As a Scotland supporter i can tell you how they work. You simply throw them to Richie Gray and win. If hes not on the field, you're best to let the other team have it,cause the plan requires Richie you see.

Also as a Scotland fan, I can tell everyone that if Scotland lose a line-out, they're probably losing the next 8 in a row.

So what ACTUALLY goes on at the Lineout? 60 years ago - anything you could get away with. Commentator Bill McLaren used to distinguish between hanky-panky (foul play) and argy-bargy (violent and dangerous foul play). Back then, the winger used to throw in. I think France were the last to change.

I wold have thought the 10 calls the shape after the line out I would’ve thought the forwards sort the lineout plan and the scrum-half then decides to either keep up with the forwards or send it out to the backs. So I’m actually shocked that the ten is in charge of the entire thing. There’s also a lots of footage on Ireland. That a flattering thing for Paul O’Connell is line out work with Ireland.

When a defending lineout is not competed it is generally to place players in position to counter the opposition of attacking through a maul. You normally see it when a side is defending within their 22

00:12:44 - this is something that happens all the time nowadays, but I think there's a decent argument that Mostert funs afoul of 18.17a which then means there are in effect two receivers breaching 18.16, so to the letter, Scotland should receive a free-kick. Although the law is slightly contradictory as 18.29d says as long as he keeps moving until the lineout is over its ok to leave the lineout to receive the ball, though I would think the intent is that that is passed to them while they are running.

Love the content. Just a quick note. You are allowed to unscrew lightbulbs that get in the way of the screen you are projecting footage onto. Just remember to put it back afterwards. The big orange disk isn't the easiest thing to navigate when looking at the fantastic breakdowns you two do as it sits in the worst possible place, as a reflection to the centre of the action. Keep up the good work!

That's a great idea that I probably wouldn't have thought of despite it's simplicity, but the lighting is certainly on the lower end of visibility so I'd imagine that's the only other light in the room besides the main switch which was probably way too bright. He probably needs to bring his own light source!

Please explain the Boks kick? I don't think its fair that one team gets a kick named after them. Why not call it a Scotts kick ?

Not sure if its a joke your getting at, but its a BOX kick, which is a high and arching kick from a stationary position by the half backs, usually from a set piece such as a maul scrum or ruck.

At 2:23 who was that behind RG Snyman? The beast of Etsebeth is in front and I understand the camera angles can play tricks with your mind but I reckon that is PSDT. The only others it could possibly be is De Allende or Kriel. The Springboks with Rassie are on another level right now even with the new boys. Kolbe has been secretly practicing in the roll and it can work in the long run when Bongi is on the bench.

Yes, that’s definitely Pieter Steph. He’s such a lanky looking guy in flight that you forget how enormous he actually is. He’s also usually accompanied alongside the other locks which doesn’t help. But then you see him next to normal human beings and you realise what a giant he is.

The bigger question is:- What happens in the front row of a scrum? A lot of time is wasted on resetting the scrums because of an inability do their job efficiently. The resulting penalties take further valuable time and can cost expensive penalties. The whole set of consequences for a minor offence of a knock on or forward pass outweighs the whole purpose of the scrum, which is such a pity as I don’t want to convert to League by default.
