You don't want to be an hgv trailer mechanic. Most work out in the rain and on customers sites. Pay is crap too if your not on a fiddling bonus.

I was just over in the UK last week driving through London. I just realized the rear wheels on the Lorry trailers actually turn. Blew my mind! I always wondered how the hell they make such tight turns in those things.

Very interesting video-being in the USA, I was not familiar with the term Heavy Goods Vehicle!

We have the same issue here but most of the stuff we get comes from Europe / German engineering. Except for ROR / Meritor which I believe is American.

Very interesting stuff, can we have more of it please? Just for some personal feedback i like to know the dimensions of parts changed/serviceable and to hear you saying what you're looking for as you go round a trailer. Im not in this trade but its a great insight into a trade that interests so many. Maybe you can do a series of these, one or two videos on each part of the trailer whether its brakes, adjusters, air bag replacement, parking brake spring replacement, air systems etc etc. Im sure other fitters get a lot from these videos even though they might not admit it...

I sometimes hear people in the UK complain about endless regulations both UK and EU, but if you saw the state of most trailers and semi trucks (HGV) and other commercial vehicles in Canada you’d never want to drive on the roads here......

Chris do you use the oscilloscope for any other parts of the ebs/abs modulator or just use haldex or similar software. Intersted to learn what else i can use my verus for whilst i am a novice getting into scoping for verification. Great work m8, thanks

I prefer working on a pit for trailer work. No rolling on the floor for me. Not seen much body inspection, curtain sliding, side post checking internal body bolt inspection or load straps?
@maestegboyo5 жыл бұрын
cosgrove notts -Working in a Pit is now classed as a confined space, so you have to be confined space trained. Also your employer must risk assess . Everything you do, pit covers etc . Lots of people fall into. Garage pits every year.
