Hey, here is an idea! Why not make a "Failed Collection" where you share your experiences with soap that didn't turn out the way you wanted to and actually make it the right way. Yes? No?... I am just sharing :D

If you ever really don’t like how a batch turned out you should donate it to a local women’s shelter. I know soap can’t solve the world’s problems but it would be so nice for them to have something beautiful like your soaps!

We typically have a few batches we don’t sell as peasant soaps or get pulled from the shelves if they don’t sell and we do donate those to local hospitals or women’s shelters or families we are connected with that are in need.💗

I agree most of my soaps go to homeless shelters because I don't sell them and yet I'm addicted to making soap so after a couple of weeks I'm looking around and I have wall-to-wall soap LOL. I worked at a homeless shelter for women and children and I know for a fact that they appreciate everything that is given to them😀😀

Key lime pie uses meringue not whip cream. That said real key lime pie is yellow not green.

I am so thrilled other people asked for an unscented fancy soap! I thought about asking a few times but didn’t think anyone else would want it. I’m so sensitive to so many fragrances that by the time I check ingredients on what I’m buying on your release date it’s all sold out! Key lime pie is probably one of my favorite desserts.

I am normally allergic to soal but the ones with fancy oils etc in them makes my allergy worse I think there should be always a unsceted soap that also isnt just one color (as what i came across always-not here tho) And it shouldnt be limited time available bc we are not allergic or something for limited time

Seeing creators I highly respect talk about their failures make me feel much better about when I fail at things, esp when the thing isn't *that* bad but the creator can only see the flaws. It shows that being hard on yourself is human, and makes me want to be as understanding to myself as I am of them

As a chronic migraine sufferer, I buy your soap to put in our spare bathroom because scents trigger me pretty badly but I am absolutely a customer for life now! Thank you for seeing us scent-sensitive people who so longingly look at the pretty Lush bath bombs before pouring in the unscented Epsom Salt into the actual bath.

Scents are also a trigger me, as a chronic migraineur. BUT also, I have a hard time finding a soap maker who doesn't use scents and/or shea butter in every recipe! I'm allergic to it, and cannot buy these beautiful soaps because they're using butter/oils that I'm allergic to :( So, I have started making my own soaps instead.

Tea , sugar , and salt I was thinking the same thing i am a pastry chef in Colorado and key lime didn’t have meringue ! A lemon meringue does ! Similar custard bases but usually the key like is finished off with a dollar of whip cream or just plain

Oh man, as a painter I definitely go through that moment of- "I just completely forgot how to paint. That's it, there's no hope. All my training and experience has left me forever!!" What it usually actually signifies is that something went wrong with my tools but in that bit of time between "everything is going wrong" and "here's the simple adjustment I have to make" it's all just thoughts about how badly I'm doing. We all go through it!

Katie - I have a great hint for you!!! If you have runny bottom layer, spray liberally with alcohol snd wait a minute or two. A thin skin will form on the top. I find if you’re gentle you can float your next layer on it. I use this method a lot when I make rainbow soap because you’re having to do so many layers and you don’t want to wait hours to get the bottom layers to set up. Hope it can be a useful tip for you abd other soap makers out there!! 💕💕💕

Yep and add one big frosting blob then a melt and pour cone sticking off the top would look so cool like the bar was just a dropped ice-cream. Chocolate brown on the bottom and a few other layers of color as the scoops .

Some things I learned from Katie: 1- never judge a book by a cover (aka green dyes look funky and then pretty the next day) 2- accept your mistakes, and if it’s appropriate laugh cause Katie’s laugh makes everything better

I work nights, midnight until about 9am-ish... so I just woke up!! I've never been this early to a Royalty Soaps video!! Super excited for this! (Edit after watching) Actually... sure it doesn't look like key lime pie BUT I think it's really cool looking!! I might pop by the store on release day for an unscented bar (I like... some... scents... non-pastry-like scents... but sometimes it's nice to have something unscented)! Not that there's anything wrong with having a theme or inspiration but sometimes it's ok for something to not have them and just be cool to look at or pretty! So fear not! It's not what you intended but it's not a fail either! Much love!!

Sure did enjoy the video. Glad you share with us the realities of soap making. 20 years ago I catered my friends wedding by myself. I made something like 500 mini tart shells and transported them across several states for the wedding and then filled them with keylime pie filling. I haven't enjoyed key lime pie since. I have eaten it a couple of times but I haven't made. My husband loves it.

It IS so much fun! I started after watching Katie, and I love it. Once you start you’ll be addicted. I have had so much fun making soaps - and surprisingly it became a side business for me. The cool thing is that every soap maker is different. You might love bright colours, someone else will use no colours or fragrances. Some people like only natural colourants like cocoa powder or dandelions. My friend loves bright neons! 🌈. Your personality will really shine once you get started making it. Good luck!!! 🍀🍀🍀

totally get that the design did not turn out, but honestly, some of my favorite soaps you've made include fun ways of layering!! i appreciate how much care you put into making the designs. you truly are an artist katie

The colors are gorgeous. I have a friend who is a potter. I am the proud and grateful recipients of many of her 'failures' that she doesn't want to sell. I love them. I feel like there must be a Land of Misfit Soaps in your studio. Bring them out to people and let them have some love!
