This is the second song I am learning with my jazz piano teacher. I have been learning (jazz) piano for 7 months now. You killed this song! Thanks a lot.

Bravissimo! I tip my hat to you! Some amazing stuff going on there, Jeremy. I'd love a breakdown of some of the lesser obvious techniques you're using.

hi Jeremy I have a request: in your book JAZZ PIANO FUNDAMENTALS that I love, you talk about bossa nova and samba rythms. How about other comping styles? Could you make a lesson over the most important ones?
@JeremySiskind2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for the suggestion. What other styles are you interested in? I do have a couple videos out about comping, including one focusing on modal styles - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGKbep98qZWontE and kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4eXaGp8bbejgZI and kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3-VpYmliKeIaKM and kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJe1hXWnp7Bnbrc are good places to get started.

When re-listening, just noticed that starting at 04.58 the melodic motive reminds me of Grieg’s theme, is it just coincidence or a kind of quote?

what's going on at 2:38? A, G# and Bb all in the same chord? sounds hip as hell but what is it (the tocando chord)
@JeremySiskind2 жыл бұрын
Good catch! This is a version of an A7(b9). I think the G# is the only weird one. It just adds a little color as a tone that can slide down to G as the 11th of the Dm11. (the Bb is the b9, the A is the root)

Most likely nothing you can do but, wanted to let you know (if you didn't already) there's some digital "jitter" every once in a while
