Yes please to more jazz (& RnB too) - another perfectly crafted tutorial - thank you so much, in particular for the cookie-cutter-avoidance tip which I've been relying on for playing as a beginner.

Man, this is a great tutorial, and you’ve got a wonderful knack for instruction. Seriously, bravo on the fantastic and friendly presentation. I just started playing piano a month ago at age 49, and I’m taking weekly lessons. “So What” was assigned by my instructor after week four. I’ve made great progress on it just this past week, and this video is a perfect supplement. I’ve got individual hands feeling pretty good, but combining them (and playing those chords with both hands) is still kinda tricky, even after slowing my metronome way down. Keep up the wonderful work!

Love it! Thank you so much! A great addition to these tutorials would be some support material in pdf 🙂 Seeing things written down helps a lot! (You could also refer to the real book which is a must have 😇)

Great tutorial. Would be nice if you could include some intro, solo, and ending ideas. This way it could be played as a complete performance, something like: Intro, AABA, solo, AABA, ending

Jazzophobia lol. I like that. Actually I didn't know much about jazz until U.K. came out and I bought that first album. That led me to fusion and then to other jazz. "Kind Of Blue" is a classic lp. Highly recommend it.

That album was "it" for most people. Iconic and revolutionary. Thanks for watching!

Hi Pierre, thanks for the awesome videos. Do yo think a 49 key keyboard is adequate to have fun with?
@pierrejpiscitelli9 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! For basic note input into a DAW or notation software, 49 is fine. To really play with both hands, get 61 keys!

I love jazz standards; thanks a lot! I have a question, which is somewhat off-topic, but I'll ask anyway. I have a bad lower back and am unable to practice for more than 15-20 minutes at a time while sitting on the piano stool. I've tried some chairs, but it seems you can't really play without moving your back. So, what gives? Do you, by any chance, have any tips, or am I out of luck? Anyway, great content, keep it up!
@pierrejpiscitelli9 ай бұрын
My pleasure! Not off-topic at all, nearly all musicians face physical challenges and ailments. Try one of those Rock n soc drum thrones with the lumbar support in the back. That way you can lean back a bit and rest your back. Your torso should be mobile and rather loose when you play. Be sure to do all of your back stretches before you play and take breaks!

@@pierrejpiscitelli thanks! I didn’t know about those, will check them out for sure.
