used it to keep in touch with people that went to the same school as me that I didn't really talk to or hangout with. And this was all before the backlash of how Facebook at the time was really making money. I'd only ever consider getting my old account back if I finally got my hands on their Quest 2.

I’ve always wondered why you named yourself “Dookieshed.” It’s kinda funny that the inspiration was Greenday. I was thinking Johnny test and their dog character, but in a way, I think they’re also inspired by Greenday, since they ripped off American Idiot in their 2nd intro. Dookieshed is pretty vague too. So, in turn, I gave it its own identity in the end, and since it sounded so odd, its correlation with poop is not as easy as if it was named “Dookiebarn”

Gosh, the talk about "we can't help because you are not part of our network, even though logically we should at least be able to send a message along" reminded me of the times I attempted to contact a Verizon about an area outage, but because I am with StraightTalk and using Verizon's Network and am not with Verizon's mobile plan specifically, they were like "we can't help you, please contact your own provider". Even though, the whole area is on Verizon's Network because there is no other cell network available in the area, and everyone's phone was down, and I was just the one individual that paid StraightTalk for access to it instead of being directly a member of Verizon. I was also the only individual in the area who had a separate satellite internet company with which to contact Verizon about the outage, because literally everyone else uses Verizon for phone and internet, so they couldn't access support at all. But nope, Verizon couldn't report the Verizon outage for the whole area due to me not having a member login ID with Verizon.

Math is cool. Just because you think it's hard doesn't mean it's lame. Literally every other class is "memorize these things, and if you remember, you win", and my memory was awful in elementary-high school. So getting the chance to actually use my brain for something other than memorizing factoids was such a treat. Solving problems. Critical thinking. Stuff that made my noggin go choo choo. Even if some of that had no application in everday life, it trains you to think, which no other core class I've had came even close to.

Okay, so I want to clarify some things since I'm, like, industry adjacent to what you dealt with. The reason that you can't get help from other networks is because, likely, there is a specific person within Google who works on your network. This means that if another network tried to help, their representative just wouldn't have access to your information. Which is good from a security and structure standpoint. The reason multiple forms messed up Google is likely because they have automatic processes that do batches of requests. When multiple identical forms are submitted, these processes flag that so that the request isn't done multiple times. This means that a ticket needs to be put in with a person, instead of it merely being a batch.

Cool think about the high-school I went to I guess. Instead of the normal every class is only 1 hour we had two classes before lunch that were both 2 hours long. But instead of them going for the whole year it was only for half the school year and then those two classes where switched to another topic. It gave us time for the teacher to go over the lessons and do the 'home'work in class and normally have time to spare to do work for afternoon classes. 100% preferred that structure to middleschool.

Seems like it must have been a massive bot attack. A lot of gaming channels have been reporting about being hacked the exact same time as you guys. Videos go private, and a crypto stream starts.

Can't get a virus if you don't use an OS people make viruses for 😎 Jokes aside, SomeOrdinaryGamer maee a great video about this. Basically the malware is hijacking your browser's cookies to steal you login token. So always log out of accounts and clear your cookies every time.
