Firstly, CONGRATS ❤❤❤❤ on the second daughter! It’s so incredible because being a long time subscriber it feels like I’ve grown along with the channel! Secondly, I wish I had that “I’m not too worried” attitude towards off-season. Every time I go into off-season without a club, I get super stressed because of the uncertainty. I definitely need to learn to manage that. Love the content as always! ❤

Was gonna ask about how you deal with that constant uncertainty every season, but you seem to embrace the mindset of what happens will happen, I think that’s a good mentality to have especially with any kind of uncertainty… However my new question for the continuous q&a is: “What do you to set yourself up for success when you’re at a new club? I know you set goals and stuff but mentally how do you prepare yourself for a new environment?

I have a couple questions: 1. What is fascia training and is it something you would recommend? 2. In a separate video, I heard you mention that as an athlete one should consume salt, do you recommend foods like pretzels? 3. Could you make a video explaining why you eat stuff like pancakes and cinnamon rolls before games? Thank you
@shantiescovedo436115 күн бұрын
Matt rarely responds to KZbin comments. I am curious what you know about fascia training.
@niconinja176314 күн бұрын
@ I don’t really know much about fascia training although what I have learned so far is that Fascia is like a web of tissue surrounding your body. It is important (or not idk) to train it because it will make you more athletic and more fluidly moving rather than being stiff like a robots movement. Fascia training revolves around the glutes and the core, supposedly the two muscle groups that our body is naturally supposed to rely on. In order to train it you need to be barefoot a lot (I forgot why), and do certain foot retracting exercises that engage your glute.
@niconinja176314 күн бұрын
@ also supposedly the pros are so good because they developed fascia naturally by playing in the streets barefoot.
@shantiescovedo436114 күн бұрын
@@niconinja1763 I am not an expert either. I have not seen Matt discuss fascia at all. My understanding comes mostly from having plantar fasciitis last year. It is an inflammation in the fascia of the foot caused probably by my soccer shoes being too tight around my toes. The plantar fascia acts as a spring. It stores energy with every step down and releases it with every step up. It is a highly efficient process requiring very little energy. However, like other connective tissues, it does not have blood flow, so it takes a long time to heal. Similarly, because of the lack of direct blood contact, fascia takes a long time and a lot of volume to train. Running with good form (barefoot or minimal shoes encourage good form but are also risky), weight lifting and plyometrics, kettle bell swings with an engaged core, and even playing soccer are all good ways to train your fascia as well as everything else. The only other thing I learned is the importance of massage and stretching for healthy fascia. Good luck.

Q&A Which part of the game do you think is the most important to develop for young players, either the mental side, tecnical, fisical or tactical; I know its important to keep a balance but if you could only focus on one, which one would it be? Great video as allways

I find it weired in your league that so often you enter off season not knowing what comes next. I mean if the club wants you, why don‘t they offer a contract beforehand? And if not, at least you know that you have to find a new club. Here over in Europe, I don‘t recall this situation happening often. If you are without a contract after the season, it means you are not going back to your old club, because they don‘t plan with you in the future. Anyway, I hope you can stay in Detroit, you seem so happy there!

Did you own the house in Charleston or just rent, or provided by team? Is this house in Detroit yours, or rented, or team provided? If you own any property, honestly. Best to hold assets. Cash is worthless now. When you find a place you will settle down long term, then look for local asset, and then sell your other assets and move the money into the local asset. But only of course is you find sometime else worthwhile. If you find something else worthwhile not your location, well you decide.

Why don’t players in the USL stay at teams for more than 1 season? Not saying it doesn’t happen but seems like you and others move teams every year!

A lot of youngsters who cannot make into MLS, or players from MLS getting relegated to lower leagues means it is a buyers market. Teams dont not need to sign long term.
