I’ve got a 2012 8P and I love how large the panoramic roof is on such a small car, and also it’s quite a shame that Audi did not bring the 8P models of the S3 and RS3.

I have owned both an A3 sportback and a GTI. It’s really hard to say which one is better. I had a 2006 8P A3 with the FSI motor. The FSI motor was a bit more temperamental than the EA888 motor in my current MK7 GTI. I also had to have the mechatronics unit in my A3 fail. Thankfully that was all replaced under warranty. I loved the look of the 8P A3 because it looks so unapologetically European in style. It’s a really rare car to see here in Texas. Even at Audi specific meets, I would often be the only A3 sportback around. Haha!! My current MK7 GTI has been a blast to own and I enjoy it for many other reasons. It’s more fun, almost as luxurious and more mod friendly. Both the A3 and GTI are great vehicles. You cannot go wrong with either honestly. Just make sure to buy an A3 with the S-Line package. It looks far better, sportier suspension and more supportive seats. 👍

Hello from Toronto. Great video! Very detailed. Proud owner of a 2011 A3 8P for 7 years now (Quattro, S-Line, Premium Plus w/ blackout or whatever is used to be called). I have put this car through a lot!! It has not failed to impress. It’s good on gas, it’s powerful (enough), it’s AWD and very stable. Not to mention functional - I have moved 3 times and have used this thing like a cargo-van. People have watched me at Ikea loading this thing like a clown car, in utter disbelief of how much I fit into it!! I did have to get a roof box - as you mention, there’s not much room in the trunk when the seats are all up. And that’s usually the case now since this is the family hauler. ✌️

After my 2010 A3 got rear ended and totalled. I found a 2009 A3 with only 70,000kms for $10k cdn. Totally lucked out and was quick to act within an hour of listing. The first A3 2010 had some minor issues but I was able to source out auto wrecker for parts. Also did some upgrades like sports seats and speakers from Auto wrecker in Surrey. The Bose ones have drivers and don’t need a sub woofer. This second A3 was serviced regularly by local Audi dealership. The owner just did a major service before he traded it in. New tires was nice too. Since it’s got such low mileage I’ve got about 100,000kms to catch up with my previous A3. Looking forward to many years of ownership. Just don’t get into collision 💥. An update, 2009 A3 engine hemorrhage and dealer replaced 2/4 ignition coils. I later replaced all 4 coils with R8 type from CT turbo. Took me 5 mins as it turned out to be a plug n play install. My mechanic replaced front left wheel bearing and flushed out transmission. My transmission was jerky before but after I did coil packs, Holodex made the gear adjustment. No need to do TCU upgrade.

I have a 2009 A3 8P Quattro, So first facelift model with the EA888. Had to do timing chains in the first few months but I knew they were already on their way out when I got the car. A lot of A3's weren't covered over warranty for the tensioner for some reason and anyone looking to buying a car with the EA888 should check the tensioner revision, Theres an inspection hole on the timing chain cover. Mine made some noise on startup, Didn't think it was a big deal and I stopped driving it after a bit until I could fix it myself. If you have chain noise on startup AT ALL, I would not drive it whatsoever even if its intermittent. My chain noise wasn't bad sounding compared to other cars and didn't always do it. But when I got the timing cover off it was much worse than it sounded, Not worth the risk Its great since doing the timing though, I got a Stage 1 tune and DSG tune from IE and its not even the same car, Just waiting to get a turboback exhaust to install my Stage2 tune cant wait. Ah, The DSG tune also fixed a lot of the weird shifting issues I had with the trans, It would absolutely throw a fit sometimes when cold and couldn't decide when to shift

I have one from 2005 with a FSI engine and I’m considering buying a 1.8tfsi or 2.0tfsi just because of the performance increase. I absolutely love this car, in my opinion it’s one of the best looking Audi’s ever made. The interior is fantastic, a lot of aftermarket parts are available, it doesn’t cost all that much to buy and maintain, insurance is very reasonable and as a tall driver(6,4) it’s one of the best fitting cars.

I got some nice 18 Inch rims last month which makes the car Look Even more aggresive. But my Audi is a 3 door version. 1.8 TFSI DSG transmission. Of course Bose Sound System and S-line seats and everything. Much love❤️ I Like yours too💪🏼💪🏼 (Sorry for my Bad english, I am German/Turkish)

Hello from NJ, I came across your channel looking for tips and ideas on how to make my A3 8P a more suitable and fun to drive (its my first car and first time working with them). I have a Base FWD 09 8P that i picked up last summer for around 2k and spent a lot of time restoring it since it came in non running and horribly maintained. Currently, it runs somewhat well, with no lights, but the ride quality is rough, to say the least. All I've done for it so far is an android auto console swap and a rear camera install.

I use Audi A3 8p sportback 2006 non turbo 2.0 with timing belt, FWD, & 6 speed Torque converter A/T transmission as daily driver. Commuting to work and pick up my wife nearly 60km every day. I take a good care of my car maintenance and restoring the part on the time basis. Now with 120.000 km on the clock, it still up and running. No major issue with engine, mechatronic, oil, etc. It never overheat. The Only problem is electrical. Grounding wire issue haunted me for years, trip my AC, wiper, honk. Even replacing new alternator do not solve it. Still figuring it out till now. Acceleration is insane, even without Turbo or tuning. I think that have something to do with me taking out the catalyc converter. Got 0-100 km/hr for 5-6 second. For mod : I upgrade my tailight with 2010 A3 facelift + LED strip., its super cool. Also the boring head unit, I change it to Kenwood aftermarket double din & put Ipod nano as music player.

