Yeah but the R7 is really moreso a track bike. It gets really uncomfortable if you have passangers or if you wanna commute or sit in stop and go traffic. The N650 is a lot cheaper, especially given that in germany the R7 can be 12k, and the N650 just 9k. The Ninja650 is also a lot more comfortable, versatile, is better for touring, and can also be sporty on the highway. The R7 is just a little bit more powerful and lighter, but really it's negligable. And for that difference you pay up to 3k more. Imo the N650 is a better choice for an overall beginner sports bike. The R7 is better if you spent a lot of time on the track. With the R7's aggresive position you always have to lean to the front, but with the N650 you can also be upright and chill. Your polemy against the N650 is really unreasonable.

Here to make the case for the Ninja 650. You can get them dirt cheap because the R7 makes them outdated. I just bought my ninja and after dealer fees and taxes paid just over 7,000. And that’s in Missouri where you pay almost 10% of the bike cost for the tags instead of a flat rate. Also my back is fucked from military service so the upright position is great. With an R7 your going to pay the msrp if not more with how sought after it is. Furthermore, someone with back problems would have to then price out handlebars or risers etc. The ninja makes sense for a certain buyer (cheapskates) and if this sounds like you, buy the ninja, you won’t regret it.

I’ve been riding for like twenty years and have owned like 16 different bikes/scooters. A friend wanted to get into riding and i told him to take the class, spend $3000 on a used bike and $1000 on new gear. What did he do? Took the class, and promptly went to buy a brand new Yamaha R7 for a total of $13,000 financed out the door. LOL. He was uncomfortable on the the ride home and freaked out about his impulse buy. It was a little tall for him, awkward to handle compared to the cruisers in the MSF class. Big time buyers remorse. Unfortunately, he couldn’t do anything about it. Dealership told him, “too bad” basically. Lol. He was beating himself up about it so I wasn’t gonna be like “WHY THE HELL DIDN’T YOU LISTEN TO ME.” He is doing neighborhood and parking lot practice, but he’s getting false neutrals regularly. Not sure if it’s his riding or a flaw with the bike. I think if he lowers it a little bit and practices a lot he will be fine. In any case, people need to LISTEN to seasoned riders and understand that it is your first bike…not your last. Don’t buy your dream bike for your first.

Just got a 2024 r7. I’m a new rider and have no prior clutch experience. All the torque making it a little difficult to learn on but I’m not stalling, just suck at shifting 😔

Yo yammie and crew, you should do a review on the Kawasaki versys 650 I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I'd pick an Aprilia 660 all day long, but it's also about 10.5 g's. Some people dog on the few cheap parts of the Yamahas, but you can't argue the price....that much.

It would be fun I think, if Suzuki would make the SV670 into a sports bike just like what Yamaha did to the MT-07.

Yes, please compare cbr650r to the r7!!! I am not a beginner rider and want something to hold for at least 4years as a daily commuter

Currently looking at picking up a bike and was contemplating between the ninja 650 and r7. I like both but once i heard that familiar low end grunt of the yamahas which ive always been a fan of especially in the R1's i knew it was a done deal and i dont mind spending the extra dollar to get a great looking bike and something more of what i wanted. I'll come back to this post when i've got the bike and give an update :)
