I'm an ex-service advisor, shop foreman, and service manager for BMW so I would like to mention a few things: 1. You skipped out on the PAW N55 for the E92/E90 which has less issues but makes less bolt on power. With a tune 350whp is common and a Pure Stage 1 turbo is 400whp all day without wastegate issues (assuming you fix the vacuum lines). 2. The S65 has rod bearing issues that are more due to the owners than the car. Change your oil, let it warm up, and change you spark plugs every 30k. This will pretty much avoid the issue (194k on my last one when I sold it). Throttle body actuators, evaporator cores leak on early ones, and prepare to spend a lot in fuel. 3. The 335is is a monster. It's a 1M/Z4 35is Sdrive tuned car with the same clutch as both (and the 550i) if you get a manual OR a DCT automatic that's bonkers too. It's a bit tricker to tune but MAN it's fun! 4. Pay for someone to install your N54 downpipes. It's not worth the PTSD nightmares, TRUST ME! From a B5 S4, 300Z TT, and a STS-V this job is one of the worst. 5. FCP Euro! Lifetime warranty on all their parts! You pay shipping, you get a new part! 6. The electric water pumps...they just suck. Stick to the OEM plastic propeller ones, the metal ones kill engines when they go. 7. Valve Cover Gaskets, Oil Filter Housing Gasket, and Oil Pan Gasket... all these will leak so find a car that has them done. VCGs will dip on the exhaust and smoke you out. OFHGs leak onto your belts and throw them off destroking your front main seal and getting in your engine. Not fun. Oil Pan... well you lose oil quick and your aero panels will be coated in gunk. It's a pan to do this one. 8. Only the M cars have a factory LSD. 9. These are great cars if treated correctly. Remember, they are 40k-60k cars new, their parts and labor is going to be expensive. If you are a DIYer then they will make you a good technician. 10. Remember to enjoy your car!

Very good info. Allow me to add the list of what happened to mine. 2006 330i Sport, so it was just an N52 motor, not the N54. 1) Cracked head bolt at 95K, causing massive oil leak. Bad metallurgy or bad factory torque. 2) Three cracked bolts on the oil pan, causing another leak. Big $$ labor cost due to all the stuff they needed to remove. 3) Minor valve cover leaks, very common on every German car I've owned. Problem is, it gets on the exhaust manifold and you can smell it every time you open the door. 4) Three failed ignition coils at 100K 5) Failed AC compressor at 120K 6) Failed headlight aiming motors at 95K 7) Worn-out suspension "thrust bushings" at 100K 8) Worn-out guibo on the driveshaft at 110K 9) Massive interior water leak caused by clogged sunroof drain hoses. 10) Shocks became too soft by 95K miles 12) Cupholder stuck inside the dash and wouldn't pop out anymore, lol. 13) Rear power sunshade got stuck. Other than that....fairly reliable I guess. Surprisingly good highway mileage due to the tall 6th gear. Great seats with the Sport package. Just make sure to ditch the crappy run-flat tires because they ride like shit.

@cccc99113 жыл бұрын
Yes...the e90's look great still. Most importantly, they drive SO MUCH BETTER than ALL of the platforms after it. The newer 3 series FEEL NUMB compared to the e90s. Go test drive one and you'll realize it IMMEDIATELY. I'd rather keep an e90/N54 and have a much more fun car to drive and fix a fuel pump or water pump every 2yrs than pay the premium and take the depreciation hit of getting a new one.

I think the E92 is the greatest bimmer EVER made. When you consider price, style, power and handling, there has never been a car that balances all of them like the E92. And I like the 335i MUCH better than the M3. Who needs a gas guzzling V8, when you can build the N54 to 1000whp??? The E92 335i is the perfect blend of style, sport and luxury; power and comfort. Its look is classic and timeless. I don't think I've ever loved a car as much as this one, and I've owned Porsche's, Alpha's, several American Muscle Cars and six other BMW's. You have to be rich to run one, especially tuned. They have ALOT of failures that the engineers failed to catch. I swear yall better not lose this man and whoever said the edits on his videos. I will eat yalls face. But maintenance is the main reason BMWs get overlooked. Majority that mod them dont have the thousands to spend on maintenance(or they do but dont feel like it because they'd rather buy a sweet set of 19x10.5s instead of the water pump they needed).

The n54 high pressure fuel pump has been fixed since 2015, the ecu firmware was updated to prime the low pressure fuel pump on unlock instead of accessory on. It was found the low pressure fuel regulator, that was made of plastic would leak sitting pressure after an hour. Causing dry starting of the high pressure fuel pump. You should change the driver side top hat along with the high pressure fuel pump and take it to BMW to ensure the ecu firmware is updated

I have a 335i N54 with 6 speed manual and it is not only the nicest car I’ve ever owned but the best driving car I’ve ever been in by far. It has the features, comfort, and fit and finish of a fine German GT, yet handles the road like an Olympic figure skater on ice, biting into the corners and accelerating out of them with poise and a grin. 12 years down the road all the big maintenance items have been done and now it’s just regular maintenance stuff, maybe 1K a year if that. I couldn’t be happier and I love it even more now that I have a set of wheels and tires from FI: the AodHan AH-X 18x9.5 in hyper black.

I have the 328i 2011. I did a water pump, thermostat, valve cover, assembly, serpentine, tensioner, changed all fluid, an injector, and spark plugs. Im about $1200 into it ,self done maintenance. Right now it has a slight valve seal leak and burns oil on startup. The check valve in the fuel pump has failed and that will be at least another $150. The coils have already been replaced at 45k. It has 83k on the clock and I bought it at 73k miles.

I was in the market for buying a bmw found a 07 328i sport package with 130,000 miles for $3,000. The downside I later found out was the previous owner drove it for 25,000 miles did no maintenance or even wash the car. I replaced a water pump,thermostat,coils,both vanos,power steering pump seal and oil cap seal. The first owner had replaced couple things mainly the oil pan seal. With engine parts,wheels and tires, exterior mods I've spent $3500. So it's better to seach forums find out what all needs replaced before they go bad and dont go back to OEM parts.

I got a 325i with M-Packet... Helll boy i dreamed about that car when it was released and last Year i finally got one... The best thing i would love to point out is, that even when it's basically 14 years old car, it still looks great in "modern" times. It's strong and wild, but also feels mature and calm... Only disadvantage i can tell by now is, that on "not so good roads" it feels really unconfortable... And since i am from czech republic where lot of roads are not in perfect shape, its kinda frustrating. But anyway... Great car.. I can only recommend it to everyone.