It has 177000km / 119k miles asking $10990 cad / $8700usd The only problem is that I can't cross the Canadian border until I get our new I.D. card which I won't have until October. Covid is making everything difficult. I have an Evo 8 but I need a 2nd car so I'm looking for something a little more "Family" LoL and the A3 is what I've decided on. Hi I just bought an 2009 A3 last month and my EPC lights went off shortly after that. My transmission has been experiencing some delay and jerkiness when taking off from complete stop and slowing down between gear 3,2,1. It also slipped once when I was trying to accelerate around 15 mph (revving but no power). I took to German Auto Repair and found that the throttle was replaced prior to purchase so my mechanic did a throttle adaptation. It seemed to help for short while until just the other day, I was at a stop light and my acceleration did not work and also no rev. My steering wheel also locked up and was very hard to turn. I turned off and back on and it struggles to stay on for a long time and when it does, the revving kind fluctuates without stepping on gas. When I push on gas pedal and let off in park/neutral, sometimes the rpm just stays and does not go down. I know this could be many different things but does body have any ideas as to whats going on? Thank you so much
@montystevens1949
@montystevens1949 2 жыл бұрын
Oh God, you've purchased one of those. One of those as in someone got rid of it for those specific reasons after more than likely listening to some "expert" and swapping out parts that wasn't even the problem to start off with. Let's start with your EPC issue. Normally whenever you have a problem with it, you will experience lack of acceleration etc. due to a failed abs sensor on one of the wheels. However, this will NOT cause idling issues or hard transmission shifts. Hard or jerky trans shifts normally occur on these cars whenever there's low or contaminated fluid, faulty electronics or believe it or not a bad diverter valve. The rough idling along with the throttle body replacement can also be an indication of a bad pollution canister/purge valve. You'd be surprised at what it will make these cars do whenever they have an implausible signal fault. You really need to run a full diagnostic scan on your entire vehicle with VCDS or some other creditable software. Also check your hpfp and make sure it's maintaining proper pressure along with your boost or "map" sensor. Start with what I've mentioned before anything else. I've been owning audi's for 17 years now. Everything from a B5 S4 to 2 Q7 Tdi's. We, me and my wife also own 2 A3 8p's, 2 B6 A4's and a B8.5 S4. I do ALL of the maintenance on them myself. They aren't difficult cars to work on, but they can be a pain in the ass to fix when someone who doesn't know what they're doing, tear them up.

Find out if your car has been in for the class action lawsuit repair yet, if not, you’re no longer covered so check the tensioner whenever you have the chance and replace it if you’re mechanically inclined. Regular oil changes (every 6-8000km is good)!

how come your 2012 8P has a 2004-2010 Audi Steering wheel? Audi changed their steering wheels on the 8P to a circular center one in mid-late 2010. also, you forgot the most important thing: no matter which VAG car you own - Audi, VW, Seat whatever you MUST get VCDS! any other OBD tool is pretty useless garbage and won't help you with removing false positive fault codes or help you understand what's REALLY bad with your VAG car. i used to have a fault code for my radio not working (i installed a 3rd party "OEM" looking android head unit) and i couldn't remove the fault code with an OBD-Eleven, only with VCDS i was able to access and remove that VAGCOM fault code completely and modify VAGCOM to cooperate nicely with my new head unit (allowed the head unit to sync up / communicate with the speedometer dials screen showing whats currently playing / current station / bluetooth connectivity status etc.)

Considering an A3 3.2 Quattro S-Line, I looked at the service history and the only things that have broken were very minor. As it's an '06 with 130k miles I'm not sure what to expect, any advice?
@ThatGuyTyy
@ThatGuyTyy 2 жыл бұрын
3.2’s are pretty stout engines, I’d just be worried about the DSG and possible electrical gremlins since it’s a mk5 chassis, and the mileage is on the higher end. If service history is good and was done at regular intervals I wouldn’t be worried. Always would recommend a well taken care of car over one that was abused

@@micrograham 3.2 owner of about 8 months here. The 3.2 is a trooper, and with an aftermarket exhaust, is on par, if not better sounding than an r32. mine is at 110k miles, and you can tell the dsg transmission is the weakest link and could potentially go soon, but no issues so far. as long as you find one that is well maintained, they are great cars! just a word of advice though, if you plan on modification at any point, go with a 2.0 as they can make power much easier than a 3.2, obviously being boosted from the factory. I had a modified 2.0 beforehand, and it was more playful, but the 3.2 sounds so much better and drives a lot smoother.

Bro I see your aux cord works. Just got an Audi a3. Has a aux input under the centre console but when I go to press cd twice ext input doesn’t come up and aux doesn’t work. I’ve seen online it needs reprogramming. I’m not trying to pay Audi to do it or pay 300 for the Ross tech cord. I was looking at some knock off cords on Amazon. Did you have this problem?

No we didn’t, which is kind of sad as I’ve seen the 8P’s in Europe and there are so many other options over there... the only other seat option we had were the alcantara insert “sport seats” which were order only 😩

Nothing in terms of physical mods, you can safely run E15 without mods but anything higher would need injectors, pump and lines

I personally wasn’t tuned for ethanol since the fuel quality in Canada is already so bad that running that little ethanol boosts the octane slightly
