It was a well presented video and will be helpful to students seeking to come to MUA. I would like to add that the 2 years in the Caribbean is relatively the smoother portion of the journey. Before appearing for USMLE Step 1, you must past the the comp exam conducted by MUA. This is much harder than Step 1, and one way of the University restricting students sittings for Step 1. This will show better pass percentage for the university. Many students have lost one semester period because of coming down on comp. The challenges with MUA is clinical rotations. You are pretty much on your own. Specially securing electives at hospitals. This can put a lot stress on you in terms of securing electives that will help with your future specialization field, accommodation to be found at the 11 th hour etc. Once Step 2 is finished, expect that Caribbean grads stand lowest in the picking list by the hospitals for variety of reasons. So pl. prepared for this.

Hi could you tell the passing grade for comp exam, would it still be 70%? Also why you chose MUA and not AUA?

Good morning.do Windsor medical University st Kitts admit students .who just finished their secondary school from Nigeria thank you
@mohsmedical97483 жыл бұрын
You will probably be a better fit for their Pre-medical program, rather than the Medical program proper. Feel free to check the school’s website for more specific details.

Hello, does the school offer scholarships and loans to African international students?
@mohsmedical97483 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge, there’s currently no scholarship or loan options offered by the school to African International Students.

Since it looks like MUA 's accreditation by WFME is a bout to expire this year, will they be renewing it ? How will it affect new grads?
@mohsmedical97482 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question. I’m hoping they stay on top of it and get the accreditation renewed 🤞🏾

thank you for these videos. Do the professors really help to pass the block exams and the overall course? And how difficult is the comp exam to pass?
@mohsmedical97482 жыл бұрын
Yes, most definitely. The block exams are set by the profs and one of the best ways to do well in them is to really pay attention in class, know the lecture slides and listen to their reviews. They have your best interest at heart for the most part. As for The COMP exam, it is relatively challenging for most people. And I think that is because students don't expose themselves to question banks early enough. With constant exposure to question banks early in the game, the comp exam would be fairly doable. Just the lecture slides wouldn't cut it for the comp exam.

@@mohsmedical9748 thank you. i'm starting at MUA next week! any tips on how to be successful first semester? and any quizlets/info online to help aid alongside lectures? thank you!
@mohsmedical97482 жыл бұрын
@@forevr21 Hello! Congrats on your acceptance. Biggest advice I can give would be to stay on top of your material. Content can pile up really fast, and if you don’t keep up, you will fall back really fast. The material is not hard, but is challenging to keep up with. So if you’re discipline and can do that, you’ll definitely thrive! I found the class lectures to be sufficient to pass the regular block exams, but if you need Supplemental material to clarify more concepts, Osmosis is a good resource (this is also provided to you by the school)

I just had my interview and it looks like a choice between this and st James What is your recommendation?
@mohsmedical9748 Жыл бұрын
Both are pretty decent options with their pros and cons. MUA has more popularity and have been around for longer. On the other hand, St James is on the cheaper side and considerably more affordable. So if you have the money, perhaps MUA might be better for you. If not, St James is also decent

Can you speak on match/residency per class? Like I’ve been hearing only 20% of each entering class gets matched on their first try and many spend 1-3 years finding placement. Not sure if this is true or exaggerated by students not at Caribbean schools
@mohsmedical97482 жыл бұрын
It is very possibly that number is exaggerated by some people. The truth is that no one really knows the match rate per year, other than what is released on the School's website. As whole, IMGs tend to have a harder time matching on the first try. More information regarding IMG match rate as a whole can be found on the NRMP data published every year. In terms of school specific matches, the most reliable source would be the School's website; not Reddit, SDN or word of mouth.

You got any studying tips?
@mohsmedical97483 жыл бұрын
Studying is largely personalized. But some general tips that are valid across the board include staying on top of all the material as much as you can (i.e.,studying everyday), repetition of things you’ve studied before, testing yourself.
