Graptopetalum Paraguayense (Ghost plant) broad leaf(pinakamalapad) and curved at the tip, leaf thinner and whiter and the flower is white. Graptosedum Ghostly is a hybrid of Graptopetalum paraguayense and Sedum which is shorter leaf compared to Ghost plant, broad(medyo malapad) and fatter, greener leaf and flower is yellow. I've seen some people in the Philippines via social media with skinny leaf ghost plant(not) and looks like Francesco Baldi or Sedevera Starburst.

Ugh that Margaret Rose😍😍😍 I've never seen one before and that is absolutely beautiful! My future daughter-in-law just brought me over a big pot of her desiccated Succulents so I can rescue them LOL she's always had a problem with killing them but now she's so afraid to water them that they are so dehydrated the poor things. String of pearls is her arch nemesis she can't keep it alive to save her life and she brought me just a very small maybe 3 in cutting and I now have a beautiful Lush full pot and she asks me what my trick is and I tell her water plain and simple LOL every time I give my string of pearls a good soaking it has a growth spurt. And that's how I have raised all of my babies, they are used to being watered. Of course I've had trial and error and a lot of root rot along the way but everything is a learning opportunity and I know which ones can handle it and which ones can't right now. I'm sorry I forgot all about giving you the grass killing recipe I will definitely get it today

Thanks Liz, coping with rain the secret Is in the soil and the size of the pot..I find anyway.. WHen I first started I used sand in my mix..no good as it holds moisture and stays wet, rock of some form is definitely better.. sand Didn’t work for me and I lost some beauties ☹️, probably depends on climate also.. I use your master soil mix with extra rock..seems to be going well with all this rain! 👍

I killed a lot of succulents on my first year using shop bought/expensive succulent soil mix; mix with sand and perlite. That's because I saw some succulent recipe online that looked convincing...Bwahaha. As a revenge for that....I now show you what works for me... It's all part of the learning process. At least the sand I have didn't go to waste as my budgie loves it.

Omg, it's raining a lot right now and I did leave my succulents out on my exposed balcony, totatlly no shade and no protection from the elements. I'm taking your advice and acclimating my babies this winter. Finger-crossed, but so far so good. Lowest temps are still in the 50s.

Thanks for watching Daisy. The cold is not an issue in growing these plants. It's a matter of providing the right environment for them to grow. Most of my succulents have experienced temperatures as low as -11°C/12.2°F. The ones that aren't frost hardy gets brought indoors to winter over.

I find that the soil mix is the biggest factor. Growing them indoors or out of the sun can be very challenging as well.

Hi Liz, I got my single ghost baby 2 years ago from my local small business grower. I never even realised they weren’t that common here until I started shopping around. I’ve never seen any at Bunnings. Thankfully mine is starting to get lots of babies now. I’m still on the lookout for a Painted echeveria or any of the red echeverias really. It’s stressful when our quarantine laws in WA are so strict. I get so envious of the other Aussie states that aren’t so restricted.

Here in US I also dont see Ghost Plants sold on garden centers. I started a few cuttings and now its all over my yard🤪. My dog helps propagates by knocking off some plants and the fallen leaves creates its own colony🤣.You said there are many different kinds of paraguayense but it still confuses me till now which one i have🤔

There's only a couple of paraguayense(big and small) and Bernalense; but lots of sub species and also similar looking plant with different genus and names for ex. Acaulis, Titubans(Ghost plant), Tricolor, Rose queen etc. They can be really confusing especially when they're grown stressed.

They love water and they like compost rich soil. Just hold off the watering when it's really hot. Over 30°C.

My biggest one is around 200mm / 8 inches. Depending on the soil mix and the condition where its grown, but they'll grow bigger in the shade and smaller if out in the sun.

So its October 2021... my ghost plant has grown like crazy during summer. Now, can I leave outside? What temperature is too cold? Its still 70d in Michigan but its dropping to 58 at night. In going to see if it will tolerate outside until November.

We don't get heavy snow here in Canberra, Australia but we do get frost. The lowest temperature my ghost plants have been exposed to is 12.2°F. They have survived it with no damage. I don't know if they'll survive a much lower temperature.

Thank you, Liz, for another great and helpful video! :) I need texture/contrast to my in-ground succulent bed (sub-tropical location, 9b has tons of rain). Is Sedum Lidium a huge water loving option? I use 90% inorganic matter in my mounded beds but need some tiny, something to add contrast, or even a tiny rosette something that loves or tolerates rain in my super breezy but wet location.

Sedum Lidium loves water and rich soil. If you're putting them in the garden, might need to enrich the soil that they're in.

I'm not selling at the moment as I don't have enough to sell and also preparing the plants for postage takes up too much time that I don't have. Queensland has a lot of succulent collectors' that sell. A lot of what we have comes from Victoria, Adelaide, NSW and Queensland. Joining Facebook succulent groups also opens yourself to a lot more people who sells succulents. Good luck.

Hi Liz, temp here has cooled down a bit these days. I feel my succulents are handling rain slightly better now :) speaking of variegation...does it happen from a non-variegated leave or plant? I thought the mutation has to be from a seed.

Variegation is not an exact science as it's still like a lottery to grow/get variegated plants from a non variegated plant via seed or leaf. Mutation, pest, pathogens, weather and growing condition all plays a role in creating variegation in plants. This is why I love mealy bugs....LOL Got a couple of variegated plants due to this wonderful creature. Did I mention cresting too....LOL

I have around 20 Ghost plants...... They are my LEAST favorite. My ole man scraped them all up from a big box store, and I had to save them. Not fun, not fun in the slightest. But I also got around 20 jades for 75¢ for ALL, not a piece 🥰😍 And man are they gorgeous now. Ghosts? Well I treat them as such 🤣

Liz, since you live in Australia do you every get snakes 🐍 in your garden? Australia has a high venomous snake population and you have a great habitat for snakes. Just curious because I live in Texas and we have a high snake habitat and I love succulents.

LOL....Sorry....Not meant to laugh but, just funny the way you put it. Chalksticks grows better in the garden. Black Prince is always a pain in the backside. Colorata is a tough plant but likes being kept dry and hopefully it'll overcome the fungus. Good luck.

Ghost plant is now a rare type of succulent here🤣🤣🤣🤣. The farmers are no longer producing the graptopetalum ghost plant instead they are selling the fake version of ghost plant which is the graptosedum ghosty which is mostly known as ghost plant here. When we realized( or I realized) that the ghost plant they are selling is an impostor we all started looking for the real ghost plant and we can only buy it from the succulent collectors and not the farmers who mostly produce our succulent here. Now the original price of ghost plant is maybe 1$ or 50pesos and when the ghost plant became really rare the price launched up to 7$-10$ each or 350p-500p
