Very nice video. Thank you. I am repairing 2 of these that are owned by my neighbor. "They don't run worth a XXXX!" PROBLEM: He leaves them on his trailer and they get rained on. A lot. Less than 2 years old and every part that can rust, has rusted. Yes, the air filters were soaked with water and indeed, they were growing MOLD. I have NEVER seen that before. I cleaned them up and replaced air filters. Absolutely awesome machines. I wish the idiot would take care of his equipment. -- North Central Florida

I have had an FS91r for years, usually using the string head and the metal blade (when its wet enough out to not worry about fires). I have a polycut head for it that has some german writing on it and in english it says "Grassbuster". Its been a while since I've used it, and I can't find the manual for the head. I went to put new stihl polycut blades on it and it is nothing like any of the videos I can find. Every video I see for similar heads on a Stihl just have the polycut blades sitting very loosely on the bolt. My old polycut blades that are still in the grassbuster head have metal bushings pressed into them; the bolt goes through the lower half of the head, then through the bushing in the blade, then there is a "threaded washer" on the bolt, and finally it goes into the retained nuts on the upper half of the head. So I had to tap the bushings out of the old blades using a large socket underneath and a smaller socket on top. Of course the bushings won't press into the new blades easily. I tried tapping them in but they are impossible to get in. So I was able to get the bushings seated into the new blades by assembling everything in the right order and tightening the head together which got the bushings seated in. I then had to take the head apart, and tap each bushing in further with a hammer. Now when I put it together, the threaded washers can thread all the way down the bolt until they drop off the threads and just float on the bolt shaft next to the bushing/blade. I am not going to spin this thing up with these washers rattling around loose on the bolts inside the head. Why did a Stihl dealer sell me this head which makes replacing polycuts nearly impossible when every head I see online, you just open the head up and drop new blades onto the bolts?

Good video. Just bought one of these with the larger handles and three bladed cutting head. The shop didn't ha e the correct (25-2) autocut head but I used instead a 36-2 head. Seems okay but probably not as light and responsive as it could otherwise be. I hope my choice of head isn't going to cause any other issues.

Great video!!! I just bought one of these and used it for the first time today. However, there was a problem. The bump head would not let any more line out. So, I removed the cover and discovered that the line was overlapping itself on each spool, preventing any line from being released. It appeared to be intentionally done by the manufacturer.

I’m sorry about that experience, we try to always make it a habit to rewind all of the heads on the machines we sell as we found it an opportunity to eliminate any bad experiences like you may have had. If you need assistance with the rewinding of the head we’ve got a great video on that.

Oh yeah...by the way, I can wear down a plastic bump head in about month and a half. It is impossible at some of the places I cut to avoid running it over buried/partially exposed lava rocks/boulders down to the small lava cinder bits. The metal disc that you load two strings manually is the best for longevity, but not speed🙄. The brush blade is BAAAAD to the BONE!! Can't work without Stihl Products!!!

Can you feather the trigger on the FS91 like you can on the FS94? In the past, the 4 mix units were all of nothing. Sometimes, you just need a small amount of power such as when you're around flowerbeds. I'm trying to decided between the FS94 or FS91. Thanks

The 4 mix definitely have a quicker throttle response they have changed the trigger design that allows you to use your pinky as a blocker and I found that helps a lot of people out check it out

Thanks for the tip. So, would you recommend the 91r over the 94r. They're both the same price ($479 Canadian) where I live. I did find a pretty good used 94r with about 10 hours on it for $380. There's no warranty left on it and the owner can't find the bill of sale but it does look like it's in great shape. Not sure if it would make more sense to go that route to save some dollars.

The handle was not made correctly. You have a hard time tightening the handle into position because the "loop" blocks the screws. Further, the nuts holding the screws are square when they should have been hex locking nuts. Design oversight that even I can see.
