It never stops impressing me, how well you merge mathematical precision with artistic talent! Most people are only capable of one of those but you make using both seem effortless. - Isn't that always the mark of a master craftsman? I thouroughly agree with the choice to enter the sunset pink/purple one in the challenge. Both of those came out really nice, the second one was just a much better showcase of the Luna swirl because the ombre was kind of lost in the copper colour. Have a lovely week❤

Possibly, but make sure you think about what's important to you, so don't make too many changes if you love how your recipe feels. My recipe is not what people would typically say is very slow moving, but the way I use it and how I blend, temperature etc mean that I can do a lot with it
@shopwildvenus Жыл бұрын
@@IDreamInSoap I do love my recipe, it's rich and creamy but I made it when I was a newbie and hadn't thought about scaling up! I'm now trying to make 4 loaves at a time and it's a frantic race against the clock 🤣 I've played around with blending at different temperatures but it just seems to do what it wants when it wants no matter what I do! 2 years of soap making for me and still learning every day. Well, that was a ride of discomfort. I sat here watching you make the soap, with the thumbnail in the top right corner looking at me resplendent in purples and pinks… and I just couldn't see how your colours would transform into the beauty I was getting a sneak peek at. I decided, that despite watching your initial video about making and numbering colour swatches - that I might need ‘soap colour theory 102’. 🤣 I am so glad everything became crystal clear at the end. I will say now that I loved all the bars in this video. They were all beautiful. Great entry for the soap challenge I am sure! As I sat here watching you ombre and deal with colours I found my thoughts reverting to a question I can't answer… but I suspect you can. It's been chugging around my brain since you did ‘soap on a rope’ and has become a more complex question over time… I can't quite pin it down… but I think today is the day the question comes out (whatever form it takes…) as it has been living rent-free for a long long time! I am aware there are numerous ways to colour your soaps… pigment colours, micas, and lakes come to mind. I don't entirely understand how these are different but I suspect it's way deeper than my brain has fathomed. I have certainly seen colourbleed in melt and pour soap… which got me wondering about the possibility of a natural ombre in a cold process soap! Is it possible to have an ombre affect by pouring two layers of soap and science doing the rest!? (Not your beautiful and time consuming blending method - which I believe gives me the answer I need.) But, a big part of me wonders if soaps of a different temperature, different superfat quantity, recipes, colourant type, density… can be used to mimic the ombre process ‘naturally’ (albeit not so drastic.) Not the most eloquent turn of phrase here, but I'm sure it's understandable. Now most people are fed up of this post, I can ask the secondary spoiler question… did you use the same fragrance on the remake or switch it to a floral… like the new colour scheme hints at?
@IDreamInSoap Жыл бұрын
Hey Johanna, goodness me, that's a long one :-). Some colours will bleed in cold process soap, but not many do. Micas and pigments tend not to. Soap itself tends to stay where it is once you stop moving it and colours won't migrate from one place to another. So for example, you can pour 2 colours of soap next to each other and unless they are very thin they will stay next to each other, only if they're thin or aided by some sort of tool will they merge, but in that way they would follow the path of the tool you have used, so unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately for us who like to control designs) a soap with two colours won't ombre itself.

@IDreamInSoap Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, the music was Cody Francis. I think that people don't credit so much nowadays is that previously people used a lot of free music, but the rule for use was that you had to add an accreditation, whereas I think people use sites like Epidemic Sounds more now, which is what I do, they have good tracks but you have to pay to use the music, but because you've paid you can just add them to your videos. I guess it would be nice to still add accreditation but it adds another job to the already very lengthy job of making a video for KZbin
